Does IET Lucknow has suitable environment for studying for other competitive exams?

Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Lucknow is an autonomous constituent college of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). Though it lacks quality placements, it more than makes up for the lack of it by providing a very good environment for competitive exams after graduation.

Students here excel in various competitive exams for higher education and government jobs such as CAT, GATE, Bank PO and Clerical, SSC, CDS, etc. There are various institutes nearby which you can join for preparation while still attending your college. Also, the attendance is very lenient, and academic pressure is minimal.

Can I get CS in IET Lucknow with a 660 general rank and a 90 girl's rank in the UPSEE?

First of all, congratulations on securing such a good rank in your examination. With the rank that you have achieved, you can very easily get admission into the CS branch of the institute. The fact that you have the advantage of a good girl’s rank would also increase the probability.

  • If still, you are unable to get admission into the institute, don’t worry.
  • There are a total of 3 rounds in the counseling process where you would be given the option to choose the float option which would automatically transfer your preference for the next round.
  • My cousin secured a girl rank of 98 last year and was eligible for admission into the CS branch of the institute.
  • If you get admission into the institute but not in the CS branch in these three-round, you would have the option to appear for the internal sliding program after getting enrolled in the institute.
  • IET organizes an internal sliding program every year to fill the vacant seats for several branches.
  • For example, if somehow you get admission for the IT branch and you wish to change it to CS, you can participate in the internal sliding program of the institute.

Given below is a table that includes the cutoff details of IET Lucknow in regards to the general rank and general girls rank for your reference (IET Lucknow UPSEE Cut-Off 2021):

Branch General General (Female)
Computer Science and Engineering 193-342 266-430

The Internal sliding is scheduled within a week from the date of the last round of counseling, so you should always try and keep yourself updated.

It completely depends upon your overall academic credential, alongside the general girls’ rank. However, it is not quite easy securing a seat at IET Lucknow. On the flip side, it also partially depends on the number of students actually enrolling in IET, Lucknow. It has a huge role to play, nonetheless.

Here is the required cutoff (girls) in recent years, for all the courses followed in IET, Lucknow.

Course Structure Opening Rank Closing Rank
For a 4 - Year B.E. or B.Tech. Course
B.Tech in Chemical Engineering 2111 2428
B.Tech in Civil Engineering 1600 2434
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering 253 363
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering 912 1157
B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering 730 856
B.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering 1404 1717
B.Tech in Information Technology 380 438
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering 1602 2000

Having said that, there still might be a chance. Clearly, if you do not eventually secure admission in IT, you may still be able to get EI. Following a year after, you may opt to apply for a particular branch change, as per your requirements.

What are the chances of getting into IET Lucknow with an SC rank of 1290?

SS
Sarmi Srivastava Posted On : August 4th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

It is a bit confusing as to what your rank is. Is your general rank 1290 and you have an SC quota or do you have an SC category rank of 1290?

I will answer by taking both these scenarios into consideration so that there is no mismatch between your expectations and my answer.

  • If your general rank is 1290 and you have an SC quota then your chances of getting a branch at IET Lucknow is bright.
  • Again which branch you will get will depend on the branch you have filled in your choices.
  • But if your SC rank is 1290 then surely your general rank is much higher.
  • In that case, it will become difficult for you to get a seat at IET Lucknow.

Thus choose what is appropriate for you. Do proper research before finalizing a college, and this will shape your future ahead.

I got 352 marks in UPTU and I am from OBC category, can I get Lucknow IET?

Yes, you will get into IET but the branch that you get may or may not be any of the core branches such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, CS, IT, etc.

For the rest of the non-core branches, you can get into it. And hence the final scenario will be quite clear when the rank will be revealed.

Can I get an admission at IET Lucknow in the ECE branch at 2,400 rank (GNOP category)?

PP
Prateek Pathak Posted On : August 5th, 2021
B.Tech in civil Engg from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2017)

It's quite tough to get ECE in the general category with this rank as IET Lucknow is supposed to be the top college after HBTI has become an independent University. Having a few friends from IET Lucknow and read online reviews here are some tips for you.

I would suggest you apply for the Electronics and Instrumentation Branch as well. I also advise you to accept any branch offered in IET, as you'll get a branch change option in the second year if you'll be in the top 3 among your class peers.

Cutoff for B. Tech for the general category (2020) –

Branch Cut off Rank
Electronics and Communication Engineering 193-508
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering 582-1132

Since there are 3 rounds of counseling available, you should perform well and remain positive.

What is better, placement-wise, IET Lucknow CS or JSS Noida CS with a fee waiver seat?

VS
Virinda Sal Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied Computer Science at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2010)

JSS Noida will be a better option for you. The location factor is also very important. After completing course, you can easily get a job in any of the IT in Noida. The off-campus chances of getting placed are also high. You will also get good industrial exposure in the JSS Noida college. The college is very strict in attendance. The company has got a lot of placement opportunities. The labs and equipment of the college are also well equipped.

IET Lucknow being a government college is good for core branches only. The CS and IT branch of the college is not that good. If you are planning for GATE and other competitive exams. you might get ample time for that because there is no such attendance system.

RB
Riya Bajaj Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

Choosing between NIT and IET Lucknow will be a tough task. As both have their own qualities and reputation.

  • If you are hardworking and sincere enough with good academics then learning new skills will be easier for you.
  • You will gain the knowledge of working in industry through proper training offered by the colleges, be it NIT or IET.
  • If you want to choose between the colleges, consider some points.
  • These include Course fees, Facilities, Infrastructure, faculty, alumni network, placements, academics, etc.
  • But yes, if you are getting any decent NIT with a good branch then you should go for it.
  • If a particular branch is not your utmost priority, then you can go for the top NITs.
  • In case you are not getting any good NIT then go for IET Lucknow to pursue Electronics and Instrumentation.

This is a brief information I am able to provide. I hope it helps you in choosing the best college for yourself.
