Which is the best branch in NIT Hamirpur?
I am a student of CSE at NIT Hamirpur. Here are a few facts about my branch-
- Placements- CSE gets the highest package during placement season at NIT Hamirpur. The overall placements for CSE are good. Well known brands visit the campus each year to hire software engineers. Many students end up with multiple offers. During the 2022 placement season, 96.81% CSE students were placed. 139 offers were made in total, and the highest package stood at INR 1.12 CPA.
- Faculty- The faculty consists of good and supportive teachers. The classes are lesser in number, compared to other branches. Teacher-student relationship is good. You’ll hardly attend lab sessions as a CSE student.
- Student Ratio- The female to male ratio is comparatively much better for CSE.
Considering all these factors, and the fact that it offers the best placement records, I would say that CSE is the best branch at NIT Hamirpur.
How is ECE at NIT HAMIRPUR?
ECE at NIT Hamirpur is considered a pretty good branch with a decent placement scenario. The faculty is well-educated and friendly. Recently there has been a change in the Director of the campus and also the H.o.D. so the situation is expected to get even better.
The institute has developed better industrial relations with companies either through Skype or through campus visits. Moreover, the professors have become more passionate and helpful. Recently, two teams from the ECE Department won a National Competition.

Is there an internet facility in hostel rooms for NIT Hamirpur 1st year students?
The Kailash Boys hostel for freshers of NIT Hamirpur, has various blocks. The old ones are- A, B, C, D, and the new one is E. The old blocks have a good LAN network facility. The LAN network can be turned into WiFi network using cmd. E block has a decent Wi-Fi facility, however, there are some rooms where the network connectivity may be poor.
But overall, block E is better. This is because it has bigger, well-maintained newer rooms. Each of its rooms has 3 fans, 1 per bed.
Overall, facility-wise, E block is better. On the other hand, the older blocks provide better internet connectivity. You can easily shift to an older block later on, by submitting an application.
What should I choose, CS at NIT Hamirpur or CS at NIT Raipur?
NIT Hamirpur is ranked 98 among the best engineering colleges of India by NIRF, 2020. Admissions for CS in this university are based on the rank of JEE mains followed by counselling and interview. NIT Hamirpur also has a good placement rate.
NIT Raipur is ranked 67 among the best engineering institutes in India by NIRF, 2020. The admissions process for NIT Raipur is similar to NIT Hamirpur, based on JEE rank followed by counselling.

NIT Raipur:
All necessary facilities are available on campus. The CS Faculty is well-qualified and cooperative. Teachers guide students regarding their career opportunities and placements.
Overall NIT, Hamirpur and NIT Raipur are really equally good Institutes for CS. Placement rate of the universities is almost 92%. So, choose an institute according to your convenience.

Chemistry is the best department at NIT Hamirpur. They provide well-equipped labs, good infrastructure, and awesome campus life. The teachers are supportive and encourage students to express their viewpoints and engage in open discussion. You are also free to ask questions or express doubts. They will provide as much support for our growth. If you are a nature lover, then this campus is at your pace. So you can choose NIT Hamirpur without any hesitation.
How is chemical engineering at NIT Hamirpur? Should I opt for it if I get it?
NIT Hamirpur introduced Chemical Engineering in 2013. As a comparatively newer branch, its infrastructure is under development. The faculty is great. The teachers are supportive and possess good knowledge of their field.
You’ll be marked leniently in your exams. The department is quite nurturing and offers a stress-free environment for its students. As far as placements are concerned, 71.70% students from Chemical Engineering were placed during 2022. 43 offers were received in total, and the highest salary was recorded at INR 10 LPA. So the placements are very decent.
NIT Hamirpur has a beautiful campus, surrounded by mesmerizing natural beauty. You’ll really enjoy your time over there and gain a lifetime experience.

Which is better NIT Hamirpur or IIITM Gwalior for CSE/IT?
One of my friends recently completed his graduation from NIT Hamirpur and another one is still studying at IIITM Gwalior. From the reviews I obtained from both of them, NIT Hamirpur seems to be the better option. Here is why
- The alumni network is very strong such that even average students get placed thanks to the help of the well-placed alumni.
- The college is located in a small hilly region surrounded by the serenity of nature that makes your time worth it.
- The placement scenario is great and even average students with a CGPA of around 5 get placed.
