The process was great overall. There was a XAT exam which was followed by a rigorous process of personal interviews coupled with various other steps to be taken. Any UG (Last year) or completed is can apply. No reservations. Forms can be found on the official page of XLRI
Good Aspects: Faculty, Peers, Course Curriculum, Brand new state of the art infrastructure. Bad Aspects: Recently established so it is relatively unknown to many people and companies. Admission Process: Primary shortlist happens through a XAT entrance test that takes place in January, followed by a GD and PI round that happens in March. Why this college over others: Even though it has been recently established, the brand name of XLRI and the fact that we at XLRI Delhi have the same curriculum and faculty as XLRI Jamshedpur in addition to being part of the same culture made me choose this college over others. Any blog or forum: Not exactly, there were just multiple sites that I browsed through to get basic details and understanding.
We are the first batch of the college so there was a sense of fear in everyone, but post SIP's, we know we are in good hands and the batch would do good in upcoming years. The admission process is the same as Jamshedpur, first XAT then GD/PI post which a common merit list is released and students have an option to join either JSR or Delhi. The brand and alum network of XLRI is just amazing much closer than any IIM.
It brought the opportunity to continue the glorious legacy of XLRI in a new chapter that is the Delhi NCR Campus. The same pedagogy and placements as the Jamshedpur campus, and the firsts of many in the new campus; is a great fulfilling experience. The Delhi campus has all the facilities and the famous alumni network and the excellent faculty are there to guide and nurture it.
XLRI is among one of the oldest brand names in India, decided to open a new campus with the same curriculum & professors, combined placements, combined SIPs. The admission process for both the campuses is the same, i.e. XAT exam, GD, and then interview. Considering the Jhajjar campus is near to the capital region, so it would be an attraction to many of the companies coming for placements. Upon considering the above factors, I gave preference to XLRI, Jhajjar.
XLRI is said to be the oldest and one of the most prestigious B-schools in India and indeed it is so. Right from the academic rigour to a plethora of opportunities in all aspects, the college gives every individual multiple opportunity to grow and develop. Thanks to the supportive seniors and professors, a highly conducive environment for academic and non-academic growth is created which helps a person immensely in his/ her career. The admission process entailed the XAT entrance test followed by a personality form and an asynchronous interview. After this was the Group Discussion and the PI rounds. I used blogs like Quora, inside IIM while selecting the college.
Excellent faculty, top quality infra, placements in top firms across the country, good peer learning. You have to take XAT and score a good percentile, generally over 90. This is the oldest school in the nation with the biggest alumni network.
XLRI's brand value was the primary reason for choosing it. Moreover, the common placement- both finals and summers-was a cherry on the top. This, being in the vicinity of the capital along with the brand of xlri, will be in the top 6 colleges in a few years' time. This would make it ahead of MDI which was my other choice. The culture of XLRI always impressed me even before joining it as my friends, seniors are its alumni. Heard great things about the curriculum, faculty, the 3 batch culture, alumni association. The admission process for both the campuses of XLRI is common, that is through XAT-Xavier Aptitude Test and the cutoff was common for both the colleges. I consulted with my mentors at Career Launcher and at TIME along with many XLRI seniors before zeroing in on this choice. Detailed discussions with them along with my own research helped a lot in arriving at the decision.
For XLRI, you need to take the XAT. The cut off is usually 95+ for the BM course. XLRI Is one of the institutes that change its admission process every year. In my year post, the cut-offs we had an asynchronous video interview round. Here we had to answer some basic behavioural questions in under a minute. Post this we were given a set of questions which we had to fill and answer, once again the questions were interview generic. After this is when the GDPI & WAT happened. For me, XLRI was a dream come true. It had everything that an MBA aspirant wants from a B school. Strong alumni connect, a great placement history, a well known student culture, etc.
XLRI being the oldest brand under the management fraternity in India boasts the largest & most varied alumni base commonly known as 'XL Mafia' and has recently completed 71 years of its continued accomplishments and dominance in producing some of the finest MBA graduates across the country. XLRI has continued its position as the best institute for Human Resource Management graduates across Asia and trust across various global corporates. The alumni base has immense love and belongingness to the XLRI brand due to their continuous engagement and shows immense guidance and support to the students of XLRI. All this has moved me and motivated me to join XLRI and the support and guidance of one of the alumnus made my path easier to join XLRI successfully. The admission process includes XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) which constitutes 4 sections(Decision making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, General Knowledge) to test the overall qualities of an applicant.
