TNEA Counselling Process
The counselling has four rounds namely 1) choice filling 2) allotment 3) confirmation of allotment 4) reporting to college.
What is Accept and Upwards in TNEA?
Accept and Upward meaning aiming for a seat in a higher-ranked college when you are satisfied with the allotted seat but wish to wait for higher order.
Let’s get a clear idea about the process. During seat allotment six confirmation options are shown to the candidates. They are:
- Accept and Join: When candidates are satisfied with the allotted seats.
- Accept and Upward: When candidates are satisfied with the assigned seats but wish to wait for a higher order.
- Decline and Upward: It means candidates are unsatisfied with the allotted seats. And wish to wait for a higher order.
- Decline and move to the next round: candidates are unsatisfied with the seat allotment and want to move to the next round.
- Decline and Quit: When candidates are not satisfied with the seat allotment and do not wish to participate in further rounds.
- Upward and move to the next round: When candidates are not allotted seats and have to wait for upward movement for the seat allotment. If no seat is allotted during upward movement, candidates can move to the next round.

TNEA Rank List 2024
TNEA Rank list was released on July 10, 2024. To prepare the list, the authority used a normalisation method.
The selection process through Rank List includes the steps below:
Step 1: For the selection, candidate’s score out of 200 in the PCM combination will be taken into consideration.
Step 2: The marks obtained by the students in the PCM combination from different boards will be equated with the obtaining marks in the same subjects from the Tamilnadu State board using normalisation.

TNEA 2024 Eligibility
Nativity
- You must have studied in Tamil Nadu from class VIII to class XII.
- You must be a Tamil Nadu native if you have completed your class VIII to class XII in some other region/ outside Tamil Nadu. You need to submit an original nativity certificate in electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate.
- If your parents are central government employees in Tamil Nadu from the last five years then you are eligible for TNEA.
- If your parents are All India Service Tamil Nadu Cadre Officers, you are eligible and need self-declaration from the parent.
Srilankan Tamil Refugee
If you belong to a Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee who has studied in Tamil Nadu, then you are also eligible for TNEA However you need to produce the following certificate:
- Certificate of Identity from Head Quarters Tahsildar.
- Original Passport, Visa and letter registered with the police station are needed for candidates who have not registered in the refugee camp.

194.25 is the final cutoff score for 7.5 quota candidates enrolled in the B.Tech Biotechnology programme through TNEA. For the same programme, the first cutoff score is 199.
