Which is the best, NIT Hamirpur or VIT Vellore?
NIRF has ranked NIT Hamirpur #151 out of 200 (in India) for the year 2020 and ranked #98th out of 300 for B.Tech. On the other hand, VIT Vellore was ranked #15th out of 300 for B.Tech courses by NIRF rankings. Now let’s take a look at some other factors.

Which one is better for CSE: Jaypee Institute of Information Technology or NIT Hamirpur?
There are several factors which one can consider while comparing two institutions. Here are some things that I considered while choosing my college.
NIT Hamirpur will offer you the prestigious ‘NIT’ tag. As compared to other colleges in this region, the environment over there is superior. By environment I mean the learning, interaction and personal development offered at an institution. The placements are continuously improving with new companies visiting the campus each year, offering better packages. This college has shown positive growth in terms of exposure and student- teacher interaction as well.
Even though I’m a student of NIT Hamirpur, my opinion is devoid of such biases. Thus, according to me, NIT Hamirpur is a better choice for your CSE program.
What things need to be changed in NIT Hamirpur?
Though this is a subjective question, here are a few things I would personally like for NIT Hamirpur to change-
- The teaching methodology and overall administration should be changed. Things like semester registration and hostel allotment should be shifted to online mode.
- Hostel allotment shouldn’t be done on a first come first serve basis.
- Document verification should be moved online.
- There should be branch-specific subjects from the first year itself.
- Students’ feedback on teachers should be taken seriously.
- There shouldn’t be classes for open electives.
- Better senior junior interaction should be facilitated.
- Buses should be provided each day on time, so that students can visit the market.
Though NIT Hamirpur is a wonderful place, I would very much wish for these changes to be made in its overall management.
Is NIT Hamirpur a good choice for an MSc in physics?
NIT hamirpur is ranked 63 by NIRF rankings 2019 that makes it one of the leading technical institutes in India. At NIT Hamirpur, students take up research projects under the highly qualified faculty, some of who are working under government funded projects.
Curriculum:
- M.Sc. (Physics) programme embraces all imminent basic Physics courses and laboratory practicals.
- The theory courses are designed within the line of GATE and CSIR syllabus. In interest, the programme is complemented with exceptional topics like Non-Destructive Trial, Lasers and Applications, Thin-Films and Applications, Nano-Science and Technology etc. as electives.
Admission
- For admission into MSc physics. a bachelor's degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks is required.
- Applicants need to receive a valid score in IIT JAM to apply.
- The total tuition fee for MSc in physics is around 60,000.
- The student strength is between 20-25.
Placement:
- During the last placement season 80% of the students got placed with the highest package ranging around INR 17 lacs per annum and the average package ranging around INR 3.5 lacs per annum.
- Samsung, EXL, L&T, CapGemini, GAP, etc. were some of the top recruiters of the institution.
Faculty:
- The faculty at NIT Hamirpur are very great. Almost all faculty members hold a PhD in their respective disciplines and have patents to their name.
- The faculty is very interactive and supportive towards students.
The college you desire to choose always remains secondary, since the primary focus should always be your interest in any particular subject. No matter which college you opt to, you can always pave your way to success as long as you are dedicated and passionate about your career.
What should I prefer, MNIT Jaipur civil, NIT Hamirpur ECE, EE, or NIT Kurukshetra EE?
It's tough to choose between MNIT Jaipur Civil, NIT Hammirpur ECE, EE, or NIT Kurukshetra EE. The answer depends on your interests alone. However here are a few things you would like to consider
- Interest : This may not be the best criteria to determine the right branch because engineering students are mere class 12 pass-outs having no knowledge outside their PCM syllabus.
- Placements : If you are after hefty packages, then you will have to prioritize branch over college. Here is the preference order you can follow CSE>IT>Mech=ECE>EE>Civil
- Government jobs : If you are willing to work in the government sector or PSU, then NIT Kurukshetra is the right place for you. A lot of PSUs visit the institute every year. But here choice of branch and college both matters. The choice of the branch for this should be Mech>Civil>EE>ECE.
- Civil Services Preparation: If you are planning to prepare for Civil services, then choose NIT Kurukshetra over NIT Hamirpur because the workload is less and you will get a lot of free time to study. You can go for branches like civil, electrical, and mechanical.
- MBA : If you are planning to pursue an MBA then your branch doesn't matter. What matters is the brand of the college you hail from. NIT not only provides the NIT tag but also gives you enough time to prepare for the CAT.
- MS/Mtech/Research : If you want to pursue a career in research, or pursue an MS from a foreign university, then choose ECE. This field has a lot of scope in terms of research.
Ultimately, the final decision depends on your inclinations and future prospects so choose wisely.
Which is better EEE at NIT Raipur or BIT Mesra or NIT Hamirpur?
When I asked a senior of mine the same question, she told me to exclude NIT Raipur. The reason is, NIT Raipur is one of the newer institutes and to be considered worthy, the institute has to improve a lot.
The other two institutes, however, would be a tough call.
My senior said BIT Mesra is slightly ahead of NIT Hamirpur just because the former has been around for much longer than the latter.
Despite all that, NIT Hamirpur is located in pleasant surroundings. In addition to that, it will also give you the NIT tag and is an INI. So, in the case of comparison by merit, it all depends on who has the higher cut-off in a particular session.
NIT Hamirpur is also a new NIT and it is improving with each day. On the other hand, the quality of education, placements in the electrical branch of NIT Raipur are going down with each passing day.
Which is better: metallurgy in MNIT or civil in NIT Hamirpur?
Both MNIT and NIT Hamirpur are reputed institutes in India. Every coin has two sides, so you need to choose your path wisely at this point; otherwise, you will regret it throughout your life. Priority should be given to your interest in the subject. Now let's talk about the colleges.
MNIT Jaipur
- It is ranked 70th among the other Engineering colleges in India by MHRD
- The location is commendable, and connectivity to different parts of the nation is possible
- You can easily access all the shopping malls and famous shops
- The climate is very bad; it is difficult to tolerate the hot weather
NIT Hamirpur
- Ranked 59th among other Engineering institutions in MHRD
- Well-road connectivity, you can easily access to bus, trains, or planes
- The weather conditions are manageable
- This institute is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. You can enjoy the beauty of lush, green nature. Here, you will have the best days of your life
Therefore, NIT Hamirpur is a better choice than MNIT
