Remarks :

The college management is extremely sensible about the needs of its students in terms of providing all type of assistance for the best upbringing of talents and getting them placed in best companies around the world.

Entrance Preview :

I took admission at IIT-BHU for M.Tech. programme in Metallurgical Engineering through the written test score of the GATE- Exam, in which I scored around 80 percentile. I opted for this curse at BHU, since the faculty in this department is one of the best in the country and the Placements are excellent.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very exhaustive with a number of specialization choices available. There is a lot of focus on Theory, Practical and R&D with knowledge sharing on the latest industrial practices. Some of the specialization subjects are Alloy Design and Development, Industrial Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy. The various subjects being taught are Metallurgical Thermodynamics, Iron & Steel Making, Foundry Technology, Welding Technology, Mechanical Metallurgy, Physical Metallurgy etc.

Internships Opportunities :

The college provides internships as governed by the Ministry of Human Resources, Govt. of India. The internships are given in a very timely manner and are very handy in dealing with the routine study and daily expenses including the hostel and mess fee etc. The stipend in 1999 was Rs. 5000 per month and now I suppose, it is close to 20,000/- per month as per the MHRD directives.

Placement Experience :

The campus placement opportunities at this institute are phenomenal. The companies come from all backgrounds including Coaching, Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Construction, Software, R&D etc. and offer one of the best compensation packages in the country. The campus placements are almost 100% with companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, M&M, Tata Motors, TELCO, TISCO, L&T, Godrej, HUL, Amazon, Google, Syntel, CTS, Capgemini and many others.

College Events :

Institute celebrates host of cultural events in its campus with host of musical nights, sports events, competitions in the area of science and engineering, National/International conferences/Seminars, Workshops and exhibitions to attract and nurture best of the talent.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure in this institute is one of the most affordable and reasonable. The hostel and mess fees are just as required with a lot of facilities available to the students in the hostel campus. The tuition fee is just nominal for the course compared to the other similar institutes in the country.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college provides many scholarships to the meritorious candidates in addition to the MHRD stipends. These are based on the merit, Castes reservations etc. and are very helpful in handling the expenses during the studies.

Campus Life :

The campus life at this institute is marvelous. The campus has huge libraries, Gym, Swimming Pool, Sports facilities , Playgrounds, many shops and vendors, Canteens, Temple etc. This campus has almost all the study disciplines and options with the gender ratio almost equal. The campus itself is extremely well maintained and full of greenery inside. The students are from across all corners of the country and is a very safe environment.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facilities and the mess in this campus are one of the best. The fee were close to Rs. 2000 per year for hostel and rs. 700 per month for mess during the year 1998-2000. The mess is a huge one with seating capacity of almost 200 at a time. Hostel campuses are full of greenery and peacocks. Each hostel having close to 200 rooms all with single occupancy provided with almera, chair, table, fan, bed etc.All hostels are connected with intercom and the security personnels.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

The college has a very wide network of alumnus and there are dedicated patrons who take care of the global networking of its alumni. There are many get together of the pass outs. The website of the alumni is very active platform for all type of discussions and the needy students can post their job requirements as well where the seniors help them to get the suitable job openings

Exam Structure :

The exam is based on the semester pattern. There are other regular tests as well periodically to assess the students. The exam is composed of both practicals as well as the theory. There are also some open book exams whereby students can refer to the books and solve the exam papers.

Admission :

I needed to appear for GATE exam and needed to score good to get short listed for the admission in this institute. I applied to this institute for M.Tech. course based on my GATE exam score and then I was communicated through the institute about my shortlisting for this course.

Faculty :

The faculty of this college is extensively knowledgeable and definitely one of the best in the country. They have wide exposure to world class teaching methodologies and are world renowned in their expertise area. They are the highest qualified and set a benchmark in the country for their subject knowledge.

Masters in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2023-2035

Placement Experience:

During the third semester of the master of technology, students are eligible to sit in campus placements. In the Electrical Engineering Department most of the top semiconductor companies like Intel qualcomm, micron, Texas instruments, onsemi, cadence, amd visited this year. Number of offers made is 80 out of 140 candidates. The highest package is 49 LPA by Qualcomm. 60 per cent got placed this year due to poor market conditions. I am going to work in a semiconductor company after completing my degree.

THE BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS OF IIT KANPUR

Placement Experience:

Placements of IITK are very good. Even during recession the average package was 15lpa. Highest package was 60lpa and lowest was 12lpa. If someone is not getting placed then professors help in their own domain. After degree, I am planning to work in a product based company after degree.
