Delhi University: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 11 Reviews

The college provides a supportive and experienced faculty with a focus on academics and extracurricular activities, maintaining a close-knit learning environment with a faculty-to-student ratio of 3:4. The curriculum is relevant, offering weekend classes and online fee payment options. Exams are challenging, with a significant failure rate. Master's students undergo an internal assessment system each semester. The fee structure is manageable, with flexible payment methods available. Campus placements start in the third semester, with eligibility from the 5th semester, featuring companies like Deloitte and offering salary packages between 5 to 20 lakhs.

The placement cell is active, and about 40% of students secure placements, while others opt for further studies or non-corporate careers. The college charges minimal tuition fees, with commerce fees starting at 4,000 rupees annually, while other colleges charge significantly more. Exam fees are around 800 rupees per semester. Some departments offer scholarships, reducing fees by up to 5,000 rupees for SC/ST students. The university offers partial or full fee refunds based on interviews for economically disadvantaged students.

However, the lack of comprehensive scholarships, loan facilities, and limited hostel availability may pose challenges for economically weaker students.

The year wise fees that I paid was Rs. 23,219. It was inclusive of tuition fees, caution fees, development charges, admission fees and other compulsary charges. The fees structure was same for all categories like SC and SC. My batchmates paid the same amount of fees as mine. Our college provide scholarships for the refund of 50%-100% of the college fees. It was based on a personal interview by the authorities.

The fees of one year mcom course is 9500 if you want to take study material in hard copy but if you don't want to take study material than you have pay only 8500 This college is good for those who wants to do job along with their studies And you also have to pay examination fees per subject 200.you have do the registration for next year before the exam. You also have to submit assignment for every semester you have the choice wheather you want to submit assignments for yearly or semester wise same as exam it's upto you wheather you want to give the exam semester wise or annually. You have pay the fees yearly.generally it has flexibility in learning with good quality study material at an affordable price, making it a good option for distance education, but with some drawbacks like potential issues with exam evaluation and limited placement support; overall, considered a decent choice for those seeking a degree while managing other commitments.

My 1 year fees for m.com is 25,500 no category benefits. It same for everyone. There is opportunity for scholarship only 1 student will get the benefit of scholarship out of 29 students. It's god but only tutes will held in hansraj 3 days a week rest classess will held in department of commerce which has no attendance for college students. There less attention given to the college students but offcourse students can attend regularly classes. There is no special benefit for the college preference. Even doc students have less fees then the college students. But ofc the students are here to learn and they can make there career as a lot of great opportunities do come once should grab it. But mostly students who want to be lecturer can be seen in the m.com course.

Placement cell is excellent but they won't directly provide placement to mcom students as it is for bcom hons.. this is the only disadvantage during mcom.. so I got placement from DSE cell. Infrastructure is amazing. Professors are nice and punctual. Fees is also average but high as compared to other colleges Also fest are the best if happened.

How do I prepare for the M com entrance exam in DU to ensure admission in preferred college?

Praver Katyal
Aarzoo ShahM.Com from Delhi School of Economics

You can enroll in the course by taking an entrance exam. The other route is based on graduation marks. If you worked hard in your B. Com(H), this should be a piece of cake.

The paper is divided into five sections:

  1. Economics
  2. Management
  3. Statistics
  4. Accounting
  5. General Affairs

Below are the few things that are required to be done:

  • Examine the previous year's question papers. You can obtain them from the DSE Photocopy Shop.
  • Classify the topics that appear frequently in the entrance examination. Search for those topics on the internet.
  • Purchase Pratyogita Darpan as well.
  • You can begin a meditation routine to avoid being distracted by unnecessary thoughts on the day of the exam, as the paper requires concentration and a clear mind. Please bring a water bottle, fruit juice, or whatever you prefer.
  • Reference books: Arihant, R. Gupta, B. Com books and Notes, previous year question papers from DSE Photocopy Shop and Pratyogita Darpan.
