Ans. The Faculty Development Programme of IIM Ahmedabad is designed for various teachers and researchers working in schools, colleges, and universities providing management courses. This course is for educators who want to strengthen their understanding of general management as well as gain exposure to learn and play with effective pedagogical techniques. Teachers from staff training colleges and institutes of central and state governments who teach management and allied subjects can also apply for the same. This course helps them get expertise in carrying out research studies.

Ans. Two sessions are held 5 days a week for this programme. The timings are from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM and the next session is held from 7:30 PM to 8:45 PM. Weekdays are preferred for the sessions mostly but in case of any requirement, scheduling on the weekends can be done as well.
For on-campus FDP, a maximum of 5 sessions are held per day from Monday to Saturday. The session timings are 8:45 AM to 1:10 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:20 PM. There are short breaks of 20 minutes each in between the sessions.
Ques. Do I need to give CAT to be eligible for other courses offered by IIM Ahmedabad?
Ans. No, not necessarily, there are some courses offered by IIM Ahmedabad that don't require you to sit for the CAT exam. Some of these courses are online courses like Restaurant Design and Management, HR Analytics, Young Entrepreneurs Program, Management and Finance for Experienced Chartered Accountants, etc. There are also some offline classroom courses that have different eligibility criteria, like the 1 year executive MBA (PGPX) program, Ph.D. Program, etc., to be eligible for these programs you don’t need a CAT score, they have their own eligibility criteria like for example, to be able to take the PGPX program a candidate has to appear for GRE exam, must be more than 25 years of age, must have work experience of more than four years after his/her graduation.
Ques. What are the prospects of PhD in Management from IIM Ahmedabad compared to MBA?
Ans. A PhD in management from IIM Ahmedabad takes almost 4-5 years or even more than that. If you want to join a PhD programme solely based on your research interests, it might not be the most lucrative option for you but if you want to go for a teaching profession in the future, you should definitely consider this option. If you want to land a high-end research role in the industry of statistics, data science, machine learning or economics, you should consider going for PhD. The monetary benefits that you receive from this degree will be relatively lesser than any other MBA course, too. While pursuing PhD, you get to choose your own flexible timings for work and everybody research except for the lecture timings. One of the cons of this degree will be that you will get little to no pay for addressing your students’, alums, and faculty members’ queries and being a part of endless meetings at odd hours of the day.
Ques. Which is better, a management PhD from IIT or an FPM from IIM Ahmedabad?
Ans. IITs are more inclined towards research based programmes while IIM Ahmedabad focuses on the holistic development of every individual and the scope is not only limited to research but also to bettering the skills through various activities. The students taking admission in IITs come from technical backgrounds and they audit relevant skills required for further research like electrical engineering, data science, statistics, mathematics, software engineering, etc. This previous knowledge of research based disciplines gives them an edge and further enhances the quality of their research. On the other hand, IIM Ahmedabad provides a holistic schedule to individuals so that they are already exposed to different fields of management. Due to this exposure to management skills, an individual having FPM degree from IIM has a better growth rate than an individual who has studied night and day without any exposure from the rigorous coursework at IITs. So, IIM Ahmedabad makes you a great teacher imparting knowledge in management while IITs prepare you to be an independent researcher. If you can do research based activities without any guidance from professionals, you should definitely consider going for an FPM from IIM Ahmedabad.
Ques. Does UGC approve the FDP in Pedagogy and Research Methods provided by IIM Ahmedabad?
Ans. No, UGC or any other body has not approved this course as of now but IIM Ahmedabad issues a certificate to all the faculty members participating in the course by the end of the programme.
Ques. Is overall 80 percentile really enough to get shortlisted for the interview at IIM Ahmedabad?
Ans. The minimum overall cut-off mentioned for a general category student in IIM Ahmedabad 's official website is 80 percentile, but it doesn’t guarantee that you will surely get shortlisted for the interviews, this cut-off is only to segregate the eligible candidates from the rest of the competition, after segregating the eligible candidates there are many other factors that are taken into consideration before preparing the final list of calls that need to be given out for the interviews. There is also a minimum sectional cut-off of 70 percentile for each of the three sections. IIM Ahmedabad has given students interview calls in the 80-85 percentile in the past, but to get the call at these percentiles you must have a very strong profile. Your overall profile includes your academic profile, that is your 10th, 12th and graduation marks, they might also include your academic achievements too, the college also gives a score for your work experience, you must have 2-3 years of experience to get the maximum points, it also gives points for gender and academic diversity. Considering all these factors, your CAT score and a few other factors, IIM Ahmedabad prepares a composite score through which it decides whether to give a call for an interview to a particular student or not.
Ques. Will I get direct admission in IIM Ahmedabad if I score 100 percentile in CAT?
Ans. There is a good chance that you will get a call for the interviews from IIM Ahmedabad , but it isn’t guaranteed. IIM Ahmedabad gives calls based on a composite score that is calculated by considering your CAT score, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, gender diversity, academic diversity, etc., weightage is allotted to each of these sections and scores are given based on a range of scores. IIM Ahmedabad or any other IIM, for that matter, doesn’t give direct admission solely based on your CAT percentile, the first phase of admission process is giving CAT exam, you must clear the sectional cut-offs and the minimum cut-off to be eligible and considered for the call, you must also get shortlisted to get a shot at the interviews and group discussion process. There have been many cases of students who had scored a perfect 100 percentile in CAT exam but weren’t called or shortlisted for the interviews and group discussions. This shows that a call, let alone a direct admission, at 100 percentile is not guaranteed. So, to increase your chances of getting a call from IIM Ahmedabad , you must score very high in the exam, must also have a very good academic record and good work experience.
Ques. Is there any international scholarship available for non-Indian citizens at IIM Ahmedabad?
Ans. Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation’ (ITEC) Scholarship Programme, Special Commonwealth African Assistance Programme (SCAAP) and Technical Cooperation Scheme of Colombo Plan (TCS of Colombo Plan) are some of the scholarships available to foreign students. Individuals who are citizens of 162 Partner Countries are eligible for a full scholarship from the Department of Programme Administration, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India . These 162 countries include countries from Latin America, East Europe, Africa, and Asia. The scholarship includes a return air-fare, monthly allowance, stationery allowance, allowance for travelling, and a full programme fee.
Ques. Do I need to appear for CAT for IIM Ahmedabad ’s 1 year MBA program?
Ans. The one year PGPX program offered by IIM Ahmedabad is an executive MBA program for students with at least 4 years of work experience. You don’t need to appear for CAT to be eligible for this program. The criteria to be eligible for this program is very different from the eligibility criteria of the traditional two year MBA program offered by the institute. To be eligible for the one year executive program the student must be of minimum 25 years of age. The educational qualification required is a bachelor’s degree or any other equivalent degree in any discipline. The candidate also has to appear for the GRE exam and more than the minimum required score for admission in this program. Moreover, the candidate must have a minimum work experience of four years after the completion of his/her graduation. The placement opportunity given by IIM Ahmedabad to it’s PGPX students is very good, top-notch MNCs come to the campus to hire the students pursuing this executive program, there are students who sit for the placements and there are also some students who go on to start their own businesses.

