Placement Experience:

IIMs offer 100% placement and the average package of IIM A is 31 lpa which is quite great. Highest packages come close to 1 crore. Every student gets the opportunity of a summer internship program in the 1st year and some are offered pre placement offers too. After the second year students get placed in huge companies with great packages and tend to have a lavish life. IIM A alumni network is very strong too and students get to be inspired by great leader like Ajay Banga who is currently the CEO of Mastercard and nominated to be World Bank CEO too.

The placement process starts from the time we join the campus. It is a cluster cohort system, with an aim of right fit for every student.. For first-year students after completion of Term 1, a Summer internship takes place, and for second-year placement start after 5th term. Many companies visit campus offering various profiles in Finance, consulting, marketing, IT, product management, real estate, consumer goods, and pharmaceuticals. 190 recruiters offered 220 offers during the last season. However, it is confidential to share the name of the companies. Highest package was Rs. 1.12 CTC, an average of Rs. 36.2 LPA in India. International offers had the highest package of $150,297. 100% of opted students got placed in the last season. Admission:

I was not really confident that I would be shortlisted for an interview and especially considering my CAT percentile I was a bit on the lower percentile. So, I was not hoping that I would get a call even. Once the shortlisted are out, I realize that I was in for the interview and then I've started preparing for my interview because I was so convinced that anyhow wanted to convert. Cut to the day of my interview, my interview was last in the whole panel. So, they gave me a lot of time and I was quite pretty after that and even the panelists were very tired I could tell. So, when I went into the room, they asked me only a few questions & my interview was all for like 5 minutes. After coming out, I had given up the thought that I would be able to convert it because I felt that I had not performed my best, also I was not given enough time also. So, I just lost all hopes about it and try to other interviews. But once the results came out, I was waitlisted and so again I thought that maybe this waitlist really does fire me. Again I was very disappointed that time. But then after a month, I was in and that was the best for me I think. There only 2 panelists for my interview and both of them were faculty members and they haven't created stress sort of environment but they were not interested in peeking into my interview because their question was very basic and quite random because they asked me questions like ok tell me all the districts in your state. So, I just felt that the interview was just for the shake over and they asked me some basic questions about accountancy, what I had major in my UG. So, that is something related to my academics and they just asked me some intro questions like tell me about yourself and something about that. So, my interview was only around 5-6 questions and all of 5 minutes. So, I just felt that the panel was probably tired, they were not interested in taking my interview and that is what I thought that I would probably not get in.Regarding the WAT process, the topics were very basic. I don't remember all the topics, I don't even remember one topic because it has been more than a year. But the topics were very basic, it was either testing your creativity or your general knowledge and you had to express your views on them. Time was sufficient I would say because I was able to complete whatever thoughts I had in my mind for all these processes. So, I wouldn't say that the time was an issue and as for the moderators, they were not making it uncomfortable, they were quite commutative, and they gave enough time. So, my experience was ok.

IIM Ahemdabad

4.5Helpful

Admission:

There was no GD. In the WAT, I was mostly asked about land, acquisition, will, and land reforms in general. In the personal interview, so, I worked in not exactly the telecom sector but I worked in Samsung and our clients were from the telecom sector. So, I was asked about the telecom industry. At that time they asked about AGR dues, a lot of cases running between telecom giants, and the supreme. So, read about that and a little bit about my course curriculum under my undergraduate as well, the subjects I had. About the Ahmedabad experience, there were 2 members and both were faculty.

How good is the IIM Ahmedabad PGPX 1-year full-time program?

Abanti
Devansh PathakStudied at IIM Ahmedabad

If your current package is less than 15 LPA, pursuing PGPX 1-year full-time program at IIM Ahmedabad is good. You should look at international colleges if your current package exceeds 15 LPA. You should always do your MBA and find a job outside of India. India is simply the world's back office. It is different if you want to be an IAS officer, but Indian corporate is slavery and junk. Working here for an extended period of time will undoubtedly turn you into a lunatic.

One week of college life is enough to demonstrate the quality of American education. The tasks are out of this world. Americans are among the world's smartest and most innovative people. As a last resort, continue your education in India. Even if you have more than 5 years of work experience, IIM A/ISB will only hire you in one of India's back offices.

Are the IIMs at Ahmedabad Bangalore and Calcutta equally good, especially regarding placements?

Rohini Mishra
Rishabh SinghLives in banglore

Each of these IIMs has developed its unique personality over the years, and each one has its own strengths and weaknesses.

IIMB intakes people with good and relevant work experience, IIMA seeks a good academic record and a bit of humbleness in a candidate, and IIMC looks for strong analytical skills (it has the highest CAT cutoffs).

During placements, companies that want experienced professionals prefer IIMB, IIMA is visited by companies because of its strong alumni list, and IIMC is preferred by the Banking Sector because of the perception that its students are more quantitatively oriented.

The three of them receive almost the same companies during placements. So for a candidate seeking good career opportunities in a certain field, all three IIMs are equally good. It is just that each one has a certain image associated with its brand, and ranks accordingly in the preference lists of recruiters.

How is it like being at FMS Delhi? Would you trade your life with someone studying in top IIMs A B or C?

Gaurav YadavMBA in Marketing, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (Graduated 2002)

In comparison to the IIMs, FMS retains the advantages of small batch size and a fee structure that is relatively low. The small batch size simplifies placements significantly. With the exception of a few foreign consultancies, most of the top companies that visit the IIMs also visit FMS. Despite all of the university's bureaucracy, etc., there is a well-established alumni network that still ensures that things work out for the current batches.

Because of the small batch size, people are extremely competitive. This was in stark contrast to what you hear about the IIMs. Even though they have competition but they maintain some semblance of sanity due to the large batch. FMS can be difficult to manage at times, both in obvious behaviours and subtle actions by people you study with.

The culture at FMS is influenced by the culture of Delhi. In comparison, IIMs are unquestionably more cosmopolitan. Unless you have prior exposure, adjusting to a new environment can be difficult for people from very different cultures, such as the South or East. Otherwise, you'll have to learn to adjust the hard way. But it's still worth the effort. The people you meet in both locations are of the highest calibre. It is up to you to make the best of the situation.

Even if given the chance, there's no way one would like to trade places with the IIMs.

What is your review of Life at IIM Ahmedabad?

Parth ReddyStudied at IIM Ahmedabad

IIM Ahmedabad is a top management institution getting into which is a dream of many aspirants.

My sister went to IIM Ahmedabad for her dual degree. According to her, the institution is incredible for various reasons. Her class was filled with students who were geniuses, having been selected from among 1000 aspirants. Most of the time she had difficulty in following the entire lesson or conversation. At the same time, one is exposed to incredible speed, quality, depth of analysis, and precision of synthesis.

This is why an IIM A graduate gets a huge advantage in anything that they try to pursue.

The architecture is amazing and highly inspiring. My sister loved the activities at IIM A and its vibe. The people are incredible and still most of them are down-to-earth in nature.

The Environment at IIM Ahmedabad is good and there are no restrictions as such. People are broad-minded and one can freely express oneself. The faculty members are friendly with the students. There are different clubs that conduct various activities which enable students to pursue their interests in fields outside of academics.

IIM Ahmedabad also runs the Facebook and Twitter pages of the student community where the latest student activities, achievements, and events, among other aspects of students’ life at IIMA are posted.

Overall, the experience of students at IIM Ahmedabad is very good and the institution truly ensures an all-round development of its students.
