West Godavari Institute of Science and Engineering

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Accreditation is the trend for institutions (NAAC, NBA, ATONOMUS, etc.). Higher education now largely incorporates outcome-based instruction. On the other hand, educators and learners should be focused on outcome-based learning. Faculty and students are key stakeholders in the education system; therefore this helps to improve the system as a whole. Accreditations, outcome-based education, and educational technology all have a lot of room for improvement. These are the main reasons I stay involved in the field of education.

Being the Principal of West Godavari Institute of Science and Engineering, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

The goal of leadership is to reach the desired heights and then inspire colleagues to do the same. Every person ought to be inspired to work towards capacity building, in my opinion. Comprehending people is another essential component of leadership. Individuals will perform better if you understand their issues and provide them with all the support they need. A broad perspective on life is necessary for this.

Being the Principal of the Institute, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

While there are still structural differences between the educational systems in India and other foreign nations, these differences are narrowing over time. We are gradually moving closer to the educational systems of other countries with the introduction of the National Educational Policy-2020 (NEP-2020). Our goal is to deliver education that is acceptable throughout the world, hence we employ cutting-edge teaching techniques and educational technologies. Learner-centric components of the curriculum include core courses and opportunities for self-learning through MOOCs, minor degrees, full semester internships, and community service projects, among others. Students will benefit from these features as they pursue their academic and career goals. In addition, the National Assessment Accreditation Council has accredited the Institute (NAAC).

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

Although the expense of higher education is rising daily, most graduates do not receive salaries that are commensurate with their education. Millions of rupees are being spent by parents on higher education, yet the results are not what they want. The majority of students who were placed in different companies are having a lot of delays with their onboarding. People lose interest in and will contribute less to higher education if this situation persists. This, in my opinion, is the largest obstacle facing the higher education industry.

How does the curriculum of West Godavari Institute of Sciences and Engineering ensure the best practice of the industry?

The campus is welcoming and offers equal opportunity, rights protection, and full participation in both academic and extracurricular activities to students from a variety of backgrounds. The goodwill of our college has been boosted by the graduated students' positive reciprocation has increased.

Any insights into how your Institute could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

Our college makes dedicated efforts to be welcoming to students from all backgrounds. We have established the best learning facilities and infrastructure for the benefit of our students. Additionally, we have modern and well-established labs and also have the best hostel facility at minimal costs.

What would you like people to know about your Institute that they may not know?

The organization upholds outcome-based education (OBE) tenets by encouraging a learner-centered approach. Every student is given individualised attention during study. The institute helps both skilled and slow learners develop their skills through a methodical approach. Through the internal training division, Technical Hub, students receive training on a variety of technologies in addition to their usual academic studies. This gives the students a competitive edge and helps them become industry-ready. Students also participate in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), which instill the principles of service to the country and to humanity. The institute prioritises extracurricular activities through a variety of technical and leisure clubs, and it also encourages good sportsmanship. The institute's overall goal is for a student to develop fully.
