Review of IIT Hyderabad - Electrical engineering

Dislikes

  • Many of the buildings are still under construction and are said to be completed by 2030
  • Canteen and mess food are average and the food court is horrible.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Electrical engineering in Hyderabad provides a good degree of flexibility and it is comparitively more rigorous than other courses. The faculty is excellent for the most part and the course content is also of good standards even though some improvements can be made. Overall a decent choice if you're interested in the electrical domain

Placement Experience :

Most of the students opt for core electrical jobs eventually and very few move out of this zone. Packages are upwards of 30 lpa on average and the highest package was around 60lpa overseas(Japan). A few of the students also go for MS, mtech or upsc after completing btech

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

For students with reservations and economic constraints, adequate concessions in fees are provided by the institute and other than that many external organisations give scholarships based on family income. Overall, it is very affordable for the quality of education and infrastructure provided

Campus Life :

Social life is excellent and lots of diversity is observed. There are a decent number of clubs but many yet have to be established fully. Some domains might be missing for now but eventually, they will be set up. Lots of construction is taking place for different academic blocks, blocks for separate branches and others. In 5-10 years the campus will be fully constructed. Fests are underwhelming for the most part as only very few stand out. Libraries are under construction and only 1 is functioning as of now

Hostel Facilities :

Single sharing rooms are good but occasional water problems are observed. Double sharing rooms are really small and crammed. Hostel food is average and will quickly saturate students. Registration is convenient and overall hostels are affordable

Admission :

The admission process was done through josaa counselling and it was very smooth and convenient for the most part. Allotment of all the facilities was done at the earliest by IITH and some inconvenience was observed in the fees portal for a group of students

From the 7th semester, the students become eligible for the campus placements. The highest package provided was 11 LPA to a CS ENGINEERING student based on his advancements in skills required. Almost 20% to 40% students gets placed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was quite disappointed with the cirriculum that has been designed. Its not at all tailored to teach you the approaches for solving the real world problems . The cirriculum is atleast 10 years behind. The same old things are taught. Talking about exams, they are conducted for every quarter of a semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Choosing this college was done when I was in my Intermediate, I was attracted to the Courses & mainly towards a BS Degree. We have Regular classes along with a Digital Teaching system. & most of the assignments are activity based which helps in gaining practical & theoretical based Knowledge. The teaching faculty are really good, and most of them are down to earth. Along with us, Our teachers also work hard, they train us in the best way they can. We can openly discuss our doubts, or topics, which we feel hard or unable to understand, etc. By working hard, we can easily pass the term exams, without great difficulty.
