What factors make this program the best for the students to opt for?

The civil engineering branch is an evergreen branch where the students will just connect with society, giving their services in terms of shelter, design, and construction of buildings and enhancing better living environment by way of smart infrastructure. Both national and regional developments are directly and indirectly connected with civil engineering task and projects. Hence it becomes a subject of interest to both engineering students and common citizens. A significant point to mention here is that any countries development is thought proportional to its infrastructural development apart from development in the industrial sector. As such, there remain a host of opportunities for the engineering graduates in government sector. More and more opportunities are also likely to arise on the global scale particularly in countries which are on fast track of development.

Therefore this stream inculcates in students a global outlook.

What are the best practices in the program you are doing?

The best practice in the college that we are offering to our students is a passion of connecting themselves with the live and real time projects. Occasionally we also engage our students in remarkable industrial visits, and at construction sites. Another practice worth mentioning here is that we always put up efforts to have a good rapport with our alumni students so as to keep pace with the awareness and latest know how as regards actual projects running in the world. This way, we also become well versed with advanced software’s linked to civil engineering industry.

How do you tend to build industry connections with the program?

As I mentioned earlier, we consolidate our efforts to build better relations first of all with our alumni and then through them with the industry personnel.in this regard, we invite guest lecture from the industry side so that it might create remarkable impact on the minds of the students and this will give rise to an initial interface with the industry. Another channel of interface is the establishment of MOU with industry , we have substantial number of MOU’s to our credit. We have left no stone unturned as far as providing the shorterm courses are concerned. This also goes in accordance with the university directives, that directive of orienting the students learning programs with the add on programs. Moreover, we also endure to arrange workshops in this category.

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

Tight schedules given in accordance with university curriculum seem to be a kind of hurdle in order to incorporate such innovative programs. But truly speaking such beyond the curriculum programs complement the learning QUEST and boost up the knowledge of the student out of the box. This is a major challenge but we consider it as a good opportunity. Most of the time we reschedule the academic structure and use the vacation time also for such course.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on in this program?

Our students just go with the real-time projects like sustainable development, particularly eco-friendly projects wherein waste products in our vicinity may be made to use by remodelling and even design related project like modelling in ETABS , Rivet Architectures, Traffic , UTP Models , Water supply, Advance Surveying Etc.

What do you think of your roles and responsibilities as a HOD?

My role as a HOD is to see the students complete their B.Tech with the requisite focus and enthusiasm. More importantly I Try to make them fully aware as to want the industry is seeking in fresh engineering graduates. Here at this juncture entry level technical and employability is more important to be implemented so as to make them industry ready that’s why at the outset we try to inculcate in them the spirit of discipline and rejection for absenteeism. Corporate recruitment training is made essential for them this training includes all the entry level skills like technical skills aptitude test GDs interview skills debating skills apart from soft skills.
