Remarks :
I choosed because my CEE marks which was 92 at that time was not enough to get admission in govt engineering colleges and the OBC cut off was 120+. So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course syllabus was according to the Gauhati University latest syllabus. But the syllabus is not comparable to IIT's syllabus as their syllabus is set at higher level. Industrial exposure is little low. It's not upto the mark. Faculties are nice, they are friendly. Sandeep bordoloi is one of the excellent teacher of our department (Electronics and Instrumentation engineering). P.K bordoloi sir is also one of the senior most profeesor who has enormous amount of knowledge.
Placement Experience :
The placement if we compare to other govt colleges is very poor. Bharti Airtel, L&T, Reliance Jio, TCS, these are some of the companies but the profile offered sometimes are very low and its not related to engineering also. The job offered will be of customer service or sales. There's no famous startup till now and entrepreneur cell doesn't exist in our college. So for placement its not good because one has to find their own.
College Events :
Campus life was good. In every February our college has festival named euphuism. It is a 3 day+night festival which includes technical competition, hackathon, robotic competition, singing, dancing, cultural events and dj nights and also with commercial singers being invited to perform. Excluding this many seminars is conducted with special guests from technology world. If we compare the size of the festival than its not that big which IIT's do but not that small too which other private colleges do.it can be called as average and one can enjoy and call it as n real festival.
Campus Life :
Infrastructure is very good.classes, libraries, gyms, labs, canteens, halls, WiFi everything is very good. Library is on a different building and the size maybe 100ftÌÑ30ft. The academic building has 5 floors with around 50-60 rooms. Equipments in every labs is updated and has everything that one lab needs for a particular practical.
Hostel Facilities :
I had opted for hostel but no in college hostel. The college hostel is bit expensive, at that time the rent was Rs 5000 for a single room with two boarders. But at other private hostels the rent is little lower with better food facilities. The rent is 30-35% lower. So i would recommend to find other private hostel outside the college premises. The average rental outside it Rs 3500 and there's lot of hostels available. It's easier to get one.
