Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) Admission 2024: Admission, Application process
Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) is a deemed university providing Fisheries Education, located in Mumbai. The university provides only two courses i.e M.F.Sc and Ph.D in the areas of Fisheries and Agricultural education. The university offers education at the postgraduate (PG) and Doctoral level.
- A combined examination for the award of ICAR Junior Research Fellowship and admissions to 100% seats of Master's Degree Programme at CIFE is conducted by the Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
- An All India Competitive Written Examination for admission to Ph.D. in Fisheries shall be held in June at Mumbai. The candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria will be permitted to appear at the Entrance Test.
- For rest of the Ph.D specializations, a written test covering the subject matter shall be conducted before the interview.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) with a minimum of 60% marks under the 10+2+4 with system are eligible to apply for admission. Candidates having an overall grade point average (OGPA) of 6.50 out of 10.00 are considered eligible to apply in the concerned course.

At the Doctoral level, the institute offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree under several specializations. Each of the specialization takes three years to complete the duration period.
For admission into the Ph.D. programme in Fisheries, An All India Competitive Written Examination shall be held in June at Mumbai. The candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria will be permitted to appear at the Entrance Test. For rest of the Ph.D specializations, a written test covering the subject matter shall be conducted before the interview.

I chose this college for pursuing master's degree because it is India's best government fisheries science University. Earlier, ICAR conducted the AIEEA PG examination but from 2018, NTA started conducting this examination in online mode. The exams are usually held in between July and August month. There are 96 seats at present in this university. It has four sub-centers located in different parts of the country undertaking research in different aquatic environment. Lab facilities are excellent and is well equipped with instruments of present day need. One can work under different on going projects like DBT and NAHEP which are world bank funded projects to enhance the experience. Academic session is held only in Mumbai center but research can be done in the center itself or in the various sub centers as per one's interest. Since it is a central government college the facilities it provides is better than any other college and the exposure is also great along with the qualified scientists .

To get admission in MFsc the candidate must have passed Bachelors degree in fisheries with minimum 60% marks is eligible to apply for the course of MFSc. The candidate has to qualify the entrance test conducted by ICAR.

The total number of seats for the course is 10. I was lucky that I got selected in the college. I had scored 60% marks in my B.FSc. that why I was eligible to apply for M.FSc. admissions. The candidate need to apply online.
