Which of the following colleges and branches are better, IET Lucknow for CS or MSRIT for ECE? I will try for a branch change in MSRIT.

One of my friends is an alumnus of MSRIT and highly recommends it. You should opt for MSRIT because it is situated in Bangalore and will provide you a tremendous amount of opportunities. In addition to that, even if you slightly get scores lower than anticipated during the branch change, don’t be concerned as ECE is a popular branch as well and will undeniably permit you to sit for over 95% of top firms that visit the campus with CSE offers.

Here is the latest 2020 placement report of both institutes.

Institutes IET, Lucknow MSRIT (RIT) Bangalore
Total No. of Recruiters 100 358
Average Salary Package INR 5 LPA INR. 7.66 LPA
Highest Salary Package INR 36 LPA INR. 50 LPA
Top Recruiting Companies Unacademy, D E Shaw & Co, Barclays, Code Nation, Amazon, Yamaha, Go Speedy Go ABB, Pega Systems, Virtusa, Yodlee, JP Morgan, Microsoft GTS, Ernst & Young (IT)

You should however research well about IET Lucknow. But, since it is located in Uttar Pradesh, the opportunities will not be as broad as it is in MSRIT, Bangalore.

Which is better option in terms of placement and standard of life, civil branch of hbti or mech of IET lucknow, reply with factual data?

SN
Sakshi Nathu Posted On : August 5th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur (2021)

I have a friend studying at IET Lucknow from the Civil branch. I will not be able to tell you about HBTI but I can guide you in the case of IET.

  • The mechanical branch of IET is the best in the entire college in terms of studies.
  • The faculty of the mechanical department is the best and you would not regret pursuing B. Tech in mechanical engineering from IET Lucknow. The faculty teaches better than what the students are taught in coachings (as per mechanical students).
  • But as far as placement is considered, it is almost nil. The only companies that visit are from the IT sector. Even if a core company visits (rare chance), just a few students get placed. So, I would recommend you not to join IET if your parameters are good placements.
  • Considering the college tag, HBTI is a renowned college but IET is also not unfamiliar. IET is well known among IIT professors.

The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutions:

Particulars IET (Mechanical) HBTI (Civil)
Placement percent 30% 45%
Highest salary INR 11 LPA INR 9 LPA
Average salary INR 7 LPA INR 7 LPA
Top recruiters Tata, Hero, Naini Papers Hindalco cement, Ambuja cement, LnT

Being from IET is also not bad, though not comparable to being from Harcourt.

What is the difference between the college of UPSEE IET Lucknow and KNIT except location?

RS
Rishabh Singhal Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (2020)

My brother is an alumnus of IET Lucknow and was able to shed some light on the differences between IET Lucknow and KNIT.

  • IET Lucknow has a higher brand value than KNIT Sultanpur.
  • IET Lucknow provides a better environment and exposure because it is located in the heart of the city and is well-connected to the rest of the city.
  • In comparison to KNIT, you can find students with good grades at IET Lucknow. In comparison to KNIT, placements at IET Lucknow are significantly better. According to the recent placement statistics the median CTC offered at IET is around 4.5 LPA. While the average CTC offered at KNIT is 4 LPA.
  • In terms of academics and infrastructure also, IET is significantly superior.

If you are in KNIT, you would have to travel to Lucknow or Allahabad for any placement drives or tests, as most firms or companies will not travel to the college in a rural area for placement drives.

What should I choose between IIIT Bhopal, HBTU Kanpur, or IET Lucknow all in the CSE branch?

Having friends in these institutions, I am well aware that HBTU Kanpur is much better than IIIT Bhopal and IET Lucknow. Though one thing has been seen that the performance of the CSE department is generally the same in all the colleges. They all provide enough industry exposure to the students.

This table might help you in seeing the basic differences between these institutions -

IET Lucknow

IIIT Bhopal

Course Fee

Recruiting Companies

Oyo, Jio, Indiamart, Reliance, Flipkart, Microsoft, etc.

IBM, HCL, Careerwill, Global Logic, etc.

DRDO, Amazon, etc.

It is advised to join HBTU Kanpur or IET Lucknow than IIIT Bhopal, as the former are an older establishment than the latter which is comparatively new. Classes at IIIT Bhopal are scheduled according to MANIT Bhopal. Also the students are provided RGPV hostels. So it will be better if you go for HBTU.

