Remarks :
One of the most renowned and scientific research institutions of India is IIT Madras. I applied for M.Sc. course online and submitted an admission fee of Rs. 150. Institute offers a great course curriculum and placement opportunities that one can hardly deny. The institute holds the ownership of 146 patents. Final merit list is based on the GATE scores and your performance in the interview round.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure is inclusive of core theory and practical courses. In the last few months, there is a choice between choosing a project or opting for three elective courses. I chose the project one and it turned out to be great. The faculty members are equipped with the expertise in diverse areas in chemistry. All of them were PhD holders. Teaching methods adopted by the professors were suitable and appropriate according to the level of an IIT.
Placement Experience :
Percentage of students getting placed after M.Sc. course is not very high. Around 14% of the students were placed from my batch as very less students sat for the placements. The opportunities were also ok as the highest CTC was Rs. 8 LPA. Core sector observed the highest number of placements followed by the IT sector. Larsen & Toubro company offered the highest number of placements (around 45).
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The cost to study M.Sc. here at IIT Madras is Rs. 23070. Scholarships available for the students are Merit Cum Means Scholarship , Institute Free Studentship, SC/ST Scholarship , Kanchi Kamakoti Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati Endowment Award. Though, according to me the fee is quite affordable as compared to the other colleges. I myself didn't apply for any financial aid.
Campus Life :
Campus life of the campus is a happening one. Its like students never sleep here. All the events are listed on the official website of the institute. Shaastra is the annual technical festival of IIT Madras and has been a tremendous learning experience every time. The fest attracts an immense number of participants from diverse technical, scientific and managerial backgrounds, from school students to graduates, academicians to professionals, engineers to entrepreneurs. One of the largest cultural festivals in India, Saarang is organized at the campus in January every year.
