Miranda House, Delhi University: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 17 Reviews

Admission for foreign students at Delhi University requires submitting an application and result certificate to the Foreign DU office. The process starts in mid-June with the first cutoff release. Admission is merit-based, considering marks in subjects like physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Miranda College, known for its high NIRF ranking in physics, features a highly educated faculty with a supportive Mentor Mentee program guiding students in their academic and career pursuits.

The course and exam structure is well-organized and engaging, particularly the practical aspects. The college's fee structure is affordable due to its government status, with annual fees ranging from 12,000 to 18,000 INR, payable once a year without extra examination charges. Financial aid and scholarships are available to low-income students, ensuring financial transparency in fee collection. Placement opportunities have improved with a dedicated placement cell. Eligible students can start placements in the 3rd year, with notable recruiters such as Wipro, Microsoft, and Tech Mahindra.

The highest package reached 20 lakh, while the average ranged from 5 to 7.5 lakh. Although COVID-19 reduced placements to about 138 from 1600 the previous year, students often opt for further studies, affecting numbers. Financial assistance of 7,000 INR is provided in the second year, with a modest annual fee increase. The exam fee is 1,500 INR per semester with additional charges for practical papers. Hostel fees are lower than private options, with merit-based placements available. Scholarships like the Veena Nayyar Memorial Scholarship support students with low family income.

Tuition fee is very affordable, compared to many other DU colleges it is very less. The college is one of the best colleges in the whole country ofcourse the NIRF #1. The exam fee comes around 1500 ruppees each sem. The practical papers are charged 200 each. There is a Veena Nayyar memorial scholarship which will cover the entire tuition fee for students whose family's annual income is below the specified range. Many other scholarships are offered by the university too. I haven't really taken up any job roles as of now.
