Admission:

I had good percentile in CAT around 96. I applied to MDI before the exam, so I clear the cut off which was around 94 percentile. For Admission there was Group discussion and personal interview was there. Basis my performance in GD and PI, and my CAT percentile, they started publishing the name in confirm or waiting list. First time I got waitlisted, but when second round list was released, I got Confirmed offer from College. I also got offers from other colleges like IMI Delhi, IIT Roorkhee,FORE school of management. So MDI being best offer for me, I choose it over other colleges.

Campus Life:

Gender ratio I will say boy vs girl is 70-30. Generally MDI has very open culture, Girls are allowed to visit boys hostel. So they can work together on assignment, common mess for boys and Girls. However boys are not allowed to go to girls hostel. Also, The student are usually from decent family background with 30% of them comes from affluent class. In general it's a good mix

Campus Life:

There are a lot of sports facilities available on the campus. All events are managed and created by students and that makes the events even more interesting and close to heart. One big auditorium provides ample scope for activities. The college has many clubs like finance, marketing, dance, sports, operation, quiz, development, etc.

Placement Experience:

We have opportunities to go either into the development sector or corporate sector. The placement cell of both the batches is very efficient around the corner. Special scholarship for students joining developmental organizations. The whole batch was placed on zero-day.

Exam Structure:

the structure of the exam was not hectic, we use to have one mid term and one end term exam for all the semesters. the question which were being asked in the exams were of practical approach, we use to learn from the question papers as well. as the faculties who prepare the the QP were experts in their fields and were having more than 20-25 years of experience in their respective areas, the in house faculties were all doctorates and were very efficient in their teaching,

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

there was a scholarship scheme for the meritorious students, it was 25% of the total tution fee for the period of one year, and the student have to maintain the % of marks for the same. most of the nationalized banks were available for the education loan facility, and there was a proper coordination in banks and the institute as well. some of the students were from the samaj kalyan where the fee of the students was paid by the government itself.

Remarks:

This college is beyond words. It offered me executive programme in management which was most needed for me in my mid-career of my life. High Value, High convenience etc are the best things about this college that I will highlight.

Faculty:

IIM's own faculties are way above standards but sometimes they bring external faculties which are way below your expectations most of the time.

Internships Opportunities:

Yes, for the name sake the college does provide internship. The college is unable to get good companies for internship 70% students choose internship from college. But no one gets any stipend. The companies just provide them the certificate 10% students does arrange a certificate from their contacts and submit it to the college, Hence no internship 19% students are being provided certificate from the professors. Because the visiting faculty have some sort of business. So what they do is that they take a 2 hr weekly class in college itself and provide a certificate for the training. This is shameful, but its true 1% students who have money can opt for foreign internship. But its quite expensive in 1.5 to 2 lacs range. But you do not learn any thing, Its just like a holiday trip for the rich brats.

Campus Life:

Campus life depends on what is you motive. if you want to enjoy, you can do it with everyone's permission. But if some one wants to make career, get ready for lots of hurdles. You can see professors smoking with students in the parking. That describes how the campus life can be. Gender ratio is quite low. In my batch there was less than 25% girls. Workshops are jokes. I even laugh at it after 2 years. They organize workshop in which students gather and clear the parking and other areas as their are Cigarette filters, Pan Masala pouches and Beer bottles lying and stinking in the area. Students are not of very diverse background. 50% are local students and rest are of nearby states with almost similar cultural background.

Ques. How is the IIM Ahmedabad executive MBA program different from the IIM Ahmedabad MBA program?

● Top Answer By Parth Reddy on 20 Oct 23

Ans. PGPX and PGPM are tailored for two different kinds of groups. Here are some differences and similarities between these two programs offered by IIM Ahmedabad- Profile- The PGPX crowd is quite diverse. Students of PGPX have a high work experience (an average of 7 years). PGPM students have an experience of around 2.5 to 3 years on an average. Duration- PGPX lasts for 1 year while PGPM lasts for 2. Faculty- The teaching staff is the same for both programs. Courses- A few PGPX courses can be taken by PGPM students, but not the other way around. Teaching method- PGPX is based on interaction while PGPM is instruction-based. Focus- The PGPX course is more focused in nature. This is because working professionals with such high experience know about their goals and ambitions. If you have more than 6 years of work experience, PGPX is a better choice. Otherwise, opt for PGPM.Read more

Ques. Is the IIM Udaipur PGPX Program (MBA+MS) from udaipur and Purdue in supply chain management worth the investment?

