Entrance Preview :
I have qualified UGC-NET, JRF in Economics and qualified the Entrance Test of IIT Guwahati for admission. UGC-NET, GATE helps one to qualify for Institutional Fellowship. However, selection is based on its own test, which is critical but not impossible.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum of Economics is quite impressive. Course work is administered in the First Year of the Programme, which contains minimum four papers. It contains Research Methodology, Development Economics, Industrial Economics, and Mathematics for Economics, Statistical Techniques and Econometrics, Computer Application, Issues in Indian Economy, Environmental Economics.
Internships Opportunities :
I have opted for UGC fellowship since I have been awarded JRF. As a Research Scholar, we need to take some class, examination duties and to share technical knowledge in the field of Economics. In the absence of supervisor, he entrusted the responsibility to conduct his assigned classes. The fellowship amount is enough to meet the expenses .
Placement Experience :
In general, the placement and job opportunity in IIT is great. However, it depends on certain thinks, of which important are: capability of the candidate, demand of the subject matter, institutional support for placement.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure of IIT Guwahati is comparatively at lower side than any private or some public institutions. Moreover, most of the students able to get some for fellowship, scholarship, or internship, which helps them to meet regular expenses and some part of course fee.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Most of our fellow mate had received gainful institutional fellowship. Besides, contingency amount is also provided for purchasing books and related items. The undergraduate students also get Educational loan easily through the institution.
Campus Life :
The campus life in IIT Guwahati is very pleasant. It offers multidimensional development for the students and staff. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities both foe male and female. The laboratory standard is very good and up-to-date. Competitions in the field of sports, engineering and culture are of high standard and it acts as a platform of creativity for the studentsﾒ community.

Being a premier institute of the country, IIT Guwahati has a very systematic and active Alumni network, which provides necessary support to the institution from time to time.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure of IIT Guwahati is very systematic and examination system is very strict. The tentative schedule of examination is notified in the academic calendar and detailed examination programme is flagged in the official intranet 15-30 days before examinations.
Faculty :
The faculty of the department is quite confident and authoritarian in its domain. They have enough experience in the field of teaching and research. Besides, they are technically quite sound and allows freedom for work.
