Remarks :
College management is very good. Here different organisations work together to make social and scientific changes in the world. There is space for everyone. For the artist in you, and the scientist you, the chef in you, the philosopher, the actor, singer dancer and what not!
Entrance Preview :
IIT JAM, GATE, In IIT JAM I got AIR 71. After completing my masters here, I appeared for GATE, and cleared it. On applying to IITs, I got call letter from IIT Madras, to appear for their selection test. On clearing the test, there were two different panel of faculties and subject experts, who interviewed me. After the interview, they put up the list of selected candidates, and I was one among them!!! Thus I joined this institute for my PhD.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The institute offers many courses. We have to get prescribed number of credits to clear each semesters. Few courses are fundamental, and every student has to attend mandatory. There are lot of electives, which a student can choose according to their field of interest.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes they do. I do not have an idea about how much stipend they give to students who come here for doing internships. During summer and winter vacations, many students from different universities come here to work.
Placement Experience :
The placement cell here is doing a great job. There are lot of training sessions for students who try for getting placed in different companies. They conduct group discussions presentations etc, to give students confidence and experience. I have seen many students getting placed in good companies, with attractive packages.
College Events :
Diwali is celebrated every year in institute., by lighting diyas everywhere in the hostel. Students get sweets from hostel. We also celebrate different events and special occasions such as science day, international year of optics, physics fest, in-house symposium etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee is slightly expensive now, after the stipend revision. We have to pay fee every semester. But the facilities we get are good. We have to pay fee every semester, and also for the food and accommodation. For a PhD student there is no fee waiver is implemented.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I have got a scholarship when I joined here as a master's student physics, for being the first rank (IIT JAM) admitted here. The institute also offers scholarship to students with high CGPA> Many students including my friends have availed this scholarship also.
Campus Life :
IIT Madras campus, in spite of being at the heart of a busy city, is calm and serene. Nature's beauty is preserved and cherished by every individual residing inside the campus. Life inside the campus as a student is busy but fun. We live in hostels, together with friends, staying awake till late, sometimes solving assignments and sometimes watching our favorite movies or sometimes getting involved in some extra curricular activities. One learns to live together with monkeys and deer, to properly hide your water bottles and food packets from monkeys and to keep things out of their reach. Its fun and interesting. Life in this beautiful campus is precious, and fast!
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facilities are good now. It was really bad earlier for girls. Now there are few new hostels for girls and they are all built very well. There are lot of common space inside the hostel and facilities like TV, library etc are accessible inside the hostel.
Alumni/Alumna :
The Alumni here are very helpful. They are also supporting students to go abroad and attend conferences. Many IIT alumni are faculties here now. That way, they are giving it back to the system, which helped them achieve a lot in life.
Exam Structure :
There are 2 quizzes and an end semester examination. Grading is relative. Quizzes are sometimes open book, or even open laptop. They all focus on extend of understanding of the subject. Most the quizzes and exams test your ability to solve problems. There is no specific structure for the question paper. Everything depends on the faculty and the students.

Faculty :
Many faculties here are good teachers. They sometimes are great researchers also. They are highly qualified and most of them are approachable. They try to put maximum effort to make the learning experience as easy and productive as possible for the students.
