Can I apply for a U.P. scholarship or other scholarships at IET Lucknow while on a fee waiver seat?

ST
Shivani Tripathi Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
B.Tech from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2022)

No, you cannot apply for UP and other scholarships while on a fee waiver seat. If you apply for a scholarship being on a fee waiver seat then your seat might get canceled as well.

  • When you have got admission on a fee waiver seat then your fees will go down significantly.
  • The college does allow scholarships and financial assistance to other students.
  • The condition is that your family’s annual income should be less than 2 lakhs per annum. Your parents should not be state or central government employees.
  • For SC/ST candidates the family income should not exceed INR 2.5 LPA.
  • There is also a requirement for an income certificate which has to be submitted for getting a scholarship.

The scholarships are provided by the government. They are not provided by the college. Once you fulfill the criteria. The dean of student welfare will help you out through the process and you will start receiving the scholarship from the government into your bank accounts.

Which college should I choose for CSE, IET Lucknow or JSS Noida? The fees are not an issue. Focus on environment, campus, hostel and what is taught in CSE.

AA
Aishikh Arora Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studies CSE at JSS Noida, (2018)

I can give you some information on both institutes since I have friends from both IET Lucknow and JSS Noida. Based on the reviews that I got from my friends I will say choosing JSS Noida will be better. It has a locational advantage, which plays a crucial role.

  • The curriculum of JSS Noida is in accordance with the current industry trends. In the first two semesters, you will learn the same courses as any other engineering institutes in India. You can get the detailed syllabus from the website.
  • JSS has a good reputation in the industry. Alumni of the institute are working on Google, Microsoft, etc. Many reputed companies visit the campus for the placement drive including IBM, Wipro, TCS, Amazon, etc.

For IET, the location is an issue. The faculty and curriculum are not that great either. So, I will suggest you choose JSS Noida.

Which is better, IIIT Una IT or IET Lucknow IT?

AS
Aakash Soni Posted On : July 26th, 2021
B.Tech Physics & Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Una

Among IIIT Una and IET Lucknow, IT at IET Lucknow can be considered a better choice, mostly due to the reason of connectivity. There are several aspects that prefer an institute over the other in this case, some of which are listed below to help students make a decision.

  • IET Lucknow is a much more established and well-known college among the two and is also top-notch in terms of infrastructure and facilities. It is one of the best institutes in Uttar Pradesh too.
  • One prime disadvantage of IIIT Una is that it does not have a permanent campus to date. The classes and labs are held at the campus of NIT Hamirpur.
  • Although the weather of Harimpur is much more soothing than that of Lucknow, the bad connectivity of Harimpur creates a lot of problems for students. For students of other states, it will take at least a day to reach home from the hostel of NIT Hamirpur.
  • In terms of education and placement, both the institutes are almost at the same level.

IET Lucknow is preferred over the other for most students. If you want to experience the weather and scenery of Himachal Pradesh, IIIT Una is a good place.

In IET Lucknow if I want to prepare for civil services..will I opt for off campus PG near it and its criteria?

RR
Rohit Rao Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

To prepare for any Civil Services Examination, you will have to take a PG apartment. Make sure that the environment around the PG is very quiet and there are no noises around. This will help you in concentrating on your studies.

The campus hostels are also good. Every year many students qualify for CAT, GATE, IES, and many other competitive examinations. But off-campus PG will be more preferable for you.

You can take your graduation subject like Civil or Mechanical Engineering as your optional subject in the Civil Service examinations. These branches have good faculty members.

If you want to take non-engineering subjects branches to prepare, you can go for CS/IT branches. These branches have few classes and you can get ample time for preparations. The placements in these branches are also good. The college curriculum is not very hectic and you can easily continue your preparation.

Will I get into IET, Lucknow if I have 1286 in GNGL and 9758 in general?

RP
Raina Parulekar Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studied at University of Mumbai (2019)

If you have secured a general rank of 9758 in the UPSEE examination, the probability of you getting admission into branches like CSE, IT, ECE, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in IET Lucknow is less.

  • You can surely try out for Chemical or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Most probably, you would have to wait till the last round of counseling.
  • My brother secured a rank of 9400 last year and was not eligible for any of the branches which students usually prefer for engineering in India.

You have not specified the course in your question. So, here’s a list of the cutoff ranks for the year 2021 of all the courses offered by the institute:

Courses General OBC SC ST

Which branches can I get at IET Lucknow with a 4,562 rank in the OBC category?