Ans. It's a postgraduate program so you should have an undergraduate degree, I did my bachelors from miranda house DU. Then I wrote the CAT exam which happens every year in the month of November every year. You can get all the information about CAT exam, pattern, syllabus and the best colleges in India from a youtuber named CATKING. All this information can also be availed from the official site of CAT examinations. I belong to NC OBC category and we have reserved seats in every IIM, so yes I was able to avail the reserved quota. Students from SC, ST, OBC and EWS backgrounds can also avail the same. The application fee of the form is somewhere around 1000 to 2000, you shall be notified about the same from the official website atleast 2 months before the exam. The site is iimcat.ac.in After the exam the results are declared in less than a month followed by the colleges sending you a letter for personal interview round. For getting into the top colleges you need 95 to 100 percentile if from nonreservation

You need to fulfill college admission criteria after appearing for CAT results. Should have atleat 80% in all three subjects of the CAT exam. Preferred if you have an agriculture background. But food tech, Agri tech, dairy tech, and biotech can also apply. The profile should be built to stand out among candidates. All application forms are on the official website of CAT and the college.

Admissions to IIM Ahmedabad PGP MBA a 2-year program are through CAT (Common entrance exam). Eligibility: The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks or equivalent. Entrance exam: The application form shall be available on the official IIM website 2 months before the exam. The application fee may vary from year to year. However, it was Rs. 1200 for general category applicants and Rs. 900 for SC/ST/PWD category applicants. Application date starts usually start in August and end by mid-September. Improvement in the admission process: 1. Multiple admission rounds: To provide a chance to attempt CAT multiple (at least twice)a year, this would help the applicant to give the exam at a suitable time. 2. Consider multiple entrance tests like CAT, GMAT, GRE, and XAT to add more diversity 3. To include seats for foreign students on at least some quota basis, this would help in enriching the learning with cross-country diversity.

