Remarks :

Positives: Good Infrastructure. Great Teaching Staff. Good Food facilities. Good transportation services. Negatives: Away from the main city. Still under construction. Mess food quality is deteriorating.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The Biotech IIT Hyd course curriculum is good as per the standards of Indian education and the professors are highly adept and qualified. The courses in Biotechnology Dept. for M.Tech are the same for PhD students. The only improvement required is the addition of Bioprocessing course in the curriculum.

Placement Experience :

From the Dept. Of Biotechnology, placements are not easy as core pharma or biotech companies do not come up for campus placements. But once you qualify and get your degree, it is easy to get a job when you go out and apply individually to companies like HiMedia, Pfizer etc. Internship is available upon directly approaching the professor.

College Events :

Elan is THE fest of IIT Hyd. It is a grand event with events cultural and technical. You can check out by googling it 'IIT Hyd Elan' and also check out in YouTube. From events ranging from Robot wars to Band competition, Elan is all that a college fest can hope for.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Feasible, I would say for PhD as we get stipend money. But for the B.Techs it is expensive as no scholarship or stipend is available. Even for MTech peeps, there is a minimal stipend money to care and fend for the expenses.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

GATE scholarship or CSIR NET scholarship or DBT scholarship. These are the thouree common scholarships for PhD students in IIT Hyd. Other than that, loans can be taken from YES bank or AXIS bank. I have not availed of any loans.

Campus Life :

Cultural activities like dance and band competitions are always encouraged. Even coding and riddling competitions are quite often held to encourage students be happy aside from their studies and daily life.

Hostel Facilities :

5 stars are not enough to describe the hostel facilities as these are new IIT hostels and have good infrastructure. Each student is alloted one single room and it has pod system where each floor has four pods. Each pod has one common washouroom and 8 single rooms.

External Expense : Rs.4000 - Rs.7000

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes. Not only the alumni network but the management facilities are also very helpful. The college authorities do listen and try helping. Seniors are friendly to the juniors and the cultural activities going on, help in this fine bonding.

Admission :

I had qualified GATE 2015 (Biotechnology) and was selected for an interview upon application to the PhD program. I cracked the interview process and was accepted into PhD course in Biotechnology Department of IIT Hyd.

Faculty :

In one word, Awesome. The professors are really good and interested in the welfare of the students. They are very helpful and always available for clearing doubts. I have very good experience with the professors.

Admission:

For the admission in PHD course the candidates can directly visit the official website for the application form. For selection , the candidates have to appear for the interview round . After the selection at the interview round , I had got a call back from center and after the payment of fees .

Placement Experience:

After the completion of our research work and PhD, there is an ample of opportunities for the candidates . There are carrier opportunities in the field of diagnostics , administrative officer post and various other golden opportunities knocks the door of the qualified candidates. Candidates can also grab the job opportunity at the same research center itself or the other depending upon their choice and interests.

Admission:

Anyone having an M.sc degree can seek admission in the college. A student who has qualified the exam of CSIRUGC (NET) is eligible for the admission in the course. Later for the selection process there is a personal interview session conducted by AcSIR (CSIR-NGRI). The application process is online.

Placement Experience:

We are given many internship opportunities. The students pursuing post-graduation who are in their last semester or second semester can apply for the internships. Each year there are summer as well as winter internships. A certificate is also awarded to the students who successfully complete the internships.

The student seeking admission in the institute will be eligible if the student has given CSIRUGC (NET) and then there would be an interview round for the selection process. One can also seek admission on the basis of the M.sc Degree. Completing the formalities of the admission after the selection will you a part of the institute.

Placement Experience:

The summer internships are a vital role that is created by the institute. It has proved too helpful to many students pursuing their post-graduation in their fields. Students are trained in their internships and over 100 postgraduate students are been trained during the internships.

Remarks:

NGRI is really a promising institute for students of doctorate . All supportive professors and all facilities for research makes it more efficient. Library is plus point of institute which is big.
