A place to experience life

Remarks :

It's a good place. No one regrets while being here. As we say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So it would be very mean to say too good or too bad. It's all about how one feels for himself or herself. Rest, college is good, management is also good. Being a central govt institute you won't face any major issues related to management or else. The things are smooth there.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The courses are based on your branch. As it's an engineering college so a lot of disciplines are there. Most of the subjects are compulsory and some you have to choose according to the credit points of the subject. The subjects in each semester are selected according to the need of the individual i.e. from basics to industry and MNC specific. For b.tech for example, the entire first year is given a chance to study every domain subject, for example, C++, electrical engineering, basic electronics, manufacturing practices, ergonomics and many more. After the first year, branch oriented subjects are allotted. The next years build the technical knowledge and groom an individual for on-campus placements. To further prepare the individuals and keep them close to the industry. a lot of Industrial visits are organized for example a visit to the rail coach factory, Kapurthala. For chemical engineers, a visit to Ranbaxy and Cipla like industries are also organized. Yes, the subjects are very much relevant. Some of the credit should be given to the practical subjects which enhance the significance of the subject. Yes, the subjects have a quality that promotes research goals in the individuals. For example, my research topic is brain signal processing and I had study biomedical signal processing as one of the subjects in my course work.

Placement Experience :

I have seen many big companies visiting my college for placements. Such as Adobe (39lakh), Samsung(16lakh), trident, Amazon(13 lakh) jugnu, bluestack, cadence, future first, Oracle, and many coaching instiz like Akash, gate guru. The general steps include a screening round ( coding round or quantitative knowledge assessment) then group discussion write a detailed test round and finally an interview. Almost 90% of the students got place every year. Rest are either not eligible or interested in higher studies. To prepare the students, mock placement drives or tests ate conducted by the placement coordinator or representative.

College Events :

A lot of events are celebrated every semester. One unique thing that I have noticed is an event called Bharat dhavani is celebrated on language day which is very good. A mixture of cultural and technical events are celebrated under the tags called techniti, utkaansh etc. Rest treasure hunt or Roadies kind of events are also organized.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is good in this college. For a PhD course we have starting tuition fees of 22000 and after that 15000 every semester. No nothing like additional fees. They charge you when you take your seat. Yes, the college provides full transparency in giving you the entire fee structure. Accordingly, the fees for b.tech and m.tech courses are structured. I do not know exactly but Yess everyone has to pay semester wise

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I have not opted or availed of any of this. But yes sbi bank is there in the college itself. It provides a quite good deal to the students who want to avail themselves the loan. For general and category students, the loan system is good. The +2 marks and parents salary record is the needed things to apply for the loan. And yes scholarship is also there. It's available on the site itself (www.nitj.ac.in)

Campus Life :

Campus Life is very good. It's so green and Lucious and very peaceful life as well as very enjoyable evenings. A temple is there in the college itself so one can go there for peace of mind. A lot of grounds like football. Basketball court. Lawn tennis court.gym And our favourite canteen and eatery area. All in all its a good place to study and enjoy your life. A community hall is there in which ethnic and cultural programs like Ganesh Chaturthi, Saraswati Chaturthi are celebrated. Gener ratio as well as equation is good. No one feels the minority here. The students are more oriented towards their life, goals and enjoyment. Nothing like politics or economic issues are raised.

Hostel Facilities :

No, I have not opted for a hostel. But hostel fees are also nominal. The average amount is 2500 to 3000 for six months for a sharing room (with one partner). And after that mess fee is 24000 I guess. it depends on how much you consume. There is complete transparency in the mess bill also. so don't worry nobody charge any extra penny from you. The college has enough space that no one needs to go out for pg until one wishes for that.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes, the college seniors are actually the right persons for all enquiries related to any of our problems. Sometimes many of them pull your leg also but inky for fun sake. All are very helpful. Today also although they are in different fields, when u ask for help they are there for you. I had a problem in my Matlab based program and I went to my senior. Even after being so busy, he managed to save some time to guide and solve my problem

Admission :

Yes. I had a test for PhD on July 19, 2016. I got the first rank on the test. A merit list was uploaded after that an interview was scheduled on 21 July 2019 to give insights into your work to the entire selection team. After that, the merit list was displayed on 28th July 2016. N yes my name was there on the list and j have to submit the fees in a week's period. I did the same and got enrolled for my course on August 4, 2016

Faculty :

Faculty is the backbone and front end of a college. My college is blessed to have such a faculty. All the faculty is having a doctorate degree and many have even post doc. In short, all are well qualified to guide even post doc students. The number of lectures are like 48-50 per semester per subject. The average age of a teacher is 40. And the teachers according to their research field are allotted the subjects. N yes, the subjects are relevant that one can relate to relevant industry experience and certification.

Placement Experience:

In PhD, there are not many company placement opportunities. The placement cell of the university is very hard-working and active and provides every opportunity to the students. Majorly after PhD degree, most of the students go for teaching jobs.

The placements are good. But not God for some departments. Many companies like Tata, google, Mahindra, skyroot, spacefield, Vikash group etc. Offer of 35 lac for google. Google 35lac, Vikash group 7 lac and the average for the total could be 8 lac for all departments. 70% Students get placed and some go for start-up and higher studies

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course was chosen due to I have done my post-graduation in material science-related project. That's why i have enrolled in this course. The papers are well related to the research area on which they want to research. There should be some improvement required on the course curriculum i.e there should be some moderns technology subjects must be included and teaching methodologies should be easy to understandable. In a semester generally, two exams were conducted (i.e. mid sem and end sem) and the level is a little bit difficult.
