While preparing for the entrance exam only I realized that after getting admission, the curriculum would not be a cake walk and sure enough I was right. The syllabus of my course was very exhausting, I had to make sure to study on regular basis to be able to just cover my syllabus before exams otherwise, a student can struggle if they don't. Fee Structure And Facilities:

The annual fees for any M. Phil course is Rs. 17,800/- which is an easily manageable amount. Medical courses extract a lot of money from family incomes because of high maintenance and facility requirement. Keeping all these factors in minds, the fees is low and feasible.

Admission:

Bringing all the documents in arrangement, I looked up at the admission process understanding what is left to get together. So, the Institute wants your master's degree in Psychology from recognized university with minimum 55% marks and the registration will cost Rs. 2000/-. The admission process is on the basis of entrance examination. After which, only 15 students are selected.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for my course was extremely complex. While it's main thesis was psychology, I dealt with many science stream subjects such as Biology. The combination of such heavy duty subjects was not easy and a lot of dedication was required to study them at a higher level.

Placement Experience:

For courses like M Phil, MD and many other specialisation are professional courses. You don't need things like placements in which companies come and hire you. You are self employed and if you have the license then you can open your own clinic .

Admission:

Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences takes admission only for post graduation courses. Admission is taken through national level entrance examinations such as NEET PG. If you get the eligibility criteria then you can apply their.

● Top Answer By Deeksha Seth, on 30 Sept 23

Ans. In order to clear the NIMHANS entrance exam for M.Phil. In clinical psychology, you should be thorough in the basics of the syllabus prescribed for a PG in psychology. Consider studying topics like cognitive psychology, Biological basis of behavior, abnormal psychology, social psychology, and research methodology. In reality, clearing the MPhil entrance is just a small step of the whole process. You should be mentally strong enough and have the ability to report to different people and tolerate their valid criticism. You will have to learn to work together with people from different disciplines, develop a passion for your patients, and spend long working hours including Saturdays. The bright side is, that you will be working with some of the highly intellectual people who will guide you to manage both academics and clinical work.  I am sure, eventually, you will realize that all the efforts were worth the result!Read more

Ques. Does the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS), Bangalore have RCI registration for M.Phil in clinical psychology?

● Top Answer By Sachin Rajput on 30 Sept 23

Ans. No, NIMHANS does not have registration as of now. The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) recognized NIMHANS’ M.Phil Clinical Psychology course from 2010–11 to 2014–15 as per the RCI’s 2017 List of the Institutions Approved by RCI. But now it does not. However, it does not mean the NIMHANS M.Phil Clinical Psychology course is invalid or not recognized.  NIMHANS enjoys the status of an ‘Institute of National Importance ’ owing to its top-notch education quality and huge contributions to society. It therefore has become autonomous and has the right to regulate all its functions like starting a new course, conducting exams, recognizing its own degrees, etc. So, no approval of RCI is required for the degrees awarded by NIMHANS.  In simple words, NIMHANS’ M.Phil Clinical Psychology degrees are no longer recognized by RCI but by NIMHANS itself because it’s now an Institute of National Importance. As for the value of its degrees, they enjoy good recognition globally.Read more

Ques. Is there an interview at NIMHANS for Mphil clinical psychology after passing your entrance exam? If so, how is the interview?

● Top Answer By Pradnya Tripathi on 30 Sept 23

Ans. Yes, everyone who clears the entrance exam for MPhil Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS is called for an interview. However, not everyone gets selected because the number of seats available is very low in comparison to the shortlisted students. The interviewers don’t ask much technical questions and usually assess your personality and talents. The most common question asked is ‘Why do you want to join this specific course?’. So, it’s better to prepare for it beforehand. Sometimes candidates might be enquired about their post-graduation thesis. Usually, it’s just a very personal interview with no technical questions so don’t worry about preparing for it and just be your real self.Read more
