Institute of Engineering and Management - [IEM], Kolkata

Heritage Institute of Technology is better than IEM. It offers a better learning experience. HIT campus is among the best campuses among the technological institutes in the country. The classrooms and departmental labs are well-equipped with the latest instruments. Sports facilities are good. 

According to Heritage Institute of Technology placement highlights, students receive an average CTC of around INR 5-6 LPA. Infosys, TCS, Microsoft, etc. are among the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive. 

Jadavpur University is definitely better than IEM. It is ahead In terms of placement, academics, and research. In the 2021 NIRF Rankings, JU ranked 17th for B.Tech. It has outranked a few of the IITs. Whereas, IEM is ranked 191 for B.Tech by NIRF 2021. 

In the 2021 placement drive, the placement average for IEM was around 75%. For JU, the placement rate was 100% while the average CTC offered was 19 LPA. 

If you have a specific branch in mind you can go for IEM. Otherwise, choosing JU will be better. The preference of choice should be like the following. 

JU (CSE/ECE/ME/EE/Chemical/IEE)> IEM CSE> JU (Civil/Production)> All branches of IEM> Rest of the branches of JU. 

IEM and UEM are under the same group of management, which is IEM group. Here are some of the differences between the two institutes. 

• IEM follows the syllabus of MAKAUT. UEM follows its own syllabus as it is autonomous. However, around 80% of the syllabus is similar to MAKAUT. 
• IEM takes admission through WEJEE and the required cutoff is high. Getting admission at UEM is comparably easier. It takes admission through IEMJEE. 
• Comparably, IEM has a better placement record. IEM Kolkata average package is INR 4 LPA. 

As a student of UEM, if you want to do an MS or pursue higher studies abroad, you will get a recommendation letter from IEM.

VIT:

• VIT is a renowned private university in India, known for its academic excellence and campus facilities.
• The campus is located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, and offers a range of courses across various disciplines, including engineering, management, and law.

• VIT has an excellent track record in terms of placements, with top companies visiting the campus every year for recruitment.
• However, the one drawback of VIT is its fees, which can be quite high for some students.

IEM:

• IEM is a well-known private engineering college in Kolkata, West Bengal.
• The college offers a range of courses in engineering, management, and computer applications.
• IEM provides scholarships in the form of tuition fee waivers to meritorious students who come from economically weaker sections of society.
• The campus has good infrastructure, including labs, libraries, and sports facilities.
• IEM has a decent placement record, with many students getting placed in top companies every year.

While VIT is an excellent choice for students who can afford the fees. If you cannot afford VIT, there are other good options to consider, such as Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata (HITK), Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL), and IEM Kolkata (IEMK). These colleges have decent infrastructure and placement records and offer courses across various disciplines.
