IHM provides enough industrial exposure since students undertake industrial training for an entire semester.
Yes, every student has the opportunity to work with hotel brands such as Taj, Oberoi, The Leela Palace, The Park, JW Marriott, Novotel, and many more.

Dislikes

There was no scholarship scheme, as it is a government college; the fee to be paid is very low.
I dont know about my study center because we havent had any classes there so far

IHM Kolkata is one of the top colleges to pursue Hotel Management. The Campus is equipped with modern kitchens, well furnished labs, fully operational training labs. The Faculties are highly knowledgeable and industry trained.
Campus life at IHM Kolkata was very vibrant and dynamic. The college provides various social interaction opportunities. We used to have sports day, freshers party and farewell parties, an important IHM tradition is Gourmet Night.

Dislikes

I loved my college and the experience that it gave me, every faculty who helped to make me industry ready and the very supportive seniors who where their to guide me every step of the way.

Placement Experience:

The campus selection starts from 05th sem onwards. Lots of companies visit some are:- Taj, Oberios, Leela, HHI, ITC, Dominoes, Pizza Hut, CCD, Starbucks, Fairmont etc. I dont remeber the highest package amount but it was around 30k. 95% students got placement and for those who had difficulty getting placed the faculties would help them find internship or job through their reference. I completed my degree back in 2013 and got placement through the college and started working.

The infrastructure and development is amazing.
Faculty is top notch, they take extra care of any student is lagging behind or need extra help.

Dislikes

The interview process for a job, if you are in the favourite student group you are good to go, if not you are not.
The kitchen can be a little bit clean. The helpers can be better in communication.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is appropriate, crisp and to the point. But one thing is that the books you will read and when you go for the industrial training, you will find that the things written in the books are not true. Like a hotel or a restaurant do not run the way shown or written on books.

The faculty is serious about academics ,they teach with full potential and extract the best out of students , not sugar coating. The campus is strictly under discipline. There is academic pressure and opportunities to become better in all departments
The crowd is something I have remained dissatisfied with . But there are few gems be it senior or your own batchmates ,you'll find your people . Rather than that that campus life is top notch with gourmet events and culturals and various clubs and ac

The crowd is not very accepting or indulgent . But there are people who you can learn from . Find them
Placement is taken very seriously here . More than 50 companies line up for recruitment. Even though the package is not high as per the course fees but in this sector they provide the best .

Placement Experience:

1. Some students get offer letters during second year if they show excellence in guest service . 2. 5th to 6th semester 3. Big hote groups like IHCL , THE OBEROIS ,ITC , HYATT REGENCY,JW MARRIOT ,NOVOTEL,THE PARK all big players of the field come for placement talk and placement here Big retailers like RARE RABBIT,MAC DONALDS , KFC,DOMINOS and other big retails companies recruit for management trainee and operational trainee Almost 80 percent students get placed . Highest average package has went upto 6 lpa during training period by some retail companies . I plan on to join hotel as a chef and then opt for masters abroad if possible

I like all the faculty of the college because they are very experienced.
I like the infrastructure of the college.

I didn't like the campus because it is very small comparing to others
I disliked the college building which is very old

Placement Experience:

From the 5th semester the various companies came for the campus placement such as ITC, MARRIOTT, TAJ, OBEROI, STARBUCKS etc. The average package is 3-4 lac ler annum. The percentage is almost every student gets placed in the campus interview.

Lots of facility of showcasing your extracurricular activites in many social activities.
Lots of good books for boosting your knowledge and a internship programme to gain experience in industry.

Dislikes

The food served during lunch in cafeteria.
There is no advantage for scoring good marksin terms exams in campus placement other than teaching.

Placement Experience:

There are wonderful options for avail placement in both hotels and retails and food retails as well. Lots of companies will come to take interviews but once you get selected for any property you can't sit for the next properties. You can also place a walk-in application for retail aviation or cruises as per your choice.

I liked the strictness of the college, it helps to build the students to great aspect.
I liked the campus which was simple yet modern, with smart boards and motion sensing projectors that helped studying more efficient.

Dislikes

Rules are too strict, even you are not allowed to give exam how important it is if you are 2 mins late to college after the gate closes.
Too much of co- curricular activities, there was like 2-3 events every month and students were chosen for that.

Placement Experience:

Our college promises 100% placement, and to be honest it keeps its promise! Students become eligible for placement from the 4th Semester itself. Many companies came such as all popular 5-star hotels such as Taj, ITC, Park, Leela, Westin, etc. accompanied by numerous retails such as Domino's, Reliance, Aditya Birla, Starbucks, Biryani By Kilo, etc. My plan is to pursue higher education as said earlier.

The Timing of the institute is very huge.
The timings of each period is very large.

Our college's placement is very great. Almost 90 percent of the students of our college get a job after completing the course. Some of the students of our college do masters also after completing the 3 years course.

The placements are not so good to be honest even though you will get lots of options like in hotel, retails and QSR Fields. The package will be from 2 lakhs to -4 lakhs per annum. Some brands are like taj Oberoi star bucks reliance Aditya Birla CCD Leela Palace etc

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because this is the only entrance exam that I have cleared. Faculty: student ratio is well every subject has more than 3 or 4 teachers. All teachers have their master's degrees and their teaching style is very friendly. Each semester of 6 months after 3 months there is a midterm exam and after 6 months/ each semester there is end term exam. It is not difficult to pass because all the questions were asked from the syllabus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It is not too difficult, but one needs to prepare for the exam thoroughly. A three-month preparation will be enough. There are maths, general intelligence, English subjects in the NCHMCT exam. I choose the course because it's a career-related course, a professional course. There are enough faculty in the college. They are well qualified and experienced. Exams were taken semesters basis.
