Studies at IIT Guwahati

IIT Guwahati was founded in 1994 with educational programs starting in 1995. IIT Guwahati is the 6th IIT established by the Government of India in Guwahati, Assam. It has rapidly gained recognition for its academics and research contributions. 

The Assam Accord was signed in 1985 between the All Assam Students Union and the Government of India mentioning the setting up of an IIT. Currently, the institute has 11 departments, 7 interdisciplinary centres and 5 schools covering all major disciplines. 

IIT Guwahati is the only institute in India among the top 100 world universities under 50 years of age by Times Higher Education (THE) in 2014. With time, the institute has expanded its infrastructure, research facilities and programs becoming one of the best institutes in India.
