Dislikes
- The schedule gets stressful at times. You take a class at 8:30 and the next class is at 4 which doesn’t help if commuting. It’s situated on the mountain so at times the buses stop working if there is snow
Required Exams for Admission
My experience at SFU was really good. I met some life long friends and learnt a lot about machine learning and deep learning. SFU also helped me connecting with various people with varied experience and learn a lot.
Course Curriculum
Very good curriculum. Goes through recent innovations in Computer Vision and also has an industrial component when it comes to coop.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio was 42:1. But it depends on the subject taken. Some may be 20:1. Ali has to be the best professor I had. You can approach every prof in their office hour and also ask TAs for help.
Campus Life
As a commuter school, it lacks extracurricular activities. However, you can attend clubs and meet different people.
Placement
Need to apply externally. There are career fairs but those are only for networking. For coop, almost everyone gets placed.
Accommodation
Sharing with other SFU student. Average rent is around 700 for sharing a room.
Exams
IELTS 8.5. Requirements are IELTS 6 with Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening with min 6. Submitted SOP and LOR. Had generic points about why I chose the university, and why I wanted to pursue the particular program.
Fees
53000 CAD.
