- This is a full-time, two-year program merging theory, leadership, and research with generalist and specialized fields of practice.
- Their curriculum is comprised of coursework and two separate year-long field placement components with social work agencies which allow students to actualize what they are learning in the classroom, providing holistic, integrated experiences.
- A total of 95 units of coursework in the department is required.
- Students must select an area of concentration spring quarter of their first year: social and economic justice, health and mental health across the life span, or child and family well-being.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) in all upper-division courses.
- Completion of one course in elementary statistics with a grade of B or better.
- Completion of a total of four (4) courses in the Socio-Behavioral Sciences (including one (1) course with Human Development content), and a minimum of three (3) courses in the Humanities, as a prerequisite undergraduate preparation for graduate study in the field of social work. (e.g., anthropology, economics, ethnic studies, education, gerontology, political science, public health, psychology, social ecology, social welfare, sociology, women’s studies).
- Submission of GRE (GRE: General is strongly recommended for those with a junior/senior GPA below 3.3) is compulsory for this program and it is recommended to submit the scores from tests taken within the last 5 years for a better chance of admission.

- College Transcripts - The marks statement provided by the education board after completion of the previous academic qualifications.

- Statement of Purpose - The statement of purpose accompanying the application should why you seek an MSW at UCLA at this time and describe the following: Experiences that shaped your understanding of social welfare of a profession and what this understanding is; the abilities, experiences, and accomplishments that demonstrate your fit with UCLA's MSW program; and your specific career or educational goals.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
