MIRANDA HOUSE

3.7Helpful

Faculty:

There are around 12-14 female teachers for a class of 42( 2 sections of 84 students). Student teacher relationship is very good and the teachers are strict , understanding and very helpful, so it is a right combination of what an ideal teacher should be like. They know the concepts that they are teaching very well and all of them ( with 1-2 exception) are very excellent in teaching. The best faculty at my time has already retired but there are other teachers like Mamta mam , sujata mam, anshika mam who are also good at teaching. I didn't like a faculty that taught electrochemistry (can't mention the name) because she didn't teach good at all , all she used to do is write on the board so we didn't even understand a bit about it. There is 1 exam in a semester at the end which is of 100 marks and the classtests are also there. It is very easy to clear the exams based on PYQs.

Yeah I can say genuinely the faculty and the students raito is not small it's huge where the lecturer can not connect with everyone as the class is having of 60 students I really didn't like it because the interaction becomes less due to huge class strength. I liked RAVINDRA JHA and ALKA BHUDIRAJ mams because I like the way they teach I can say I like ravindra mam more she talks very sweetly and she teaches well she thought me microeconomics which is completed in online but I used to talk to her whenever I see in the corridors of the Miranda house. Yeah the lecturer that I didn't like is sutapa mam and the sridhar sir I feel sutapa mam is so agressive which is not good for the lecturer to have and I feel personally sreedhar sir is not good explaining and I didn't like the way the both teach . They conduct internals for 25 marks and the paper will easy if we study anyhow I am student who don't study much so I used to get less marks but I can say they are not biased while correcting.

In Miranda you will get the best faculty for B.el.ed course so no need to worry about it. B.el.ed is 4 year integrated course in which you study about primary and elementary teaching. Exam held in annual mode so you will get the enough time to explore.

The faculty is really amazing and well experienced. They are very friendly and helpful you a lot in exploring new opportunities not even just in India but also worldwide. Every week they conduct meetings to have social interaction with students and have leisure time together. In studies also they are very considerate.

Faculty:

Professors were very informative, most of them had completed their phd and had done several research projects and even now they are continuing their research in college and are inspiring students to do the same, soem Professors are pursuing their phd now .Teachers are very approachable ,even our college had a mentorship program under which they used help us in even our personal matters apart from studies. In almost evey class we used to have 2 teachers , increasing interactions.

Miranda House

4.5Helpful

Faculty:

The BA English faculty is excellent. While quite a few of our best professors have retired, MH holds its legacy and even our ad hoc professors were better than most du colleges. we had the oxford style tutorials but with 5:1 ratio. Otherwise all the professors are just a mail away and are always willing to help. A personal anecdote- my department professors helped me through one of the toughest times of my life. I still remember the day when each professor told me to not give up and to keep on fighting. Help of every kind is around every corner of MH, you just have to take the first step and ask for it.

Miranda House

3.4Helpful

Faculty:

The Chemistry Department of Miranda House has some highly qualified and respected professors and researchers in their fields. So, I had high hopes for the teaching environment and willingness to help students and guide them. I wasn't wholly disappointed but also not fully satisfied. While some professors were quite helpful, taught subjects in a way youll never forget, there were others who were rude, did not care for the students in the slightest and were quite unhelpful. So it was a 50/50 experience for me. We do have summer projects at the college, those were a fruitful experience always. We got to learn a lot more than classroom learning. While my project mentors were great, others complained about a lack of guidance, a lack of presence of mentora during projects.

Faculty:

One of the best things about Miranda would be, it's faculty. Treating teaching not as a profession but as a passion, the teachers here tend to take up the job of being a mentor very seriously. The relationship between faculty and students is mostly healthy as they do not happen to be prone to favoritism and hardly judge any student based on small things.

Miranda House

Faculty:

The faculty teaching political science is not at par with my expectation but faculty teaching geography and history is much better. Teachers at political science do not give their best and sometimes some of the teachers are nice but they're really busy with their own work.

Faculty:

I studied in the Zoology Department, so I can share about the Zoology faculty specially. All the faculty members in our department are extremely qualified, educated and great researchers. One of our faculty member was herself a student from Miranda House only, who pursued her PhD from Miranda only and now got appointed as Assistant Professor in the same college. So, this shows that all the faculty members are extremely qualified and talented in every way. They are very approachable and understanding. They always taught with new methods and techniques. Practicals used to be the best taught by the teachers.
