Course Curriculum Overview:

Our curriculum is fully based on ICAR system. We follow ICAR syllabus and rules strictly. This helps us to know about the ICAR system well. They offer 3 internals for the students. If someone gets highest marks in 1st internal, he doesn't need to appear in the next two internals.

Internships Opportunities:

They offer 1 year of Master's research that is equivalent to PhD in short time. During this time, I participated several training programs provided by ICAR. I worked as a research scholar. You can work either in the college or other research institute for your dissertation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am doing specialization in aquaculture for my master degree. It is a two year course wherein first year is the academic year and second year is the research year. Aquaculture is considered as the mother subject in fisheries science. Teacher Student ratio is 1:13 . Each teacher can very well guide two students for research. Each teacher is actually an ARS qualified scientist. As of now, a master degree student can appear for ARS exam post. According to the new notice, which shall apply from 2022, it will be mandatory for a student to have a PhD degree in order to appear for ARS exam. Teaching is mostly practical based and we get a chance to be a part of various institutional training. Exams are conducted in the predicted time. Few minor courses(from other departments) and supporting course viz. Statistics require attention more than the others and are difficult to pass otherwise major courses require understanding to answer.

CIFE has good facilities for many recreational activities including badminton courts, volleyball and basketball court, tennis, etc. Also, the college has facilities for some indoor games like chess and carom. As I am interested in sports I have taken participation in ICAR level sports meet last year and won medals for my college.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

The total fees of my course is 32,900 in which we have to pay 16,700 in the first year and 16,200 in the second year. I'm in the second year of my course. But before taking admission I made some research and found that the recharge by the college is less when compared to many other big colleges.

Placement Experience:

hough maximum of the students want to carry out their higher study as Ph.D. scholar from CIFE, there are many opportunities for those who wants early settlement in life. If private sector is concerned, many fish feed manufacturing company like Godrej, CP, Avanti use to conduct yearly basis interview and choose the talents from CIFE. The higher posts of the company like the marketing supervisor, R and D are offered with lucrative deal to the students. The good reputation of CIFE assures a good placement scope for the students. If central job is concerned, there is always a chance to become an Agriculture Research Scientist (ARS) through the examination conducted by the Agriculture Research Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB), ICAR, government. Of West Bengal. The ICAR NET qualified students in respective discipline have the scope to become Assistant Professor in any Fisheries University. From my senior batch 6 students got selected as ARS, 3 students got selected in the marketing wing of Godrej feed company. Even in my batch though maximum of them were selected in their respective State government job, 2 students again got selected in Godrej feed company. The excellent placement scope is now attracting the young generation toward the fisheries sector, keeping CIFE at the centre of all of these.

Faculty:

CIFE has an excellent Faculty to educate the students. As the teachers are scientists themselves there isn't any question regarding their knowledge an qualification in this field. The PPT method of teaching helps the student to understand the topic more deeply followed by the practical classes so make the students confident and skillful. The curriculum offers an exposure visit to the respective field of practical working area. As Fisheries Science is a technical course, the course curriculum rightly offers both theoretical and practical exposure to the students.
