I wanted to stay in the lower mainland. Enrollment included a fee, questions to be answered in paragraph form about why I want to be a student at SFU, as well as grades entered from grade 10-12. I prepared myself online. I did not enjoy my experience overall, the campus was very cold, dark, not inviting. The students were extremely competitive as it was a pre med school major so making friends was very difficult. The faculty treated everyone like a number aside from their favorites, the courses were very difficult and detail orientated.

Course Curriculum

Kwantlen Polytechnic University in the Faculty of Science, I didn't opt for this due to its reputation. SFU was known to be more prestigious. Each class was between 2-4 credits, usually if the class was twice a week it would be a 4 credit class. It didn't add value to my academics because I didn't enjoy the program I completed. It caused me a great deal of stress which impacted me very severely. There was way more students than faculty at SFU. The average class size was around 400 with one professor and 1-3 teaching assistants.

Campus Life

The library was great, it had lots of space to study as well as many books available. Other than that I didn't partake in any campus life because of my commute I didn't spend much time on campus. It is difficult for me to comment on these matters.

Placement

Average pay after graduating was $17/hour, I was able to get a raise to $19/hour at which point I was wondering why I completed my degree. If I didn't complete my degree I could have been earning more at the time of my graduation.

Accommodation

I lived at home and did a 2 hour commute there and 2 hour commute back because I had no money. If I were to stay on campus, I would need at least another ,$12,000 per semester to cover my costs which I did not have.

Fees

~$45,000 in total around $3,000 per semester plus $1000 in textbooks, I clicker etc. Payment was online. It wasn't affordable at all, coming straight out of high school I didn't have anywhere close to that money. I was able to get a loan.
