About NITRD

National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, formerly known as LRS TB Hospital, is a government institute established in 1952. The institute was formed by the TB Association of India and was converted into an autonomous institute by the Indian Government in 1991. NITRD is recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Government of India.

NITRD has been registered as a society by the Societies Registration Act of 1860.
NITRD offers DNB courses in two specialisations namely thoracic surgery and respiratory disease.
The college offers Postdoctoral fellowships in Microbiology.
Admission to DNB courses is based on the merit scores from the entrance exams such as NEET-PG and NEET-SS.
The college has various departments such as Bio-Chemistry, Epidemiology and Public Health, Internal Medicine, Microbiology, Molecular Medicine, Radiology, Respiratory Critical care, TB And Respiratory Diseases, Thoracic Surgery, Surgical Anatomy, and many more.

NITRD Course and Fees 2024

NITRD offers admission to doctorate and post-doctoral programmes. Admission to the DNB course is based on the score obtained in NEET PG and NEET SS. The duration of the DNB course is 3 Years. Admission to Post-Doctoral Fellowship is based on a merit-based score and lasts six months.

NITRD Admission 2024

Admission to the NITRD is purely based on the scores obtained from the entrance exams such as NEET-PG and NEET-SS. For admission to NITRD, students have to meet the eligibility criteria of completing the MBBS degree from a recognized institution. The students then apply for the entrance exams such as NEET-SS and NEET-PG, and the final selection is based on the merit score of the students from the medical entrance exams.

How to Apply for NITRD Admission 2024?

To apply for admission in the DNB and Post Doctoral Fellowship programme, a student needs to follow the following steps:

Visit the official website the MCC to register for the NEET PG Counselling session.
Next click on the registration link to register yourself.
Use your NEET PG Roll no and captcha code to login.
Fill in the personal and educational details.
Next, move to upload your educational documents in the format specified in the guidelines.
Upload your signature and photograph in the specified format.
Next pay the registration fee to participate in the counselling process.
Now students are asked to select their required course and college from the list.
Lastly lock your choices and submit your application form.

NITRD Facilities

NITRD offers all basic amenities such as accommodation, transport, medical facilities, a fully functional sleep lab, and separate clinics for smoking cessation and allergies.

Some of the other facilities on the NITRD campus are:

Hostel: The institute provides separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus.
Yoga Centre: The yoga centre was established in collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga for all its students, staff and patients.
General Store: NITRD provides a general store facility for its students on campus premises.
Medical Store: Within the campus premises, students and others are offered medical stores to purchase medicine according to their requirements.
Library: NITRD provides a huge centralised air conditioner library. The library has all books and journals on Tuberculosis and Respiratory diseases.

Ques. Does NITRD provide accommodation facilities to students?

Ans. Students are provided accommodation facilities separately for both boys and girls inside the campus.

Ques. What is the application fee for admission to the NITRD?

Ans. The prospectus and application form cost for the General & OBC Category is INR 1000, and for SC/ST Category is INR 500.

Ques. Is the application fee refundable at the NITRD?

Ans. No, the application fee is non-refundable, and the applicant has to take full responsibility for sending the application form in postal transit and other necessary documents.

Ques. What is the attendance percentage to be maintained by students in a post-doctoral fellowship at the NITRD?

Ans. Students should have a minimum of 90% presence in the lectures and labs. Students have to maintain a separate performance record book.

Ques. Who sponsors the salary/stipend for post-doctoral fellowship students in the NITRD?

Ans. The college doesn’t provide a stipend for the post-doctoral fellowship. Instead, the parent department provides the necessary stipend to the fellowship students.

Ques. When should students confirm the allocated admission seat in the NITRD?

Ans. Students have to confirm their allocated seat within 15 days of the result, along with the necessary documents required for admission.

Ques. Does the NITRD have sleep labs for patients?

Ans. Sleep lab is for patients who have difficulty sleeping and breathing issues. Patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) will likely be observed in sleep labs.
