Symbiosis Institute of Technology, a part of Symbiosis International University, was established in 2008. It is recognized by the UGC and graded ‘A++’ by NAAC. SIT Pune is also accredited by the NBA and the AICTE. According to SIT Pune Ranking, Outlook ranked it 11th out of 160 engineering colleges in India in 2024.

SIT Pune offers BTech as its flagship course. To be eligible for SIT Pune admission, candidates must score a minimum of 45% marks (40% in the case of reserved categories) in 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, etc. The final selection will be based on the scores of SITEEE, JEE Main, or any state Government engineering entrance exam. SIT Pune - An Overview.

Good male to female ratio in classrooms.

College management is sleeping most times, we don't come to know about what all facilities we have access to
We are not informed about any events happening, have to find out from student council

Placement scenario in campus and highest package being offered

College lies about placement, they say highest in my branch was 24 LPA in 2023, but it's actually OFF CAMPUS WHERE COLLEGE DOESN'T PLAY ANY ROLE. on campus highest was 11 LPA . Employability of my course is increasing , given the newly established semiconductor industry of India. Students get eligibility for placement from 6-7 semester, I am not sure. But internships start from 6th semester. My plans after degree is army, I'll give CDS and get commissioned as an officer in the army.

Internship opportunities provided by the college

I don't know much about this But we do get offers (probably scam offers only) from these third party pyramid scheme internships. College itself barely pushes any internships but fortunately we have good teachers who have made personal WhatsApp groups and forward internship opportunities there.

College events and sports facilities available in the campus

Overall experience of campus life is 3/5. As i said before, they don't tell us about events being held, management is jerking off , eating pan and sleeping. Only 3/6 clubs are actually active and do work daily , mainly coding club, photography club and formula student club (of which I'm a part) Infra is up to the mark. We have 2 events mainly in a year, one per semester. In odd semester, we have symbitech. Bullshit event, absolutely useless. In even semester, we have ...I'm forgetting its name because ours was cancelled last semester due to bullshit reasons Sports facilities are top notch, i am an athlete myself so I can say this. No clubs have any impact or crossover in student life.

What is the total fees of the course?

Year wise we pay Rs.3 lakh , spread over 2 semesters. Rs.3 lakh includes all fees including sports facilities, registration was Rs.1200 rupees for admission. This is for general category. There is no upfront management seat but there are back doors, they ask for Rs.2-4 lakhs depending on what your rank is and what branch you want.

Students view on course curriculum

Nothing in specific, I just chose E&TC because I have interest in electrical stuff. I will join the army after college so degree doesn't matter for me. The curriculum is updated regularly, teachers make sure of that. No suggestions for updating on my end , I feel it's enough. Exams are all held frequently and we have something or the other every month. Shit ton of submitting though.

Facilities provided in the college hostel

Hostels are really good, hot water 24/7, big enough rooms, good building Infra with lift being allowed for our use (we have 4 floors on hostels). Hostel Wi-Fi is SHIT and we don't get signal on our phones inside hostel I don't know why. Water tanks get cleaned weekly. Adequate lighting. Mess is ok only, food isn't tasty but it is healthy food and it gets your stomach full. Imo hostel is really good for its price, only Rs.1 lakh for all they give, is really nice. But we only get hostel for first year , they don't have enough rooms for more than first years. It would be 5 stars if we go hostel in other 3 years and network issue wasn't this bad.

What are students views about their faculties?

1:4 teacher to student ratio. Teachers are all really nice and approachable but there are cases of teachers teaching subjects they have no experience or expertise in just because he is the son of a person in the board of directors. Some teachers are really bad and outright fail us because they don't like us. I got a back in one subject because one teacher didn't like me and marked me absent intentionally, so i didn't pass the attendance criteria for that subject so I got a back in that subject. There are 5 subjects, 2 exams each, one in mid SEM, one in end sem. They're easy only, teachers set them to be easy so students don't fail (they tell us this). Students don't usually fail, teachers make sure of that.

College competence and admission process

I chose this college because I have lived in Pune before and it's better than other private colleges. Better how 1. The fees. 2. The facilities provided. Other colleges don't come close. 3. The hostels are also better equipped, water tanks get cleaned weekly, although there is the issue of no network inside hostel and the Wi-Fi they give is HORRIBLE. I didn't go to other colleges because 1. Merit. 2. Bad cities like ghaziabad. 3. Worse packages. Admission was fairly simple here, you'll get an email if you got in, open the link there, finalise your admission, pay the fees and it's done. I got admission in SRM ghaziabad , CS , but ghaziabad is a bad city, all full of gundas and such. Seat in CS in JECRC jaipur, didn't go there because SIT gives better packages. Got 3 more colleges like VIT (electrical), and some local colleges but they were not in main college branch. Got rejected from AIT for low jee mains rank. That's the only college I didn't get in Admission in my college is simple, either by jee mains score , mhcet score or through SITEEE (sit's own exam). For all three, 85%ile and above are electrical, CS, aiml, and RnA. Students prefer jee, but I feel mhcet was much easier. Overall experience, 6/10 (not 8 because the admission incharge is an asshole)

Night Life

Night life was shit when I was in hostel, it's improving now. Now they have hostel in time at 11 pm on weekends (we have 5 work days) , and 10 pm on weekdays. They turn off all campus lights at 9 pm though so we can barely see anything gym is ok, it gets the work done, library closes at 6 pm but all sports facilities open till 9 pm. Famous hangout spot Is Lupin, outside of College.

Scholarship provided by the college.

