Course Curriculum Overview:

University provides you with an option to choose your preferred subjects and focus on them. it helps students to get a better alignment with their career targets. Students can choose their preferred subject combinations as their major. It allows us to go deeper into our preferred subjects. Even though the curriculum is not always up to date, the faculty ensures that students are staying updated on the real world happenings. An annual revision of course curriculum and addition of relevant subjects are still a necessity to keep students prepared for the industry. Exams are held twice a year. Regular college going students may find exams easier than others as they can assess which areas are given focus by the faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So, basically, there are 4 semesters, each including 5 subjects. In each semester of the first year, you cover subjects you've studied in your BCom and BCom (Hons). Then, in the second year, you choose a major and minor based on your interest field, such as marketing, finance, international business, and banking. These are mostly common subjects opted for by students, based on the faculty. Generally, you have teachers who mostly teach you in DSE, so you follow the curriculum accordingly for exams. For internals and attendance, you need to attend your respective department.

I chose B.com Honors because I was not clear about which career path I will choose in the future. So, I decided to go with Bachelor of Commerce Honors. Faculty: student ratio is 10:40. The faculty members were mostly PhD degree holders and were very friendly. The term exams were on time and were quite easy to pass. I wanted to do post-graduation so after completing my graduation I opted for further studies which are a Master of Commerce. Faculty: student ratio is 5:45. Faculty members were PhD degree holders and friendly. The term exams were on time and it was not difficult to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have done my graduation in BCom and wanted to further excel in the same field so I chose this course and since Delhi University is the most prestigious one and adds value to each course that is pursued, I found it appropriate to do my post-graduation. Although 400 seats in M.Com are divided between 16 colleges but classes for all the students take place in the Department of Commerce (DSE) only and it's a well-known fact that the faculty in Delhi school of economics is just amazing. The professors are known for their wisdom and knowledge and they are on the list of top professors of India. The teachers are very well experienced and very well qualified, giving in-depth knowledge of each and every topic in the syllabus. The teaching methods used by our professors are very unique and quite indulging. They explain everything while giving practical examples. Also, exams take place on a timely basis and if a student has attended most of the classes, he/she Will definitely be able to get good marks.

How do I prepare for the M com entrance exam in DU to ensure admission in preferred college?

Praver Katyal
Aarzoo ShahM.Com from Delhi School of Economics

You can enroll in the course by taking an entrance exam. The other route is based on graduation marks. If you worked hard in your B. Com(H), this should be a piece of cake.

The paper is divided into five sections:

  1. Economics
  2. Management
  3. Statistics
  4. Accounting
  5. General Affairs

Below are the few things that are required to be done:

  • Examine the previous year's question papers. You can obtain them from the DSE Photocopy Shop.
  • Classify the topics that appear frequently in the entrance examination. Search for those topics on the internet.
  • Purchase Pratyogita Darpan as well.
  • You can begin a meditation routine to avoid being distracted by unnecessary thoughts on the day of the exam, as the paper requires concentration and a clear mind. Please bring a water bottle, fruit juice, or whatever you prefer.
  • Reference books: Arihant, R. Gupta, B. Com books and Notes, previous year question papers from DSE Photocopy Shop and Pratyogita Darpan.
