IIM Sirmaur considers the Common Admission Process (CAP) for selecting students for the PI. This year the CAP cutoff has increased by 2 percentile from 92 percentile to 94 percentile. IIM Sirmaur has also revised its weightage for the final merit list preparation. The weightage for CAT score and PI score has decreased and the weightage of academic performance and work experience has increased. Some new components like Gender diversity and Trailblazer score have been introduced.

IIM Sirmaur considers CAT as an evaluation criteria for admitting students to its MBA program. The institute adopts a two-phase selection process. The first phase includes shortlisting the candidates based on the CAP cutoff criteria. The second phase consists of preparing the final merit list based on the composite score, which is calculated based on the CAT score, PI score, academic profile, work experience, gender diversity and trailblazer score.

Phase 1: Shortlist for PI based on CAP 2024

IIM Sirmaur considers CAP cutoff for shortlisting the candidates for the PI round. This year the general category candidates had to score a minimum of 94 percentile overall and 73 percentile sectional to get shortlisted. This cutoff increased for the 2024-26 session as last year, the CAP cutoff was 92 percentile overall and 70 percentile sectional.

IIM Sirmaur has a different cutoff for its MBA Tourism program. The candidates will have to score an overall 80 percentile in CAT 2023 and 70 percentile in sectional. The cutoff for MBA tourism has decreased from the previous year from overall 85 percentile to 80 percentile and the sectional cutoff has increased from 65 percentile to 70 percentile.

IIM Sirmaur has reserved 50 seats for female students to promote gender equality in the society. They also conduct a separate supernumerary admission interview process called SAP, to fill the seats reserved for the female candidates. Though the first preference will be given to the female candidates who have qualified CAP.

Female candidates who do not qualify through CAP can apply for SAP. The SAP cutoff is the same as last year, only the QA sectional cutoff for the ST and DAP categories has decreased from 32.5 percentile to 25 percentile.

The candidates who will be scoring above the minimum cutoff will be called for a personal interview round conducted by CAP. After the PI, the final merit list will be prepared based on the composite score of the candidate.

Phase 2: Preparing the Merit List

The merit list will be prepared based on parameters like CAT score, PI Score, Academic performance, Work experience, Gender diversity, and Trailblazer score.

This year, IIM Sirmaur has replaced the Academic diversity and Other diversity section and has introduced Gender diversity and Trailblazer score. The Gender diversity component would provide 5 points to the female/ transgender candidate. Trailblazer score also provides 5 points to those who have a minimum of 2 years of paid work experience in an NGO, as a medical doctor, entrepreneur OR those who have been a National/ International sports winner OR have a Bachelors in creative discipline (B.Des, B.Arch and B.Plan) OR have pursued Professional courses like Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accounting, and Company Secretaryship certifications.

Components Weightage
Scaled CAT Score 35
PI Score 20
Academic Performance 15
Work Experience 20
Gender Diversity 5
Trailblazer Score 5

IIM Sirmaur has also revised the weightage for all the components considered for preparing the final merit list. There has been a decrease in the CAT score and the PI score. The CAT score has decreased from 45 to 35 points and the PI score has decreased from 25 to 20 points. Similarly, there has been an increase in the Academic performance weightage from 10 to 15 points and Work Experience weightage from 10 to 20 points.

The academic performance is calculated based on the scores of the candidates in class 10th, 12th and Graduation. The points allotted to the candidates can be calculated through the following table:

10th Score 12th Score Graduation Score
<45 (ineligible) <45 (ineligible) <50 (ineligible)
If <75 = 0 If <75 = 0 If <60 = 0
75 - 85 = 1 75 - 85 = 1 60 - 70 = 3
>85 - 95 = 2 >85 - 95 = 2 >70 - 80 = 6
>95 = 3 >95 = 4 >80 - 90 = 7
>90 = 8

Similarly, for the work experience, the points are allotted based on the years of work experience a candidate has and it can be calculated through the following:

Months of Experience Points
12 - 17 months 10
>17 - 23 months 15
> 35 - 41 months 20
>35 - 41 months 15
>41 - 53 months 10
>53 months 0

Based on the above data, IIM Sirmaur will prepare its final list of selected candidates and will be announced on the official website and offer letters will be sent to the selected candidates.

According to the last year's RTI data. The composite score cutoff and the highest composite score for admission offer of MBA batch 2023-25 are as follows:

Category CS Cutoff  Highest CS
GEN 36.467 70.708
EWS 37.290 65.479
OBC 34.648 62.883
SC 28.140 59.687
ST 8.659 56.447
PWD NA NA

IIM Sirmaur has made many changes this year in its admission policy because of the increase in the competitive level. Also, IIM Sirmaur does not decide its own cutoff and rather considers the CAP cutoff, so they have made changes in the final merit list to choose the candidates according to their preferences.