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune believes in providing students with quality education without any hindrance or obstacles. The institute has put in place a very efficient scholarship program which helps meritorious and deserving students have better access to their education even if they are facing financial difficulty and are unable to fully pay the prescribed tuition fee. Scholarship Guidelines and Eligibility

As per revised policy semester topper will be awarded a scholarship based on academic excellence, and a minimum GPA of 8.5.
Only those students will be eligible for the award of Merit Scholarship who have cleared the courses prescribed for the respective program i.e. they should not have any backlog.
The student who has been awarded merit scholarship by the University shall not be debarred from stipend or any financial assistance from any other source. However, if the student is awarded any stipend or financial assistance from any other source, he/she shall communicate the same through the Institute to the office of Student Affairs, SIU.
There will be no income limit of the parents/guardians of the students for the grant of merit scholarship.
In case a student is eligible for more than one scholarship/freeship by the University, he/she shall be awarded only one scholarship/freeship as per his/her preference.
If two or more than two students have the same GPA/CGPA score, then the weighted average of academic score of 10th and 12th shall be considered for breaking the tie for a scholarship for the semester 1.

Life at symbiosis institute of technology

Admission:

SIT , pune being situated in the one of core IT hub cities of India , along with limited and cream crowd made me choose it. Other colleges I made into had a large number of seats which makes the college crowdy unlike mine. SIT has its own SITEEE , which is an entrance exam based on board pattern questions, it also offers admission via state entrance examinations , JEE scores , only the students who cleared the exam and make it in the merit list get into the college

SIT Pune - An Overview.

Likes

Good male to female ratio in classrooms.
Better facilities than other private colleges so that's good.
Big campus, great , fun events and huge diversity in students

Dislikes

College management is sleeping most times, we don't come to know about what all facilities we have access to
College is really far from city, need to have personal vehicle
We are not informed about any events happening, have to find out from student council

Symbiosis throughout the year in kind of exciting, they organise lots of programs to keep students bodies as well as students engaged one way or the other
Girl to boy ratio is i would say 40:60. 40%girls and 60% boys
First of all i really like the campus, it is really what a student imagines his/her college would look like. They do very well maintaining the environment of the college

Admission:

I chose this one over the others because symbiosis is pretty famous plus i liked how it was inside the city of pune but still outside the city. To get an admiss Here , you just have to clear the sit entrance test that's it

Vibrant campus life with some or the other event happening every week
diversity as there are people from different states and different countries as well

Dislikes

the college is situate on the outskirts of pune city so it will take you almost 20 minutes to enter the city
there are ac's in all the labs and seminar halls but not in classrooms

Admission:

Apart from SIT, i got offer letter from VIT and KIIT however all the other colleges are quiet crowded and I felt that the curriculum here was better than them. To get admission in SIT you should either write SITEEE, JEE MAINS or the state government enterance exam. The cutoff changes every year however forJEE MAINS, the cut off for CS this year was above 90 percentile. If SIT is one of your target i suggest you should write SITEEE as the maximum seat is alloted throught SITEEE score

applied for army intstitue of technology and got confirmed for symbiosis because of jee mains.this college is famous for its brand name across the world. this college selected me over my senior secondary school marks. can apply via entrance exam or via state exams. cutoff should across the required standard set by the university.

Security is very tight and there is not any issue regarding it

Some of the classrooms are very suffocating
Classrooms are not filled with AC and fans does not provide much air

I had applied for NMIMS mumbai. But i got admission in SIT before it so i preferred joining SIT rather than NMIMS. The exam was not so tough and i had met all the eligibility documents and formats. The fees is much high in NMIMS rather than SIT

There are numerous technical and non-technical clubs via which if a student is attentive and productive might land up on an early internships and many other kinds of lucrative opportunities. There are also events such as debates, hackathons and fests
The college also has a strict policy against ragging and harassment. Therefore, such cases are almost non-existent. The campus provides a safe environment for new students. Students can approach the campus administrator, warden or faculty if needed.

Admission:

I also applied to SRM Institute of Technology, VIT( Vellore Institute of Technology). I chose SIT over my other options because of the teacher to student ratio and also because of the location of this college which is in Pune therefore it provides a large number of opportunities since many industries and software companies are based in the same city. The placement rates and average package is also better the many of the colleges of the same tier.

My first year experience in Symbiosis institute of technology.

Likes

Since the campus is so huge there are endless things to do besides academics as it is a ll provided within the campus
Inside of the symbiosis international university campus the total surface area is huge ample amount of space
As for academics the classrooms are quite big and comfortable, the staff is quite helping in nature and the lecturers are thorough

Dislikes

The college is on a little bit of the relaxed side they arent as strict and there are alot of workarounds in things that shouldnt be worked around on.
The building is quite confusing to walk around in at times as you font understand where what is.

Admission:

I had applied to MIT-WPU as well as SIT and got into both colleges but i preffered SIT as the field i got here was better in oppurtinity and i believe it holds more value over MIT as of now due to symbiosis still having a low acceptance rate in comparison to MIT. To get into SIT get more than 45% in boards, you nay give 3 exams that they accept which is CET (93 percentile cutoff), SITEEE (exam given by college aim to score more than 80/120), JEE (85 percentile cutoff).

You must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry /Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subjects. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST category) in the above subjects taken together and Good Scores in any one of the following entrance exams: SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SIT EEE) or JEE (Main) or Any State Government Engineering Entrance Examination.

No, SIT is not the only examination which you need to clear for taking admission to Symbiosis. There are other examinations as well for admission such as EEE and JEE Mains.