AP
Aastha Panigrahi Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studies ECE at IET Lucknow, (2018)

Before diving into any conclusion, you should rather clarify the category you are talking about. It is slightly unclear whether 4,562 is your general rank or is based on the OBC category ranking system. Your primary concern should be mentioning your open category rank since the allotment is taken forward on the basis of your rank.

  • In case, your rank (4,562) is from the general or open category rank, then you will have a fair opportunity to get your preferred branch. However, your selection might or might not be covered in the beginning few rounds, but you will undeniably be given a seat in the subsequent ones.
  • On the other hand, if your rank (4,562) is from the OBC category, then your selection at IET Lucknow will supposedly be quite difficult.

However, You should be well acquainted with the latest statistics of the institute so as to avoid any confusion.

Is internal sliding in IET Lucknow done before the spot round counselling? How is it conducted? Does this happen according to the general rank?

ST
Samrat Tiwari Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

Yes, internal sliding is done before the sport counselling in the IET Lucknow. College will release a notice regarding the internal sliding, you just apply to that. The remaining seats are fulfilled through spot counselling.

  • The internal sliding is also conducted in the first year and if you have good marks in the semester then you will get a good branch of your choice.
  • The internal sliding is done to fill the seats if they are vacant in a particular branch.
  • The UPSEE rank is also taken into consideration.
  • Students with better ranks get preference. Although this process is tedious and may take time as well.
  • You will have to continue attending classes of your present branch till a new branch is allocated to you.

If the branch is changed then it may happen that you will have to appear for the examination of the new branch without attending any classes. Your teachers and classmates might help you at that point of time.

What is induction programme at IET Lucknow? Is it necessary to have 75% attendance in it?

AK
Ajit Kumar Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

IET Lucknow earlier used to have a very lenient approach towards attendance. But since the new director has joined the institute, Mr. H.K Paliwal has mandated that students should have an attendance of at least 75% throughout the semester to attend the exams and the tests.

If you have attendance lower than 75% then you may be discarded from giving tests and exams. Even final-year students have suffered from this new rule. So I would suggest not to mess up with this.

Is there any person who was a day scholar in IET Lucknow? What is the experience living outside..what are pros and cons as I'm also deciding for civil services from first year.

NG
Navin Suresh Gopal Posted On : August 10th, 2021
Studied at the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

Yes, there are many students who were day scholars. A few of them were local and some of them lived outside the IET hostels. Make sure you take a room near the institution. If you plan to stay outside, make sure you are financially stable to keep yourself punctual and healthy.

You will find rooms on a rental basis near your college, check if you can afford to stay there. Plan your finances well. Do not reside further away from the college. If you stay outside hostels, you might face some problems with reasonable food options. Otherwise, everything else will be easy.

What should I opt if I'm getting HBTU chemical branch, IET lucknow lower branches or JSS Noida CS in terms of placement and environment?

SP
Sharmili Purohit Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Presidency University Kolkata (2019)

HBTU and IET Lucknow both are government colleges and are considered to be tier 3 colleges whereas JSS Noida is a private institute and is considered a Tier 4 college. Normally tier 3 is favored upon tier 4 but in this case, JSS Noida is a very fine institute as of now both in terms of academics and placements.

  • Private colleges like JSS Noida offer better opportunities and facilities than government institutes.
  • The placement HBTU and IET Lucknow are the same as JSS Noida.
  • Students from the CSE branch of JSS Noida get into well-based companies and MNCs and are offered packages far better than that of HBTU and IET Lucknow.
  • Normally students from HBTU and IET Lucknow get offered packages worth around 8-10 LPA.
  • This is the same with JSS Noida for other engineering courses but for CSE the packages reach up to 25 LPA.
  • Students from Chemical engineering are not employed by any core companies in India as they are very few.
Categories Chemical Engineering at HBTU CS at JSS Noida Lower Engineering Branches at IET Lucknow
Course Fee 5.17 lakhs 2.20 lakhs 3.44 LPA
Highest CTC 17.3 LPA 23-25 LPA 9-10 LPA
Average CTC 9 LPA 16 LPA 5-6 LPA
Recruiting Companies Reliance, Tata, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. Accenture, IBM, Wipro, HCL, etc. TCS, CTS, Dell, Tech Mahindra, etc.

CSE branch has more value than any other engineering branch. The best option would be CSE from JSS Noida rather than Chemical engineering from HBTU or other engineering branches from IET Lucknow.
