NIT Trichy B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Admission criteria for undergraduate engineering programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), institutions funded by participating state governments, and other institutions shall include performance in class 12/equivalent qualifying examination, and the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). 

For JEE Mains:

The following subject combinations must be included in the qualifying exam to be admitted to NITs' B.E./B.Tech. and B. Arch./B. Planning programs. The eligibility criteria are given below:

Under the DASA scheme of the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, undergraduate programs at prestigious technical institutions are open to foreign nationals, persons of Indian origin, non-resident Indians, and overseas citizens of India. The candidate must have completed the Senior Secondary (10+2) qualifying exam or its equivalent from any recognized educational system as acknowledged by the Association of Indian Universities (www.aiuweb.org).

Applicant should have completed successfully Mathematics, Physics, and one of the subjects (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) in 11th and/or 12, as applicable in the respective boards and Applicant must have secured a minimum of at least 60% aggregate marks (average of all subjects of qualifying examination taken together) or 6.50 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent in the qualifying examination. If only grades are awarded, percentage / CGPA equivalence provided by the principal examination authorities will only be considered. Applicants should have a minimum total valid score of 1440 in SAT Subject Tests (Subjects: Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry).

Admission to NITs through the Central Seat Allocation Board will be determined by All India Rank, with a requirement that the applicant is in the top 20 percentile or have at least 75% of the possible points in the 12th-grade exam administered by the relevant Boards. The qualifying score for SC/ST candidates in the 12th-grade exam would be 65%. The candidate must take the JEE Main for selection. If they have a positive score, the candidate has to go for JoSAA counselling.

Candidates who are eligible for admission have to take the JEE Main. The application process is given below:
