Likes

The teaching staffs are excellent as they are very good at their work
The non teaching staffs are also friendly and good

Dislikes

Attendance strictness is there as minimum attendance is 75%
There is sudden announce of exam dates and staffs remains absent many times

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel provided for girls are either 3seater or 2 seater rooms.. there are 3 floors for girls to stay starting from 2nd to 4th . The 1st floor is occupied by the male staffs of the hostel who cook food . In the 2nd floor warden madams room is also there . There is a lift in the hostel. Washrooms are medium cleaned. The masi of the hostel who is supposed to clean the rooms doesn't come daily she only comes in a month once or twice depending upon her mood. Their is a student body in the hostel group . Down there is a common room mainly used by students to study as the room is more of a storage room with dirt and dusts as the cleaning masi doesn't do her work. The food provied are so and so. They will not provide u food more than once. Insects like vegetable worms do come out of cooked vegetables . There is a water filter in the ground floor near the mess where one can fill their bottles . No parents or gurdian are allowed in the rooms!.. the terrace remains closed.

Almost no fests or events are organised, this focusing only on academics
Activity clubs are there only for namesake, no activities are conducted

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel forms are given by the college after admission. The girls hostel is near the college and distance is not much. However the facilities of the hostel are very poor. Basic hygiene is not maintained, rooms are not cleaned by hostel staff, washrooms are dirty, and the food quality is pathetic. Food is served only 2 times per day and that too food is not nutritious.

Likes

The college has a very strict discipline, with 75 percent attendance. There is no any scope for indiscipline.
The faculty is very helpful and qualified and teach very well. They help you in any way possible and are even ready to clear your doubts

Dislikes

The placement cell could have been more active. The placement cell is decent, the package offered is also decent
The course completion time is too small. Considering the huge syllabus of University of Calcutta

Hostel Facilities:

There are 3 hostels-wann,Duff and Ogilivie-for boys and one hostel-Lady Dundas-for girls, which is huge. Single rooms are provided in boys hostels,with provisions for double sharing or 4 sharing also. Girls hostels have double or triple sharing rooms. The food is okayish,but fresh. Vegetables are bought every morning and cooked. Bathroom is also cleaned every morning, with ample water supply. The room is decent,but they don't provide light, fan or bedding.they charge 47253 for boys annually, to be paid in 2 installments, 27k and 20k and around 55k for girls annually. Usually a separate form is released for hostel admission just after new admissions, which needs to be filled up and pay the first installment of 26007,to avail hostel. Also the area where the college is located,also has a variety of PGs which usually charge around 2.5 to 4k for bedding charges. Food is also not a problem as the college canteen food is pretty good and there are lots of restaurants and home deliveries around

Likes

The discipline of this college is really breathtaking. They urge the students to attend classes in a disciplined manner
The professors are very helpful and resourceful and do not hesitate in helping their students in time of the student's need

Dislikes

They don't encourage the students enough in terms of sports and other activities.
The college is very strict with attendance. If you miss out college for one or two days, your attendance goes down a lot.

Hostel Facilities:

There are 3 hostels for the students. 2 for boys and 1 for girls. The boys have their own single room in both the hostels, where as the girls have to be in sharing rooms. Meal is provided 2 times a day in boys hostel and 4 times in girls hostel. The registration process is usually based on the distance of student's home from the college and on that basis the hostels are given to them. They are affordable as well as they take fees every 5 months on 2 installments.

Likes

Scottish Church College comes under one of the top colleges of Calcutta University. It is a very prestigious institution with age-old heritage and great infrastructure. Our college has one the most beautiful campus in Kolkata.
There are regular seminars and lectures from guest lecturers and professors from various colleges which enhances our skills and knowledge.

Dislikes

There are some minor things which can be improved. The organisation and management of different activities of the college can be done in a better way. In terms of placements, there should be more opportunities for the students.
Also the college should provide better internship programs for it's students .

Hostel Facilities:

The college provides Hostel facility to it's outstation students. We have 2 boys hostel and one girls hostel currently. The admission process is online through application form which comes on college website during the time of admission.I have been living in the girls hostel for 2.5 years now. I had a great experiene. The annual fee for the hostel is between 50k -55k. The hostels have double and triple seater rooms for the students. We are provided with a shelf, a study table-chair and a bed. The girls hostel has lift facilities also. We have common washrooms on every floor as well as water purifiers. There is a common mess on the ground floor and we are provided with two meals in a day. The food is hygienic and the quality is good. We also have a common room to study and other activities. We organise various cultural events in the hostel throughout the year. Ragging is absolutely prohibited in the college and hostels.

Though I have not availed hostel rooms. I have been there for some time. Frankly speaking the hostels are not up to the mark(boys hostel). They are not well maintained. The rooms are just so so and yes there is no sharing. One room for one student. Hostel seats are few and everyone cannot avail it because it's a rule that only those are allowed to stay there whose home is more than a 3 hours journey from College.