Can I get CSE in IET Lucknow if my CRL rank is 1164 and my OBC category rank is 285 in the UPSEE exam?

AR
Ashutosh Rane Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
Studies CSE at IET Lucknow 2022

Given your rank, you have the slightest chance of securing a seat in IT eventually until it is the last round of counseling.

  • Following your admission, you can try acquiring a seat in CSE at IET, Lucknow via internal sliding.
  • In contrast, even if you still do not secure yourself a seat in CSE via internal sliding, you will still have a fair chance of getting your branch changed at the end of your first year.

Here is a detailed analysis of the cut off followed previously by IET Lucknow for the OBC category:

Courses Cut Off (OBC Category)
B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) 357 - 495
B.Tech in Information Technology (IT) 724 - 941
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (EE) 1545 - 1690

The only condition to this is that you have to belong in the top 5% of the branch. On the other hand, IT still is not a bad choice to go for.

With this rank, you might or might not get CSE in IET Lucknow, but you still have your options open regarding choosing from a pool of other branches.

Can I get an IET Lucknow fee waiver sheet after the 1st round of counselling?

YS

Well, it depends on many factors but most importantly on luck.

After 1st round of counseling, you have not been allotted a fee waiver. You are behind a lot of students but those are toppers who hold much better ranks than you. If they have the required rank they may get some better colleges maybe even some NITs.

If they leave or shift and you are just below them, then you can get the fee waiver seats after their vacancy. However, you need to have better rankings from your fellow compatriots as well. Otherwise, the next best candidate will be offered the seat.

What is the total expense A to Z of studying for a B.Tech in CSE from IET Lucknow?

AB
Anil Bhatia Posted On : August 7th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

IET Lucknow is a very popular engineering institute of our country. A lot of students across the country apply for admissions in the B.Tech courses offered in this college. One of my friends studied here, and I will be sharing the information I gathered from him.

  • To study B.Tech in this college you will have to pay around 3.44 lakhs for all the semesters and this is excluding the extra expenses.
  • This fee is based if you are not opting to live in IET hostels.
  • The extra expenses will vary among students.
  • This will include books, stationery and other daily necessities you will require everyday.
  • So, in total you will have to spend around 15,000 each semester to buy the necessary items.
Fee Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Total
Tuition Fee 7,000,019 70,000 70,000 70,000 7,210,019
Hostel Fee 14,500 14,500 14,500 14,500 58,000
Other Fee 19,775 14,775 14,775 14,775 64,100
Total 7,034, 294 99,275 99,275 99,275 7,332,119

This is the total fees you will have to spend to pursue B.Tech in CSE from IET Lucknow. This fee is pretty decent when compared to other private colleges where you will have to spend more than 10 lakhs in the total duration of 4 years.

Which college should I choose for ECE either IPU MAIT or IET Lucknow?

SS
Samita Saha Posted On : July 9th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (2020)

One of my friends is studying in ECE in IPU MAIT so I can tell you about this. Here is what he had to say about the branch.

  • If you are a beginner in a coding language then better make a habit of coding on a regular basis. The fact is at MAIT almost all companies visiting for placements are IT companies. If you are not good at coding by any then your chances of getting placed are pretty slim.
  • The academic atmosphere at MAIT is great. But the exam culture of IPU is not so good, because they are always going to test your mugging up ability and not your knowledge. So, this is a minor issue in MAIT.

Here is a comparison of the recent placement statistics for the institutes.

Institute

MAIT

IET Lucknow

Highest CTC

28 LPA

36 LPA

Average CTC

3.50 LPA

4 LPA

Major recruiters

Amazon, ZS Associates, HSBC

DE Shaw & Co, Unacademy, Code Nation

I will suggest that don't run behind colleges. Choose a college in which you are getting your desired branch and study hard and smartly.

What is the process through which I can get IET Lucknow through the JEE Mains rank?

AG
Anant Kumar Gupta Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
B.Tech from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2022)

IET Lucknow is an autonomous constituent college of the state technical university of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). So it has to follow the rules, regulations, and entrance exam which the AKTU prescribes.

AKTU conducts the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) to admit students in its various undergraduate courses in its various affiliated colleges. So currently you can take admission in IET Lucknow only through UPSEE and not through JEE (Mains) rank.
