• Those who have completed a 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme, or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme, or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever a grading system is followed. • A relaxation of 5% marks or an equivalent grade may be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Eligibility for admission of a foreign student (as Category-III) into the Ph.D. program of O.U. is decided by the Ph.D. Admission Committee of the concerned Faculty based on the course content (the detailed syllabus) of the candidate's P.G. Degree. The candidate shall submit a filled-in application form to the Dean of the concerned Faculty with a comprehensive research proposal through the Office of the International Affairs (formerly, University Foreign Relations Office-UFRO) O.U. The admission is subject to the approval of the University as recommended by the Departmental Research Committee and the Dean of the faculty concerned.

• Candidates (as Category-I) may get admission who qualified for fellowship/scholarship in UGC NET/ UGC- CSIR NET / GATE / CEED and similar National level tests based on an interview. And/or
• Candidates (as Category-II) may get admission through an Entrance Test conducted by the Osmania University in the concerned subjects.
• Candidates who have secured 50 % marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview.  
• A relaxation of 5 % marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC / ST / BC / differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time.
• After the declaration of Ph.D. Entrance Test results, the Deans of the respective faculties will coordinate in consultation with the selection committee of each department to compile a merit list of eligible candidates for an interview.
• The preparation of the merit list will be based on the number of vacancies notified in each respective department.
