What is CMAT?
Common Management Admission Test is a business aptitude test conducted for admission to MBA/PGDM courses. Earlier it used to be conducted by AICTE but since 2019 the National Testing Agency has been conducting this exam. CMAT is the third most popular MBA entrance exam in India after CAT and XAT. Every year about 75,000 candidates appear for the CMAT exam. CMAT score is accepted by approx 1,300 B-schools (government and private) in India including Great Lakes Institute of Management, SIMSREE, JBIMS, Welingkar Mumbai, PUMBA and K J Somaiya Mumbai.
CMAT Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline. Candidates appearing for the final year of their Bachelor’s Degree, whose results will be declared before the commencement of the admission process, can also apply for CMAT 2025.
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- There is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT 2025.
CMAT 2025 Exam Registration
The application process is simple and involves 5 prominent steps. To apply for the exam, you first need to visit exams.nta.ac.in or cmat.ntaonline.in. Then click on the ‘New Registration’ option and enter the details asked to generate your unique login credentials.
Now, you must log in using your application number and password to begin filling out the form. The details asked in the application form include:
- personal information
- academic information including work experience and graduation and class 10 & 12 qualifying exam details.
- exam city preferences- any 4 in order of priority from the list of 110+ options.
Thereafter, you are required to upload scanned images of the photo and signature in the correct format and dimension. Both images should be in .jpg/ .jpeg format and the file size should be between 10-200 kb for the photograph and 4-30 kb for signature.
Saving these details and moving on to the next step, you are required to pay the registration fees through any online mode of payment which could either be a Credit card, a Debit card, Net banking, or UPI. After payment confirmation, you must download the application form confirmation page for all future correspondence.

CMAT vs CAT
CMAT full form is the Common Management Admission Test which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) whereas the CAT Exam or Common Admission Test is conducted by IIMs (Indian Institute of Management). Listed below is the comparison between both exams
- Popularity: Total CAT registrations are 3 times more than that of CMAT registrations. Last year alone over 3.3 Lakhs appeared for CAT, for the same year, CMAT registrations were 70,000.
- Difficulty: Owing to its popularity, the CAT is more difficult than the CMAT. CMAT Exam difficulty level is Easy to Moderate whereas the CAT difficulty level is Moderate to Hard.
- Validity: CMAT Scores are valid for more than 1000 B-Schools across India except for IIMs. CAT Scores are valid for IIMs as well as other B-Schools.
- Exam Pattern: CAT Paper consists of 3 Sections with a total of 66 marks each whereas CMAT consists of 5 sections with a total of 100 marks.
CMAT 2025 Admit Card
NTA will release the CMAT 2025 admit card tentatively around May 2025. You can download your admit card through the official website, chat.ntaonline.in. by using your application number and DOB. Then you need to click on the Download Admit Card option.
CMAT 2025 Answer Key
The CMAT answer key will be released by the NTA after the completion of the exam. The answer key will be in the form of a response sheet and will be available on the official website. You can download the answer key using your login credentials. After login, you have to click on the 'Answer Key' link reflecting on the dashboard and download the answer key.
You can challenge the answer key when the objection window is open. To do so you need to fill out an online form and furnish supporting documents to substantiate their claim. CMAT answer key will be revised if any objection is found to be valid. The final answer key will be prepared based on the objections received.

CMAT 2025 Result
CMAT results will be released by NTA tentatively in June 2025. You can download the result by logging in to the CMAT official website: https://cmat.nta.nic.in/. Click on the 'CMAT-2025 scorecard' tab and enter your login credentials. After clicking on the ‘Submit’ option you can download your scorecard. The scorecard will be available on the official website for a limited time. The CMAT 2025 result cum scorecard will contain candidate's information and their exam scores and percentile.

CMAT 2025 Cut off
CMAT cut-off 2024 is the minimum percentile score required for admission to MBA/ PGDM colleges. CMAT results are released by NTA. Cut-off will be determined by each score accepting college for its MBA courses. Most colleges release CMAT cut-offs in the form of percentile. CMAT cut-off percentile is a relative measure of your scores in comparison to all those who appeared for the test. CMAT 99 percentile indicates that your score in CMAT 2024 is more than 99% of the test takers.
CMAT 2025 Admission Process
The minimum cut-off score set by the participating institutes determines admission to the MBA through the CMAT. NTA does not conduct the admission process as the B-Schools conduct Group Discussions and Personal Interviews for CMAT-qualified candidates. You need to fill out the admission form for your preferred institution at the specified time. Based on your performance in GD and PI you will be selected for MBA/PGDM courses.

Ans: Yes, you can edit your application form and correct all the mistakes if any. NTA will open a correction window for 2-3 days which you must utilise. Otherwise, you will not be able to edit the form once the date is over.

Ans: You can appear for the exam as many times as you like, as there are no such restrictions on the number of attempts. There is also no age limit, so you can appear for the exam at any age.
