- A *developing* infrastructure, which cannot be compared to the present facilities at the old IITs. IIT Mandi is 15 kms away from the main Mandi city, so you get that Dominoz, and partying, and all that stuff at a stake of travelling 45minutes on bus
- (IIT has its own buses running every hour between Mandi and the Campus). So if you are too much into city life and stuff then you may not like IIT Mandi. The inter-college fests they organize are less attractive than the big colleges however you get
Faculty:
TEACHERS Teachers are very much knowledgeable friendly and qualified from IIts there teaches us with practical applications. The course curriculum is very useful and helps a lot in placements and higher studies. STUDENT TO FACULTY RATIO IIT Mandi has a favorable student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1. This ratio is considered one of the best among the IITs, allowing faculty to give more individual attention to students, enhancing their educational experience. The institute is known for its strong emphasis on research and innovation, which is supported by this robust ratio. - Infrastructure: infrastructure is well maintained here. We have a huge library, mega classrooms, auditorium, OAT, sports complex.
- Club culture: club culture is good relative to other colleges.
Dislikes
- Connectivity: no railway station in mandi make it a very hard to reach.
- Faculty: some faculty are very rude to students and grading is relatively tough.
Faculty:
Faculty to student ratio is nearly 1:20, learning here I can say is far better than other engineering College but their is scope of improvement. All faculty have completed PhD in their respective domain but I personally don't like way of teaching from most of teachers. One can interact with faculty easily they are friendly in nature. They help you in your daily problems.

- The people or the batchmates here are very helpful . Everyone feels like family here . We people enjoy together , go on treks, visited and explored new places in Himachal Pradesh . The thing here is that the whole campus is surrounded by mountains...
- The food is tasty , as compred to kota which i resided during my jee days . The quality of food is good . No issues in it

- The campus is beautiful but it is not so large as compared to other government colleges. But it's fine though.
- They teach subjects like Engineering drawing to even Computer science students in the 1st year . But that's not a huge problem ig 😂
Faculty:
As in 1st year everyone have same classes and there is no separation among students but for 2-3 subjects in 2nd sem . The teachers and teaching assisstences here in IIT MANDI are highly qualified , and one can easily ask doubt and other things in the middle of the ongoing class or even after the class.

- Career and Placement cell - my main concern for joining IITMandi was placement, and it was a write decision to join it . In 2023 , the median package for data science and engineering branch was 32 lpa and average was also similar to it .
- Upto date courses- The courses are updated and as per the industrial level . In the world AI and ML , there are three courses on Data science (1 , 2 and 3) compulsory for each branch , so there would be more interdisciplinair work.
Dislikes
- Connectivity- there is connectivity problem between north and south campus , although a shorter path has been made but its not completed
- Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . I think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .
Faculty:
IIT mandi's faculty is highly qualified and most of them are having degrees from foreign universities. Since our director is ex IIT kanpur electrical department head so he has recruited some highly qualified professors from IIT kanpur . Our computer science and electrical department chairperson Aditya nigam sir himself is known personality in the Iris recognition system in the world. Teacher are highly encouraging and always available for help . You can connect to any teacher by taking an appointment over mail . Teacher combines theoretical knowledge with the practical application like most of the courses have 1/2 labs each week . Which is evaluated by professors. They provide good opportunities to work under them to get hands on research experience. The Robotics department teachers are highly encouraging to built new robots which can be industrial used

- Best place to have trips as it's a beautiful place with many wonderful tourism spots nearly 2-4 hours from the college.

- Travelling can be a hectic job as the way is full of ghats road
- Weather can be too extreme, all in winters, summers and monsoons.
Faculty:
We have very good faculty. As we are given with many different projects in every year of college, it helps us to get good experience in working. Professors suggest us many different ways to approach. For theoretical part they give us a lot of assignments, tutorials and conduct few quizzes during the semester.

The faculty to student ratio is very precise and the faculties have a very strong knowledge about their course and topic. Some faculties have different methods of teaching, including labs, tutorials projects, et cetera. Teaches a very friendly and very approachable, and they always help out whenever we have problem

- Diverse branches, flexible curriculum, courses to encourage robotics, entrepreneurship etc

- The route between two campuses is not that proper especially if there are any lansdslides
- The bus timings between the two campuses and from campus to Mandi are very busy during peak hours
Faculty:
The faculty-to-student ratio is just right. We have a very experienced faculty and they often are engaged in some research. They also provide some internship opportunities to the students interested. Apart from studies, if you wish to work on any topic, publish a research paper, participate in any tech events, they are always there to help you.

What is your review of Faculty Of IIT Mandi?
I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.
One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.
In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
