Course Curriculum Overview :
I am currently pursuing Electronics and Telecommunication. I wanted to pursue electronics so I chose this course. Also, ETC is a very promising course and has endless opportunities in the future. There are currently around 4000 students including all the courses here. The faculty:student ratio is about 1:10 here. Faculties here are sufficiently qualified and have completed their education from reputed colleges of India. The methodology adopted here is modern and new technology is being adopted to make studying more fun and easier. A year consists of two semesters, and each semester has a midsem, endsem, quizzes, assignments and practicals. The marking is quite tough here and a hard curriculum is followed.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies like SAIL, BHEL, HAL offer internships to students here. SAIL offers intenrhsips at RSP (Rourkela Steel Plant) . These are available at the end of 2nd year and 3rd year. Amazon SDE Interns have also been offered in the last 2-3 years offering a initial CTC of 8lpa. SAIL offers a month long internships and provides hands on knowledge on industry practices.
Placement Experience :
The placements here are quite average and the average package here is around 5-6lpa considering all the branches. The highest package for 2022-23 was 48.6lpa which was offered by Amazon. Good companies like Amazon, Google, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan have hired from the college but these are all off campus offers. On campus, companies like Deloitte, TCS, Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, L&T, Tata Power etc have hired. The college offers good opportunities for the core branches, the non core branches are a bit lagged because of the location and the culture. Many people also opt for higher studies and majorly go for an Mtech or an MBA. Around 70-80% students get placed here.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees hike is quite negligible and it costs around 1.8 lacs (excluding hostel fees) to study here. If you opt for hostel the total comes around to 3 lacs for the regular couse. The fees for Self Sustaining Course is different and they have to pay a total of around 4.4-4.5 lacs (including hostel fees) to study here. There are various scholarships which are provided here on the basis of merit.
Campus Life :
Samavesh and Vassaunt are the Tech and the Cultural fests which are held annually in the college, They are conducted in the last week of March or First week of April. The central library here is the oldest library established in a technical University in Odisha. It contains a plethora of books and journals which are more than enough for the development and course knowledge for the course. Classrooms are big, well lit and properly ventilated. Smart classrooms have been implemented and the Labs have top-notch facilities. There is a big sports ground and a lot of clubs and societies, like Robotics, Enigma, Vibranz etc are active on the campus. There is a great emphasis on Club culture here.
Hostel Facilities :
There are 7 boys hostels currently, and 5 girls hostel. The hostels are very large and can accommodate students easily. Hostels have good mess and the meal quality is okay. The fees for hostel is affordable and costs around 34k a year.
Admission :
The admission was granted through my JEE Mains ranking, and the counselling organisation was OJEE. There is no other entrance exam through which you can avail for the BTech courses. JEE Main is the entrance exam which is being considered here. The cutoff vary for different branches, and the college follows the standard reservation percentage, OBC category doesn't get any benefits. The admission process is very smooth and it's not difficult at all.