● Top Answer By Raja Yaduvanshi on 30 Jan 23

Ans. A Supply Chain Management course offered by IIM Udaipur has recently gained popularity among professionals interested in the field. It is a fantastic course that provides students with a variety of benefits. One of the key features that drew students to this course was its 15-month program. Time is regarded as a valuable asset, and the program's shorter duration means students will experience less opportunity loss. Furthermore, the course offers a dual degree, allowing students to obtain an MBA and an MS degree from two of India's and the United States' top universities. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is rarely available in other courses. The faculty is also an important aspect of the course. Purdue University and IIM Udaipur are both well-known for having some of the best mentors and faculty members in the field. The education that students will receive is expected to be of exceptional quality. The course may not be as strong in terms of placement as programs offered by NITIE or IIM A, B, and C, but this also depends on the student profile. Despite this, student placement opportunities are still considered adequate. Furthermore, during their one semester in the United States, students will have the opportunity to network with professionals from both India and the United States, which may lead to overseas job opportunities for students who are interested in working abroad. The investment in a college like this, which costs around 30 lakhs, will take time to pay off, but this course is highly recommended for professionals who want to change fields or have low earning potential in their current job/profile.Read more

Ques. What is the value for part time PGDM in NMIMS Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Yasmeen S on 28 Feb 23

Ans. Most part-time courses carry no real value other than adding the post-graduate tag. They have no worth in the corporate world irrespective of whichever reputed college you have chosen. NMIMS is one of the top reputed B Schools in India and has a big brand name.  The faculty is extremely talented and experienced The placement scenario is pretty good except that part-time courses have no fixed statistics. The fees are relatively high when compared to other B Schools of the same league The curriculum is very rigorous and requires constant attendance and involvement. Being a part-time PGDM, you are probably a working professional and it becomes very difficult to balance work with studies.  The curriculum required you to submit assignments and give frequent exams. This might be difficult for working people. Unfortunately there is quite a level of distinction between full-time PGDM students and part-time PGDM students as the former get the most attention from teachers. The curriculum is rushed in order to get completed within 21 months imparting no real learning  I know a friend who chose NMIMS Executive MBA and paid hefty fees just for the brand name instead of doing the same course at a less popular B School. She regretted her decision and claimed the program to be a total waste of money and time. She said she could have done the same from another B School at half the cost. So part-time MBA itself is not that worthless, but paying a hefty sum merely for the brand name and postgraduate tag is illogical. You can do the same program at a much lesser cost than other B Schools.Read more

Ques. How good is the IIM Ahmedabad PGPX 1-year full-time program?

● Top Answer By Devansh Pathak on 22 Dec 22

Ans. If your current package is less than 15 LPA, pursuing PGPX 1-year full-time program at IIM Ahmedabad is good. You should look at international colleges if your current package exceeds 15 LPA. You should always do your MBA and find a job outside of India. India is simply the world's back office. It is different if you want to be an IAS officer, but Indian corporate is slavery and junk. Working here for an extended period of time will undoubtedly turn you into a lunatic. One week of college life is enough to demonstrate the quality of American education. The tasks are out of this world. Americans are among the world's smartest and most innovative people. As a last resort, continue your education in India. Even if you have more than 5 years of work experience, IIM A/ISB will only hire you in one of India's back offices.Read more

Ques. How is the PGDM executive (fulltime) course of IMT Ghaziabad? How are the placements? How is it compared to IIM Shillong and SPJAIN PGPM?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Luthra on 16 Feb 23

Ans. An executive course is a one-year MBA degree for working professionals, whereas a full-time PGDM is for two regular years, like all other MBA degrees. The executive course at IMT Ghaziabad is quite good. They have concise and to-the-point courses and complete almost the whole two-year program in one year. Placements for executive students may not be as many, as most of them are already working, but they do help in placements for other students. If you choose to pursue a correspondence course, it does not matter as much where you pursue it. IIM Shillong, being an IIM, has its own prestige. But when compared to all B-schools Rankings, IMT Ghaziabad is definitely higher up the charts than IIM Shillong or SPJAIN PGDM. If given the option, it would be better to choose IMT Ghaziabad or IIM Shillong over SPJAIN PGDM. If you are looking for a campus experience, Ghaziabad would be a better personal preference.Read more

Ques. Which should I choose: MBA (2 year PGP) from IIM Ahmedabad or MS in computer science from a decent (top 10 & not top 3) US university with funding? What should I consider when choosing?

● Top Answer By Mathivathan Vhallatharasu on 13 Dec 22

Ans. A friend of mine faced a similar dilemma when he was torn between choosing IIM Ahmedabad (MBA) and Stanford (MS). He went for IIM Ahmedabad in the end. He considered the following factors before making this decision: Geographical factors: If you want to stay in India then MBA from IIM Ahmedabad is the best choice. But if you are certain you want to settle abroad, MS from Stanford is a good choice. Nature of career: Comparing the nature of both the courses, we find that MBA is a general one while MS is specific. MBA is related to business and management while MS is technical. Based on your interests and aspirations one can easily make a choice between the two. If you are still unable to decide then know that you can pursue MBA in the US even after MS. The latter will offer you more opportunities. Read more

XLRI has one of the best faculty bases in the country. You will get to be a part of the XL mafia, i.e. the extensive network of XL alums. They are recruited in top positions of many reputed MNCs. There are also a significant number of successful entrepreneurs. Such a vast alumni network definitely has its own advantages. Since 5-year work experience is the least requirement, you will have peers from Marine Logistics to NGOs. As the curriculum is case-based, you will have the opportunity to discuss many cases with your peers from different backgrounds.  You will get to experience the overall XL culture. There are ample opportunities to interact with the students from BM/HR programs. These are one of the top MBA programs in the country.  Besides all this, Jamshedpur is a great place away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
