The IIT experience

Dislikes

  • Disliked the 75% attendence criterion. Like we are now responsible adults we should be able to decide wether or not we need to attend this course or not.
  • Also dislikes how in hot delhi weather we boil like an egg in our rooms.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I personally chose iit Delhi electrical over some other iit's cs. The reason was the kind of exposure that only iits like Bombay and Delhi can provide due to their advantageous location. The student-faculty ratio for some courses would be 300:1 and for some other courses it would be 30:1

Internships Opportunities :

As a first-year student, I have not had any personal experience with internships, but from what I have observed and heard, many students have been able to secure valuable internship opportunities with a wide range of companies. These opportunities have varied greatly in terms of compensation, with some companies offering staggering packages of up to 40 lakhs, while others offer more modest salaries. Many of the companies that offer these internships are well-known and respected and provide students with meaningful and valuable roles that can help them develop their skills and gain practical experience in their chosen fields.

Placement Experience :

The student becomes eligible for campus placement in their 4th year of BTech. Really big companies like amazon, google, Microsoft, etc. Visits the campus. Most of the students get placed and packages offered vary from crores to modest paying.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I would say for a middle-class family, fees can be pretty costly which can cost up to 3lpa without any scholarships. However, iits do provide scholarships for students under 5lpa family income. Being a first-year student, I don't have much knowledge about placements, etc.

Campus Life :

Rendezvous four-day cultural fest - has celebrities like Sunidhi Chauhan, and Benny Dayal. Tryst is an annual tech fest. Literati, BeCon, and Kaizen are some other fests Also different clubs also regularly organize events and competitions. For eg. the Debating society of iitd conduct stalwarts where basically students showcase their debating skills and compete with others. Thus, every club regularly organizes such activities. Also, sports are given great importance and are considered a central part of campus life, particularly through the General Championship (GC) which is an inter-hostel sports competition. Additionally, there is the Inter-IIT Sports Meet where all the IITs compete against each other in various sports.

Hostel Facilities :

In the first sem of the year 2022, we are provided triple-sharing rooms with 3 beds, 2 double-sharing almirahs, 2 fans, 3 study tables, and 2 bookshelves (all these can vary from hostel to hostel). Bathrooms and toilets are regularly cleaned (once every day). The meal quality is good. However one might get bored with the menu as the food you will get is different for every day of the week but the menu is repeated every week. The registration process is pretty smooth and easy. It is done along with admission into the institute.

Admission :

Admission is based on jee advanced rank To give jee advanced, first, you need to cross the cutoffs of jee main which will be around 90 percentile and you can fill the form of jee main online from whichever exam-taking agency's website. Eligibility for jee main is to be 12th pass.

Placement Experience:

The placements can happen in 3rd year too but mostly in 4th year. Most of the placements is by mass recruiter companies like TCS. Percentage of overall students getting placements would be approx 60% since most don't hit the CGPA requirement (approx because this data is not public). The highest placement was by Microsoft, Amazon and others, 52 LPA, 45 LPA, 44 LPA, though these were off campus. My plans would be to build my resume in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th college years and then get the degree issued by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good in my college especially for cs/it and se packages are great. Core companies are less comparatively but there is also good no. of jobs. Top recruiters are Google, Samsung, epic, cisco, Microsoft, IOCL, BHEL, IAF, Indian Navy. During this pandemic visiting companies are less like google didn't come for placements. In software branches, 95-97 percent of students are easily placed. Core branches are on the weaker side in this college. Around 450 companies come every year for placements and internships and easily 700-800 students get jobs. The highest package offered was around 45 lakhs and the average was 12 lakhs. I plan to get a job at the college itself.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th-semester student is eligible to take a participant in campus placement. There are various companies are comes for the placement but there are quite small. One big company Maruti Suzuki come here for placement which is the most highlighting. The highest package is 8 lpa and the average is around 3-4 LPA. After getting 70% you are eligible to participate in every company. I am prepared for software companies.

Remarks:

The Placement of our university is commendable with our students placed at big tech companies like Microsoft, Goldmann Sachs, IBM, Amazon, Flipkart. Also situated in the heart of old Delhi, we have quite good campus life. The faculty here is highly qualified and experienced, being graduates of colleges and universities like DTU, IITs etc. Being an all girls University, it is the most popular choice for the companies to hire women tech force for their companies offering them respectable salary packages. The average salary packages offered here is approx 11 lacs.

Remarks:

My Overall experience of this college is nice. I have made some great memories and friends here. The crowd that comes here is well groomed but it's still on every individual as to what kind of people they seek to be with. College's connectivity with places is very good. The college is just 4-5 metro stations away from major hangout places like CP, GTB nagar and NSP.
