Remarks :

I wanted to pursue my PhD in one of the top 10 IITs. I am glad that I got seat in IIT Guwahati in Design Stream. As the current semester is online I don't know much about the good and bad aspects of IITG. But one thing I must say it is the most beautiful campus among the all IITs in India. Because of Covid-19 pandemic the admission process was completed online through teams app(Shortlisting is based on GATE score). There was 2 rounds of interview, first round was about basics of Engg Mathematics, English and Subjects related to stream and the second round was related to Projects and Areas of Interest related to research work.

Course Curriculum Overview :

You can find all these details through official web site of IITG. Almost in IITs standard of faculty will be very high. Since the last semester was online I can't say anything about teaching. I can say it was good and the exams were like 2 mids and 1 end sem exam, But this was not the case in all subject again it will depend on the course instructor. Difficulty level was moderate I mean if you work hard and study well definitely you will clear the exam otherwise it will be very difficult.

Course Fees : INR 17000 per year

Placement Experience :

I don't much about placement details of PhD students. But definitely there will be so many offers in R&D of different companies, if not that they will start their career as asst professors in universities etc.

Campus Life :

As I am yet to reach the campus, I will update all these details soon. As of my knowledge one annual fest will be there, to encourage students talents there will be so many clubs run by students only. And annually there will be inter and intra IIT sports meets and tech meets will be there.

GATE 2018 490

Admission :

Interview was roughly around 20 min(They were checking mainly about basics related to out stream). All the other details were already mentioned before. There was no GD for me.

Entrance Preview:

I have qualified UGC-NET, JRF in Economics and qualified the Entrance Test of IIT Guwahati for admission. UGC-NET, GATE helps one to qualify for Institutional Fellowship. However, selection is based on its own test, which is critical but not impossible.

Placement Experience:

In general, the placement and job opportunity in IIT is great. However, it depends on certain thinks, of which important are: capability of the candidate, demand of the subject matter, institutional support for placement.
