NERIST Admission 2024 (Open): Eligibility and Selection Process

B.Tech at NERIST is offered in six different engineering disciplines, namely, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Admission is based on NERIST conducted entrance test NEE II. The institute also accepts students having a valid JEE Main score followed by NERIST counselling. 

NERIST also offers B.Tech (Lateral) courses. Candidates who have passed a 3 year of diploma are eligible to apply with a valid score in NEE-III.  

NERIST B.Tech/ B.Tech (Lateral) Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for B.Tech at NERIST:

• Passed Class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
• Appeared/Passed Higher Secondary equivalent (ITI/ NERIST Certificate) or Class XII (Vocational stream)
• The maximum age of applicants, as of July 31, 2024, should not be more than 23 years (General)/ 26 years (OBC & female)/ 28 years (ST/SC/PD).
• For B.Tech Lateral Entry, candidates who have appeared/passed 3 Years Diploma in a relevant field from a government-recognized polytechnic institute with a minimum aggregate of 60% will be considered eligible.
• For B.Tech Lateral Entry, applicants need to fulfill the age criteria as specified by NERIST as the maximum age as of July 31, 2024 should not be more than 30 years (General)/ 33 years (OBC and Female)/ 35 years (ST/SC/PD).

NERIST B.Tech/ B.Tech (Lateral) Selection Criteria 

Candidates must fulfill the following selection criteria for B.Tech and B.Tech (Lateral) admission at NERIST:

• Selection is based on academic merit and performance in entrance tests.
• For B.Tech, the candidate must qualify for NEE-II. Applicants having a valid JEE Main score can also apply.
• For B.Tech (Lateral), the candidate must qualify for NEE-III.
• Shortlisted candidates must appear for NERIST counselling.

NERIST B.Tech Cutoff 2024

NERIST JEE Main cutoff 2024 is out for Round 1. The table below shows the opening and closing ranks for various courses offered at NERIST based on merit in JEE Main (Round 1):

The B.Sc. in Forestry course offered at NERIST is a unique 4-year degree program. Candidates must have passed Class XII with PCB to apply for this course. Admission is based on NEE-II exam conducted by NERIST. 

NERIST B.Sc. Forestry Eligibility Criteria 

B.Sc. Forestry applicants need to fulfill academic and age criteria to be considered eligible for admission. Academically, applicants are required to pass Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The maximum age of applicants, as on July 31, 2024, should not be more than 23 years (General)/ 26 years (OBC & female)/ 28 years (ST/SC/PD).

NERIST B.Sc. Forestry Selection Criteria

• Selection is based on academic merit and performance in the entrance test conducted by NERIST.
• Candidates must qualify for NEE-II exam followed by NERSIT counselling. 

NERIST conducts M.Tech programs in six engineering disciplines. Admission to the same is on the basis of performance in GATE or the institute’s own written test. Applicants are required to qualify for relevant B.Tech/ B.E. degree to be eligible for M.Tech admission.

NERIST M.Tech Eligibility Criteria 

• M.Tech applicants should have a B.Tech. or equivalent degree with a CGPA of 6.5 on a scale of 10 or an aggregate score of 60% marks.
• SC/ST/PWD category candidates are allowed an exemption of 5% in the aggregate score of the qualifying exam.

NERSIT M.Tech Selection Criteria

• Candidates will be selected based on valid GATE scores followed by NERIST counselling.
• For candidates who have not attempted GATE, a written test will be conducted. 

NERIST offers M.Sc. in Forestry, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. For M.Sc. Forestry, candidates must have passed 4-year B.Sc in Forestry with a CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale or 60% marks in aggregate. For other specializations, candidates must have passed B.Sc in the concerned discipline with 55% marks in aggregate.

NERIST M.Sc. Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates applying for M.Sc. Forestry must have completed 4-year B.Sc. in Forestry with a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates applying for M.Sc in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics must have passed B.Sc. in the related specialization with 55% marks in aggregate (Pass Course) and 50% marks in Major/Honours subject.

NERIST M.Sc. Selection Criteria

• The final selection will be based on merit in the written test conducted by NERIST followed by the institute’s counselling procedure. 

Admission to the MBA program at NERIST is based on merit in national-level examinations like CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT followed by a GD/PI round. Candidates who do not have appeared for any of these tests must appear for the entrance test conducted by NERIST. 

NERIST MBA Eligibility Criteria

• NERIST MBA applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with an aggregate score of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST applicants).

NERIST MBA Selection Criteria

• The selection will be based on merit in CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT. Students who have not appeared for any of these exams, must appear for a written test conducted by NERIST.
• Group Discussion/ Personal Interview is also an integral part of the MBA selection process. Please note, weightage for the Written test and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview will be 75% and 25%, respectively.

NERIST offers Ph.D. program through all its 11 academic departments and one Centre for Management Studies. 

NERIST Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria 

• Candidates having a Master’s Degree in Engineering and Technology with 60% marks in aggregate or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale and 55% marks in aggregate in Sciences/ Humanities and Social Sciences/Management for the General category are eligible to apply. 

NERIST Ph.D. Selection Criteria

• Candidates must qualify for the NERIST Ph.D. entrance exam followed by an interview round.
