Dr. Sthitipragyan Biswal has completed her Ph.D. in Management, Department of commerce and Management and has 11 years of teaching and research experience in the area of Finance. She has submitted the thesis title, “Existence of Herding Behaviour in the Indian Stock Market: A Special reference to NSE” at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha. Her research and teaching interests are Behavioural finance, Security-Analysis and Portfolio Management, Financial Derivative, Financial Market and services and Financial conclusion. Her research works have been published in different UGC care listed journals. She has presented around 15 research paper in different National and International conference.One of her research paper titled, “Banking innovation: A case study on State Bank of India” is adjudged as best paper at National Conclave, KIIT University. She believes that the academic finance profession has the potential to be uniquely purposeful due to four characteristics—the freedom to take risks and work on what we’re passionate about, the loyalty to our profession rather than just our institution, the collaborative nature of the creation and dissemination of knowledge, and the magnitude of our potential impact. However, what the profession currently values, and its current social norms, are significant barriers to the fulfilment of this potential. She is very a passionate professor and very supportive.

My roles and responsibilities towards the students are very important in guaranteeing the general achievement and advancement of the students and the department. I'm energetic about showing students and investigating moving focuses and progressions. What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

First of all, our institute is not a University. It is a B-School under BPUT. So we have to follow the rules and regulations of BPUT. Apart from that, we have limited financial resources, which can restrict us from investing in updated teaching materials, technology, infrastructure, and faculty development programmes. Keeping the curriculum up-to-date with the latest knowledge and industry trends can be challenging, especially in rapidly evolving fields.


What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

Nowadays students are getting good placements in Financial field. Investment Banking, Risk Management, Equity Analysis, Wealth Management, PMS, working for Venture Capitalists, PE and Hedge Funds, Big Broking Houses, Depository Services, Banks, NBFCs and other financial intermediaries, Business Consultancy, Core Finance jobs, more and more opportunities in Mutual Funds as analysts and customer procurement and servicing are good career path. Fin-Tech startups are also hiring the freshers.


What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths and how can it be enhanced?

The college has strong leadership abilities, organized by a team of highly knowledgeable academicians, an administrative team, and an admissions team. Most of our teachers have doctorate degrees and have professional as well as teaching experience. Our biggest assets are our students who select Astha for their future, who are the strength and pillar of the institute. Nurturing the students from basics to advance in the right direction is the mission of the college.


What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I might want to encourage students to find their energy and strength, put forth clear objectives for the future, and don't lose all sense of direction in sheep strolling. Be versatile and tough, and construct an organization and connections in social profile. They ought to take accreditations, foster delicate abilities, and be refreshed about current industry patterns. Nothing can stop the energy of the adolescent, they are the eventual fate of the country.
