- The faculty of education has most experienced professors who gave invaluable information.
- I liked that there are facilities like career counselling and therapists available free of cost to the students.
Dislikes
- Most events were at the Burnaby Campus which is pretty inaccessible, so i missed most of them.
- Most job opportunities were also at Burnaby, so I had to travel 3 hours each day.
- Most events were focused on career advancement, which is doing more studies and not actual recruitment.

- Highly ranked in Computer Vision. Home of Professor Richard Zhang.
- Diversity, Ranked Number 1 in cs rankings for Computer Vision. Inclusion of co-op which helps with connecting industrial skills and theory skills. Has Career Fairs which allows to network with professionals over the world
Dislikes
- The schedule gets stressful at times. You take a class at 8:30 and the next class is at 4 which doesn’t help if commuting. It’s situated on the mountain so at times the buses stop working if there is snow
Overview
My experience at SFU was really good. I met some life long friends and learnt a lot about machine learning and deep learning. SFU also helped me connecting with various people with varied experience and learn a lot.

- Mandatory Co-Op, Good Data Science Curriculum, 1+ year of program.
- I like the Overall Curriculum at SFU since this program teaches industry relevant subjects. Also, Co-Op Opportunities as a part of mandatory Co-Op term is what makes this program one of the best in Canada
Dislikes
- The only part I don’t like about Simon Fraser University is that we have to pay full Fees for Co-Op Term as well which should be avoided. Either it should be removed or amount should be reduced. Additionally, I think students must be motivated to pursue careers in same fields they have studied like Data Science, Visual Computing and not deviate
Overview
Overall pretty satisfactory experience. Gained a lot of knowledge about Data Field, got my job due to subjects taught.

- Cheaper than USA and easy visa route than USA. So, this was my option.
- Not all the courses are practical and some delve into too much theory. Since it is a professional course without a thesis option, I thought this was one downside. Professors may not be the best always."

Overview
The university is overall impressive and good. The program has 3 fields to dive into - Big Data, Visual Computing and CyBig data is my field and I believe this program is solid for it.

- I love the teaching methodology followed and the fact that it is the only university that provides this unique program in a face-to-face setting! The professors are really knowledgeable and helpful too.
- It was the only university across the globe that offered this program and that too in a face to face setting.
Dislikes
- My university has three campuses with the one in Burnaby being the biggest and oldest. My classes are held at Surrey Campus, so I chose to stay close to it, however, I find that most of the events take place at Burnaby only.
Overview
It's been different from how we learn in India, there are research papers to read and that's where you absorb all your learning from. You may take a week or two to get used to it, but it's quite helpful. Just make sure you read smart or it'll take up a lot of your time. It's one of the best universities! Staff is ever helpful and looking forward to give you the support and nudge required at any point of time.
Likes
- Being able to access the course material through canva online and being able to submit assignments online
Dislikes
- Having to attend in person for tedious things like handing in specific assignments. Because of my long commute this was not ideal for me
Overview
I wanted to stay in the lower mainland. Enrollment included a fee, questions to be answered in paragraph form about why I want to be a student at SFU, as well as grades entered from grade 10-12. I prepared myself online. I did not enjoy my experience overall, the campus was very cold, dark, not inviting. The students were extremely competitive as it was a pre med school major so making friends was very difficult. The faculty treated everyone like a number aside from their favorites, the courses were very difficult and detail orientated.
Overview
Simon Fraser is one of the CEPH accrediation certified course. As a dentist I have prepared for the statistics course seperately and I scored A + grade in that. And for the english proficiency test, I wrote IELTS exam and secured 7.5/9. Afterthat, I converted my score with the wes canada for the evaluation and I secured 3.86 gpa. For getting the admission, we need strong Sop, LOR, Wes score, Statistics course and relevant experience in the population health.
Scholarship
As I mentioned earlier, I received the entry scholarship amount of 2000 CAD and I think they are giving this to all the MPH students. Simon Fraser University is having a big list of scholarships and they are kept on posting this on the websites. People who are qualified for the scholarship can easily apply for that through the SFU portal
Overview
For it's highly intensive CS research program and community-centered campus.
Scholarship
I received the Graduate Research fellowship of 6500 CAD
Overview
I wanted to go to a university in Canada as I believe that there are more opportunities for students, especially international students, to succeed in Canada. I chose SFU because they have a really great business program focused on the concentrations I wanted to pursue. It is a very well-known university in Canada and is still affordable! While it might not be known internationally, in the networking events or interviews that I have been to here, many employers have great things to say about the university. Additionally, I received a scholarship which was probably the deal breaker that made me choose SFU over any other university!
Scholarship
Yes! In my first year, I received the India International Entrance Award. This award was based on academic merit for international students and thus, I did not have to apply for it. It was for $11,000.
Overview
It was close to my home and I didn't want to be in debt by the time college ended. I didn't feel I was ready to move out and be on my own. My school also has one of the top Health Sciences programs in the country.
