Mr. K. Jaya Rama Krishna is the Head of the Department of BS and H at West Godavari Institute of Science and Engineering. With 27 years of experience, he holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. from Government Degree College Razole and Andhra University. Moreover, he has an M.Phil. degree from Alagappa University. Besides his present work experience, he has worked at BHSR Degree College as a Mathematics lecturer for 23 years.

You have held key positions at educational institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the educational centre?

I am staying connected in the education sector due to several factors, like ongoing professional development and the ability to have active networking with colleagues. We also get to experience engagement in education through communities, keeping abreast of pedological advancement and maintaining open communication with students, parents and educational institutions. Overall, committing to lifelong learning encourages me to stay connected with the education sector.

Being the HOD of West Godavari institute of science and engineering what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

As the HOD my leadership philosophy centers on fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. I believe in empowering team members, encouraging open communication and promoting a culture of continuous learning centres. My leadership style emphasises mentorship, shared decision making and a commitment to the growth and success of both individuals and the department as a whole. I aim to create a supportive atmosphere that inspires creativity and excellence in scientific pursuits.

The education system in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying in your institute? 

Inbound students can benefit from a quality education. We foster a global perspective by encouraging collaboration in cultural exchange. We will work to strengthen and establish strategic partnerships with industry leaders to enhance internship opportunities and secure collaborative projects. Moreover, we will enhance support services for students, including career counselling, mental health resources and academic assistance, while also investing in infrastructure and facilities, including laboratories, libraries, and technology resources. At the same time, we will integrate sustainable practices into campus operations and curriculum and implement mechanisms for the continuous evolution and improvement of academic programs teaching methodologies.
