IIT KHARAGPUR Review

Dislikes

  • There is nothing much to be disliked about, But the companies here which came for placement and internship has provided less packages in the year 2023 but this was because of the recession which was going on worldwide.
  • Architecture department is loaded, the third year is very hectic and if you are in any society or student organisations, it will surely affect your CGPA

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course here is good, comparing with top Architecture colleges is not that much oriented towards architecture but this is the thing which is good for students to pursue their favour6field like consultancy or Finance or management or Tech

Internships Opportunities :

We have various internship opportunities for every course students. The placement companies here also provides internships according to their requirements or vacancies. Also there is an off campus internship availability for all the students. A student can find minimum 2-3 internships in different fields or companies and then can find their actual interest and passion and work on them. This improves their probability to get a high paid job in placements

Placement Experience :

Around 70 percent students here opt for placements, others might go for Higher studies or for business/startups. This number might decrease this year and within next few years as the Startup craze is increasing in students

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The Fees is catorized in 3 different parts. 1st is Tution Fees, which is 1 lakh for General Category Students and For SC,ST or OBC students Tution Fee is zero. 2nd is Hostel Fees, which is around 8500 rs which is for all the category students. 3rd is Mess fees which changes on Hostel to hostel and is around 32 thousand plus. Everything combines comes near 1 lakh 50 thousand, all fees is per semester.

Campus Life :

I am involved in Spring Fest and Technology Literary Society in our institution. Along with that I'm also in teams like Zonal Nasa convection 2024, we've got a trophy in 2022 and I'll give my best for 2024. We have a team which has students from various departments working together for Solar Decathlon. And yes Everything is Manageable

Hostel Facilities :

We get free Wifi, Electricity. All of our Hostles are solar powered buildings. We get 24X7 electricity, water, wifi, hot water too. Rooms are cleaned weekly by hostel staffs. Washrooms are daily cleaned. All the Hostles are connected with each other and in some boys hostel canteens, girls too are allowed to have food. There is not much restriction in campus

Admission :

I got All india rank 5 in Jee Mains B.arch. I could get admission in any Architecture college in India. I chose IIT Kharagpur for opportunities and experience at an IIT. Mostly to confirm my ambition, if I chose architecture even after having various opportunities for myself, I would surely be a Good Architect.

Faculty :

Architecture is one of the toughest course here provided to the undergraduate students, but still you're learning something. We are learning here everything including engineering like management, soft skills, business, time management and most importantly how to crack interviews. Architecture Faculties are amazing in teaching and student relationships both. Marking criteria is mostly 20% marks in atten6and assignment submissions, 30% marks in mid semester examination and 50% in end semester examinations.

Placement Experience:

so if we talk about placements, then its currently not good but it does not means that placement is totally zero . it varies every year but currently its going down. so after 3rd year you can apply for internships and placements . and if you are in 1st or 2nd year then you can apply for free or paid internships to learn more and more to build you cv. Highest package offered was 2.68 crore rupees per annum and average package is around 18 - 20 lakhs rupees per annum. companies participated in last session was 61 and total offers made were 700. number of international offers were 19 (6 offers were more than 1 crore per annum). number of students placed in 2023 were 1750. popular recruiters were ITC limited, goldman, sachs, HUL . so those who dont get any job or they are not placed , they basically continue to become enterpreneur. my plans after completing my degree to become a famous architect.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from 3rd year (B.Tech) and 4th year (B.Arch). However, B.Arch students often do not opt for campus placements which are generic. They usually seek employment options themselves outside. Yet, the average placements in IIEST is impressive, the highest even reaching 40LPA for a select few. I haven't opted for campus placements. I am going to seek a job in Delhi or Mumbai (hubs for good architectural practice) followed by higher studies after the requisite experience.

Remarks:

Lots of Freedom. Depends on the student to use it wisely. The college does not have intime, hence people can roam around anywhere nearly any time. This increases the safely issue. Also, due to too much feeedom, students end up in substanxe abuse quite often. It is upto the student to wisely go about the utilise the freedom to build good skill sets and interact.

Remarks:

Our college administration is quite bad, they don't understand the needs of architecture department but our faculties are very much helpful what i know now all is because of their teaching and constant support but infrastructure is quite bad for a private college

Remarks:

Being a private college under a branding, an environment of class segregation is created throughout the college which is not good for the mental health of students who take admission on the basis of merit. The class segregation affects the academics of the students as well. There is one good thing. There is a faculty feedback system that helps record the grievances of students regarding the teaching staffs and facilititates required measures to change the situation.

Entrance Preview:

Formerly IIT-JEE, now known as JEE-Advanced, is the entrance examination and the only option to get into any of the IITs. I had appeared twice for the exam, securing All-India-Ranks 17249 and 9471 in both the attempts.

Placement Experience:

IITs offer the maximum and highest placements in India, and IIT Kharagpur ranks 2-4 among all, most of the times. Highest package offered varies from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crores per annum.
