Reality of the Dream called IIT Delhi

Dislikes

  • i fell that some professors don't teach with that enthusiam which eventually leads to some students losing interest in the course and then leaving classes subsequently
  • so much politics is prevalent for position of reponsibilties (POR) for different clubs and boards among students which leads to polarization , distraction, stress among students

Course Curriculum Overview :

my course is mathematics and computing which includes comparatively tougher courses in high level mathematics and computer science. it enables us to build a career in tech, finance, and quant firms. I love mathematics that's why I preferred it over computer science alone so I can also enjoy maths in my undergraduate studies. we have one minor and one major exam in a semester along with some quizzes. overall the course has a higher workload in comparison to other branches.

Internships Opportunities :

Every major company comes for internship in every sector like technology, consulting, IT, finance, management, quant, etc. QUANT firms and HFTs pace the highest amount of stipend starting from 3 to 4 lakhs per month and goes up to 20 lacs for international offers in Singapore, US. Product base companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Adobe, etc also take good amount of students for internships. For getting shortlisted into quant firms and tech companies you should have a good understanding of DSA as these companies require excellent problem solving skills. Some good companies which give a good package also imposes a criteria of CGPA of 8 to be eligible to set in there technical rounds. Some companies like Jane Street only allow computer science and mathematics and computing students to set in their rounds.

Placement Experience :

Being such a reputed college, the placements here are excellent. Students from the final year sat for placements and from pre-final year sat for internships. Every major company visits the college like Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, Jane Street. Last year, the highest package was 4 cr from Jane Street. From the statistics of last year around 93% percent of the students were placed who sat for placements. Companies come for profiles like software engineer, Quant Trader, Consulting, Management, etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Tuition fees here is 1,00,000 per semester which increases as per government policies and not with that much regularity. However, there are numerous scholarships available like Donor scholarships, Merit Cum means scholarship and various other scholarships. So if your family income is less, you will get a scholarship surely, and you will be able to fund your education easily. Many students also work in startups led by the students of the institute only, or other part time and teaching jobs which help them to support their education.

Campus Life :

there are numerous clubs and societies which kept on conducting events and festivals throughout the year. sports facilities are world class for every sport. All classrooms are equipped with smart boards and projectors. We have a huge library, Activity Centre, Sports Complex, Cultural Complex.

Hostel Facilities :

Some hotels are old and some are newly build once. For freshers there are 3 seater rooms which goes to 2 seater and single rooms in senior years. Every room includes all basic facilities like bed, study table, almirah, mirror, fan, tubelights, windows. Daily cleaning and maintenance is done in corridors and lawns so they are clean. Main food is decent and it very is from hostel to hostel as every hostel has its own mess and you can only eat in your own hostel's mess. The rent of the rooms are 13250 per semester and the mess fees is about 34000 per semester on which you can get rebate if you take holidays and don't eat in the mess. Hostels are allotted to you randomly during the registration process of the institute. Staff and seniors are friendly. Every hostel has common rooms, study rooms, sports rooms, and courts for basketball, badminton, etc.

Admission :

The aspirants have to qualify JEE Advanced exam with a Rank under 350 to qualify for the course I am doing under general category. Reservation policies are as per govt norms for SC, St, OBC and EWS categories. For JEE Advanced exam you have to read physics, chemistry, maths, in your 11th and 12th standard with deeper understanding.

Faculty :

Most of the faculty members have PhD. and Masters degrees from various prestigious universities of the world. Most of the professors have excellent knowledge about their topic and some of them are doing research in their respective fields, have patents to their name but one thing I think that lag is the teaching methodology or the deliverance of knowledge to the students in the most convenient way. One factor for this, I think can be the rigorous curriculum which forces the professors to complete the syllabus a bit faster. The Faculty-student ratio is close to 1:9 which is better than the global average. overall the faculty interacts well with the students outside classroom and also provides office hours to students so they can approach them in person.

Other Applied Colleges

IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITR] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I was getting a similar circuital branch in IIT Delhi which is better ranked than IIT Roorkee. Also, in New Delhi I will be grtting more exposure, better city life, better placement oppurtunities, foreign exchange programs, etc

Placement Experience:

Placements are going abyssmal recently. due to sudden hike in number of students and the recession going on, there is utter discomfort among students regarding the placement season. most companies do visit the campus, but theyjust take 2 or 3 students and leave. the packages are pretty good, but only few people get to bag those. so at the end of season, there is a few population placed in good companies, and a big population left unemployed.

Good placement opportunities student can sit for placement from 7th semester companies will come. Avg package for cse/IT is around 7 lpa and for ece is 4-5 lpa. No good internship opportunities on campus you have to try off campus. Top recruiters are zomato, chayos, amazon, zs associates, josh technology, tcs, juapay, cvent, cognizant, yamaha and many more companies.... Highest package is 50 lpa in Microsoft and lowest is 3.5 lpa.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is okayish nor too good neither too bad the average package here is around 6 lpa which is less but some companies do come and place the students in the campus itself also the network of alumni is good they also apply for offcampus placement and try build a network for the juniors. We often get internship notification from our seniors only

Course Curriculum Overview:

DU has many reputable colleges and departments that offer high-quality education, but like any institution, there may be variations in the quality of education depending on the specific course, faculty members, resources available, and other factors. there is some frequency for exam along with your perspective on their moderate level

Placement Experience:

From 4th semester companies started hiring interns which happens incampus obviously and they also pay kind of decent stipend somewhere around 20-40k. Placements here is decent enough like if you want that 1cr package you'll have to look for off campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I wanted to pursue engineering and ipu has a great reputation. placements is also decent.Faculty is nice and teaching method is also nice. Student ratio is pretty bad especially in cse. There are two exams in one semester the midsem and endsem. Exams are moderately difficult. The college is also in a very lively location in Delhi and has many places for students to hang out. Faculty at msit, is well educated and best at their job of teaching, almost all the teachers are experience holders, teaching at msit. It's easy to pass the exams If you study from teachers notes because most of the questions are related to their notes in midsem and endsem. Exams are of 30 marks and 75 marks and passing marks are 12 and 30.But the cse branch is considered as top branch in the msit and is preferred over the other branches is what I have been told by the seniors. The faculty is quite qualified and know how to teach labs are also well maintained .