The admission process consists of 3 stages. The first one is writing the CAT exam and qualifying for the minimum cut-off. In the second stage, IIMA considers past academic records, work ex, and background along with CAT score for shortlisting to the interview round. Then the 3rd stage is the interview and WAT (Written Ability Test) round, after which they offer admission. Application forms can be found on the CAT website (released in the first week of August).
All graduation degree holders are eligible. The application can be found in the CAT form. No different application form. The admission process is very smooth. It consists of written ability tests & personal interviews.
Every Bachelor's degree holder is eligible. You can find the application in the CAT form filling. Shortlists are rolled out followed by interviews. The admission process is very efficient. Shortlists are based on CAT score, 10th, 12th & graduation marks.
The candidates were required to give entrance exams like CAT. The cutoff for FABM stays around the 90 to 95 percentile. The exam takes place around November. Post the exam the candidate also has to give PI and then the shortlist is released.
If you are already convinced that an average student cannot make it into IIM Ahmedabad, then you won’t be giving your best. Remember it's your mindset that determines your chances of admission.
I will narrate an anecdote of a friend who took the CAT, a few months ago. He had done a B.E. in electronics and comm. from a top local institute in Bengaluru and worked for 10 months in an IT role. He received a list of colleges he should target from his coaching based on his scores and overall profile.
Nevertheless, he wanted to get into IIM Ahmedabad. He had no one to guide him and his list did not have a single IIM. It seemed almost impossible but he did not give up.
Ultimately, he made it into IIM Ahmedabad and all his friends were shocked. They couldn’t believe someone with an average profile like him.
Let’s talk about the advantages and disadvantages of these options before choosing one of them.
RBI Grade B -
IIMA -
Factor in all these points to make the decision that’s best for you.
Yes, there is a chance that you may not receive a call from IIM even after scoring 100 percentile in CAT. However, this happens only for IIM Bangalore.
You will receive a call from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta because they choose the top 50 percentilers. But IIM Bangalore has an unknown logarithm for the admission process. I think it focuses too much on academics.
The entire admission process at IIM Ahmedabad for the PGP comprises 3 stages.
Stage 1:Preliminary Screening
The candidates that have cleared the CAT cutoff are shortlisted on the basis of a Composite Score or CS. The composite score is made up of academic rating score (AR) (includes 10th marks, 12th marks, and work experience) and normalized overall CAT score.
Or we can say,
Composite Score = Application Rating Score + Normalized CAT score
Application Rating score is based on class 10th, 12th, and bachelor exams, and work experience scores.
Shortlisting for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI):
The candidates with the best academic profiles and CAT scores will be further shortlisted for the next round. The shortlisted candidates will be called for AWT and a personal interview round.
Final Selection:
At this stage, candidates will be shortlisted across each category (General/ SC/ ST/ NC-OBC/ PwD) separately, based on their Final Composite Score (FCS).
The CAT cut-off is mentioned in the table below

IIM Ahmedabad's admission process is carried out into three stages:
And, Application Rating score is based on class 10th, 12th and bachelor exams, and work experience scores. Rather than that several parameters are considered, including:
It's important to note that a consistently good academic record, along with a high CAT score, plays a significant role in securing a spot at IIM Ahmedabad. Additionally, the institution values diversity and considers gender diversity and academic diversity as part of the selection process.
Though Shri Ram College of Commerce has high cut-offs for admission at the graduation level, it is incorrect to assume that all SRCC students who pass the CAT exam will be admitted to IIM Ahmadabad. It is important to remember that work experience is highly valued at IIM Ahmadabad.
Many students from other colleges apply to prestigious institutes. Nothing can stop you from getting into IIM Ahmedabad if you are determined to do so. So remember that regardless of where you studied, you can still get into IIM Ahmedabad.
Comparing JBIMS with IIMs is highly unjustified as IIMs are way ahead of JBIMS or FMS even if we consider the ROI. They are unique in many aspects such as
So one should choose JBIMS or FMS over IIM only if one wants to spend low fees, take no loans, or pursue MBA in Mumbai or Delhi.
Yes, there are many students who got admission into IIM Ahmedabad with a percentile less than 99. The profile of one such student is mentioned below:
Fresher, B.Com, General Category
X: More than 95%
XII: More than 95%
UG: 80+, and a CAT score of 98.74%.
You must keep an open mind. Be adaptable. You do not always get what you wish for. You must sometimes compromise. So, take a seat. Stop worrying and get on with your life.
Your preferences, likes, and passions do not always remain constant. They can change, and if they do, be open to it. Do what you believe is best for you right now, but don't be stubborn.
An undergraduate degree from IGNOU is acceptable for taking the CAT and getting into an IIM.
An IGNOU degree in no way means that you can not try for the IIMs. But whether an IGNOU degree will lower your chances or not, is solely known upon the interviewers.
Your chances of getting selected largely depend on your overall profile. One of my seniors at IIM Ahmedabad had completed his UG from IGNOU. His overall profile was really impressive, and he also possessed work experience of 2 years as a CA. Thus, he was selected for IIMA.
Make sure to maintain an impressive academic profile, and score well in your CAT exam. If you do so, an IGNOU degree most likely won’t hinder your selection into IIM Ahmedabad.
