Student review

Remarks :

I can't think anything negative because there is no any. It's. Very prestigious college of India. Very big campus infrastructure with largest land area. Highest population of students is here. Good for placements and job opportunity. Also culturally it is very active

Course Curriculum Overview :

It was good sometime tough depends on the college organising it. We have to have knowledge of almost each and every subject we have studied in our bachelor degree. We have to Learn them deeper and deeper.

Placement Experience :

Yes, college try to provide internship to almost everyone but some are there who can't get those opportunities. There are many big companies come for placements and job procedure in December every year.

College Events :

Spring fest in Feb, it's a 3 day cultural event where a lot of people come together to participate in different events. Kshitij a tech event in Jan ending Space challenge in Nov Inter IIT in December. And many more like conferences are organised frequently.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It's feasible as it is semi government funded for us. the post graduation people. But as from now onwards the hike in fee will make all IITs expensive so I guess student body will prefer iiits more.

Fees and Financial Aid :

There are alot of scholarship available for students depending on Thier qualifications and their ability to pay. We get the stipend as of we qualified the gate exam and HMC is the payer for that. Expect that we can apply for other scholarship also

Campus Life :

There are almost every sport facility available here. We have a newly infrastructured gnan ghosh stadium for Olympic games. We have a Tata sports complex having around 4 grounds for cricket and football. Apart from this we have technology gymkhana for indoors games like badminton , table tennis et

Hostel Facilities :

Yes I live in a hostel here. In Lal Bahadur Shastri hall of residence. It's a very big hall. I love the culture and unity among the halls here Every year we have inter hall sports competition and also illumination

Alumni/Alumna :

Well known Sundar Pichai is from KHARAGPUR. There are alot of celebrities which are from here like Arvind Kejriwal, Jeetu Bhai and many more. All are very proficient in there respective fields. All are very humble and can never forgot their college life in kahragpur.

Admission :

Appeared for gate 2018 in Feb got qualified with 99 percentile. Max marks was 100. It's an all India level exam. Around 2lakhs students appear for computer science branch. It is conducted for every branch. IIT Madras has conducted the exam my time. This year Guwahati is conducting the exam.

Faculty :

Some were very good in both knowledge and their teaching ability. Some don't know how to convey their knowledge to the students. All were very busy in Thier respective fields and have many sources and resources for research and development

I had to clear two exams to get admission here. First was the entrance exam conducted by the university itself, called WBUT PGET (Postgraduate Entrance Test) and the second was GATE. I performed well in both of them and received a call letter from the university. During the counselling, I showed my class 10th & 12th scorecard, graduation degree, WBUT PGET scorecard, and GATE scorecard. Once my documents were verified, I had to pay the fee.

Remarks:

Before joining Mtech in Computer Science and Data Processing (Mathematics department) in IIT Kharagpur I completed M.Sc in Mathematics from IIT Madras. At that time wanted to go for industry jobs so I decided to pursue M.Tech course related to computer science. Specifically, I am interested in Machine learning and statistical data analysis. That time I had two options either IIT Madras (Mtech in Industrial mathematics and scientific computing) or IIT Kharagpur (Mtech in CSDP). I preferred IIT Kgp and joined it.

The candidate applying for admission should have the eligibility of 60% in B.Tech. The selection will be based as per IEMJEE.

Placement Experience:

A lot of tech companies visit the college like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Capgemini for placements. Hence, if you score well and have your concepts clear, the placement changes increases a lot.

I took PGET(Post Graduate Entrance Test) 2014, and My State rank was 274. I was wanted to study power system and only few colleges are there to give m.tech in power system. The best college in view of infrastructure and as well as faculty is Narula Institute of Technology. That is the main reason for opting this college.

Admission:

For admission you can direct contact in their admission desk and the phone no. is- +91 33 2583 7029. One should qualify in GATE or state level PGET Exam to get into this college for Master of Technology degree. The admission process generally goes on from august- september every year. One should qualify for the above written exam and do call the admission desk or directly walk into the college for the admission.

I took GATE 2016 examination in mechanical engineering as entrance test and scored AIR 1400. I opted for IIT KGP because of its excellence in research field.

Placement Experience:

Lot of recruiters have been coming over the years and this number is increasing rapidly. So student who maintains his CGPA above 8 easily gets a job. Placement percentage is about 60 - 65 % with average package of 6.5 lakhs per year. Top recruiters are Mercedes benz, General motors, Tata motors and many more.

GATE my score was 745. I opt for this college because it was the best college i ever dreamt of in by b tech also the course that i wanted was only in this college. One more thing was its location not very far from my home.

Placement Experience:

Placement status is declining day by day though the overall placement status is better than most of the colleges. Companies like nestle, tetrapack, mother dairy always come for placement and packages lie between 6 to 9 lpa.
